SV OU First full team - Rain

Hi! I’ve played Pokémon for like a million years and never really played much competitive battling (though I’ve watched a lot!). I decided to just make myself a simple kinda rain team to play on casual singles battles online to develop my skills. It hasn’t been going to badly even against the casual folks that bring multiple Miraidon, Koraidon and various other legendary spam. Here is my lineup

Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 28 Def / 232 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Hurricane
- Roost
Obvious rain setter that can take a few hits on the special side partnering with Amoongus being the main physical wall. Haven’t had many problems keeping this mon alive to set its rain multiple times per battle and with kilowattrel and treads as electric switch ins I find it pretty safe. Hurricane hits nice and hard, slower uturn for pivot and knock off for removing items etc. Not had heaps of use from knock off in casual online stuff. Concerned no stab water move but have had pretty good results with this Pokémon!

Barraskewda @ Choice Band
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Liquidation
- Ice Fang
- Close Combat
Main physical sweeper that outspeeds most Pokémon in the rain, choice band for extra damage and Tera water to increase it even more. Ev spread for max damage. Did have psychic fangs for screeners but never used it (probably due to casual online not usually screening) so swapped it for aqua jet as I had 0 priority on the team. Ice fang for the dragon/grass resists though with all the boosts liquidation seems to do enough in most cases. Little bit fragile to priority but due to swift swim in out-priorities everything with aqua jet in the rain. Primarily used as my finisher.

Kilowattrel @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunder
- Weather Ball
- Hurricane
Main Special sweeper though did consider kingdra, decided against it due to kilowattrels coverage being a bit better. Good usage out of all its dual stab moves plus volt switch for the pivot and weather ball surprise catches some people off guard! As a sweeper I set it up to be as fast as possible and do the most damage it can. Seems to mostly be usually used in the lower tiers but quite a fun Pokémon! Tera electric just because I’m not sure of a better option, don’t think I’ve ever had to Tera this mon yet!

Iron Treads @ Assault Vest
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Volt Switch
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
Solid spinner to free up my sweepers from taking too much damage from hazards. Really good and important primary electric move switch in paired with kilo as a backup. EQ as main stab damaging move with knock off for utility and seems that the volt switch pivot is a little unexpected. Might be worth looking at a steel move here to hit fairies…. Possibly Tera fairy Tera blast instead of knock off?

Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Spore
- Sludge Bomb
- Clear Smog
Dual stab seems to operate alright with sludge bomb being my only super effective move against fairy types. Not had a lot of use from giga drain though that might be me not being confident in regenerator yet. Clear smog seems to be currently my only answer to setup mons which seem to be a weakness of mine. Might be worth replacing smog with leech seed for longevity if I can work out a better strat for dealing with setups. Ev setup for physical wall paired with helmet to punish the hits it takes further.

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes
- Foul Play
- Dazzling Gleam
Prankster hazard setter and thunder wave has been great for punishing switches, breaking sashes and crippling opposing sweepers and setup Pokémon. Ev spread for special bulk as its steel typing seems to be pretty good for its physical bulk as it is making it pretty good at taking both types of hits. Foul play works pretty well at hitting back at physical attackers and dazzling gleam is a good answer to dragons as long as they don’t have flamethrower (though it lives a hit pretty easily with the rain up).

Haven’t played this on showdown yet as I’ve mostly just played on casual singles from my switch where I fight a wide range of teams and as mentioned above have a fair bit of success. I’ve found a few Pokémon I’ve not managed to have answers for though it may be because I don’t yet have the experience - hatterene was a problem, no psychic switch ins really? Garganacl ruined my team pretty bad even when I got my special attackers in against it. Possibly not enough priority?

By posting my team I’d love to get some feedback on what I can do to improve it. Being new I’m sure there are things others can see that I won’t! Feel free to leave any comments you like!

Hi there I’m a fan of rain as well I can help make some suggestions to make it better.

1. Give :pelipper: tera ground this allows it to grab a Uturn on possible electric moves in emergency situations you want to keep rain on.

2. :barraskewda: is fine but there is one small error I would give it flip turn > ice fang. This momentum move is actually very crucial in certain scenarios and it is very strong in rain.

3. Next change is :raging bolt: > :Kilowattrel:
Kilo is very frail and not very strong and vulnerable to lots of priority. Raging bolt on the other hand is much much bulkier and stronger. Weather ball also provides water type coverage in rain to hit things like :ting-Lu: and :iron treads: for good damage

Choice specs with thunderbolt/thunder, weather ball, dragon pulse, volt switch and Tera water

3. Next I would go :kingambit:> :klefki: provides you with a decent ghost resistance as it is a fairly decent answer to :dragapult: gives you a nice solid wincon as well late game. I opted for black glasses here as it’s more in line with your offensive team.
Kingambit @ Black Glasses
Ability: Supreme Overlord
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Dark
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head

4. Lastly sleep is banned so :amoongus: pretty much lost its best trait. I think we can op for another water resistance and it further helps vs other weather in :dragonite:
Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Normal
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner

Lastly, I gave :iron treads: spinner
