Fraxure

// Needs a picture here //
Base Stats: 66 HP / 117 Atk / 70 Def / 40 SAtk / 50 SDef / 67 Spe

Overview

########

· Fraxure’s high Attack stat is its main selling point.

· The introduction of the Fairy- type makes Fraxure’s strength of spamming Dragon moves less viable. Certain Fairy- types in particular, such as Slurpuff and Granbull, make “Dragmag” and other flavors of Dragon spam less effective this generation.

· Fraxure needs to use an Eviolite since 66 HP / 70 Def / 50 SDef is mediocre even for NU, leaving it both vulnerable to status and unable to hit has hard without a boost.

· Unlike Haxorus, Fraxure does not learn Earthquake, which limits Fraxure’s potential coverage on a Dragon Dance set to Poison Jab, Superpower, and Aqua Tail.

· Fraxure faces competition from Dragalge, Altaria, Dragonair, and Shelgon, and struggles to find its niche to differentiate itself from the above options.

Dragon Dance
########

name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Outrage
move 3: Poison Jab / Taunt
move 4: Low Kick / Taunt
ability: Mold Breaker
item: Eviolite
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Swords Dance gives Haxorus an easier time to break against slower teams, and can be used along side Dragon Dance.

Dragon Claw provides STAB without the confusion and locking drawbacks of Outrage.

Taunt gives a lot of versatility for setup opportunities, particularly against preventing status and stopping other opponents from setting up on Fraxure.

Team Options
========

· Entry hazards, such as Sticky Web and Spikes, help Fraxure sweep easier (specifics / calcs should go here). Accelgor is a good teammate to provide hazards.
· Pyroar can help break Steel- and Fairy- types.
· Fraxure works best on Hyper Offensive teams and appreciates dual screen support.

Choice Band
########

name: Choice Band
move 1: Outrage
move 2: Poison Jab
move 3: Low Kick
move 4: Dragon Claw
ability: Mold Breaker
item: Choice Band

OTHER OPTIONS GOES HERE. STUFF LIKE ALTERNATE MOVES, ALTERNATE SETS, NICHE STUFF THAT DOESN'T GET A MAIN SET MENTION

· Not a lot of other options for Fraxure outside of Dragon Dance. Swords Dance is hard to set up and easy to revenge kill.
· Subsalac, Choice Band sets? Dragon Dance + Taunt? Low Kick over Superpower?
· Debating whether to put Superpower on as a Slash with Outrage.

Checks & Counters

########

NU stats list Slurpuff, Avalugg, Granbull.

Steel types, especially those with high defenses and that can take a +1 Superpower.

Status is a huge issue for Fraxure, especially since Outrage both locks it into attacking and leaves Fraxure confused once out of Outrage.

Add a Choice Band set toshimelonhead, something like this:

It is a cool wallbreaker, and works well with Sticky Web or Thunder Wave support :)

DD set:

I would change Dragon Claw to Low Kick to give better coverage. Mention Dragon Claw in Moves, and also add Swords Dance in Moves: having the option to DD against offensive teams and Swords Dance against slower teams is amazing, especially with Fraxure.

Added, thanks.

I know last gen Taunt DD was hands down the best set due to Fraxure only needing 2 moves [Claw, and Low Kick], but I still feel that it gives so many more set-up opportunities that it deserves a slash over Low Kick or Poison Jab, or both, on the DD set.
For eg: you can taunt stuff like plume or miltank to prevent status, you can taunt roar users like rhydon, and you can taunt pokes that try to set up along side you. Basically it adds so much versatility to the DD set, I feel it at least deserves a slash, and the player can pick what move to drop based on what their team covers better [if they cover fairies better, they can drop p-jab, if they cover steels, drop low kick].
Other than that, it looks nice so far :]
