This OM is Fervent Impersonation, where your Pokemon transforms into the nickname of your Pokemon if it is at or below 50% of its HP by the end of the turn.
On turn 19 in the first game, when my Blaziken switched in at 75% HP after a KO and took damage from hazards down to 50%, it did not transform despite being at 50% threshold required for transformation. At the end of turn 24 in a similar scenario in the second game, my Deoxys-Defense only transformed at the end of the next turn after switching in after a KO.
Clas, one of the council members, implied at https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/fervent-impersonation.3740523/post-10061959 that end of turn damage, which can include hazards, should count towards the transformation.
This goes against the concept of the OM and is a bug.
Are you able to replicate it? If so, how?
Stack hazards onto your opponent and KO one of their Pokemon. Make them choose a Pokemon that will take enough damage from hazards to be at or below the 50% threshold for transformation.
