Thanks to its access to Spikes and a unique Grass / Steel typing, Ferrothorn has a valuable niche in the Ubers metagame as a Spikes setter and check to Water-types like Gyarados and Rotom-W. With full investment into physical bulk, Ferrothorn can survive +2 Life Orb Excadrill's Earthquake and still survive +2 Shadow Ball from Polteageist afterward, even without any investment in Special Defense. Leech Seed and Leftovers help keep Ferrothorn healthy and deal residual damage to opposing Pokemon. Power Whip deals solid damage to Gyarados and Excadrill, while Gyro Ball allows Ferrothorn to hit Zacian-C and offensive Eternatus on the switch in. In order to maximize Gyro Ball's Base Power, it should be run with a Relaxed nature and 0 Speed IVs. Knock Off, despite not being able to remove Zacian-C's Rusted Sword, is good choice to remove Galarian Corsola's Eviolite and even Eternatus's Life Orb, making them more manageable for the rest of team. On other hand, Protect gives more recovery from Leech Seed, but it is unable to fully block Max Moves, and Ferrothorn loses the ability to remove items with Knock Off.

Teammates like Eternatus and Toxapex are good options to form a balance core with Ferrothorn, due to their resistance to Fire-type moves and ability to check Corviknight, which walls Ferrothorn, especially with Defog and Pressure. Hippowdon and Quagsire are able to check Zacian-C; Ferrothorn is shaky check for it due to Fire Fang. Hippodown creates a hazard stacking core with Stealth Rock when used in tandem with Ferrothorn, while Quagsire can win in one-a-one versus Life Orb Eternatus thanks to Stockpile.

What's the main reason the set is Specially Defensive? Pretty much the only special attackers in the game are Eternatus (which beats you), Polteageist, Cloyster, and maybe Dragapult (which beats you). Can someone with a good Ferrothorn team weight in on this?

Knock Off is a good move in this metagame with limited distribution. It's actually a pretty nasty punish for stuff that might want to switch into Ferrothorn. I would slash this before Protect, and maybe even not bother slashing Protect at all.

Change from spdef to phys def was discussed in Ubers Discord analyses channel.

The content of this, is good.
Ferrothorn is shaky check for it due at Close Combat.

I'd argue Fire Fang is more relevant on Zacian-C than Close Combat, Fire Fang is what the analysis set has.

Thanks at acces to its access to the rare Spikes and the a unique Grass / Steel (spaces between slash) typing, Ferrothorn get has a valuable niche in the Ubers metagame, (RC) in as a Spikes setter and check at to Water-types like Gyarados and Rotom-W. With a full investment into physical bulk physically defensive investment, Ferrothorn can live survive +2 Life Orb Excadrill Excadrill's Earthquake and still able to live survive +2 Shadow Ball from Polteageist afterward, (AC) even without any investment in SpD Special Defense. Leech Seed with the and Leftovers help to keep Ferrothorn healthy and deal residual damage to chip opposing Pokemon (accented e -> regular e). The move choice depends of the team preference. (RC) Power Whip deal deals solid damage at to Gyarados and Excadrill, while Gyro Ball, (RC) witch are powerful due at ridiculously low speed of Ferrothorn, (RC) allows Ferrothorn to hit Zacian-C and offensive Eternatus on the switch in (RC). In order to maximise maximize Gyro Ball Ball's Base Power, it should be run with a Relaxed nature and 0 Speed IVs. Knock Off, despite not being able although that it unable to remove Zacian-C's Rusted Sword, is good choice to remove Galar Galarian Corsola's Eviolite or and even Eternatus's Life Orb, (AC) making them more manageable for the rest of team. On other hand, Protect give gives more recovery from Leech Seed, although that but it is unable to fully block Dynamax moves Max Moves, and Ferrothorn loses the ability to remove items with lose Knock Off ability to remove item.

Teammates like Eternatus or and Toxapex is are good option options to make balanced form a balance core with Ferrothorn, (RC) with due to their fire-resistance, (RC) resistance to Fire-type moves and ability to check Corviknight, who totally wall which walls Ferrothorn, especially with Defog and Pressure. Hippowdon and Quagsire is are able to check Zacian-C; (comma -> semicolon) when Ferrothorn is shaky check for it due at to Fire Fang. Hippodown create stack hazard creates a hazard stacking core with Stealth Rock when used in tandem with Ferrothorn, (RC) with Stealth Rock, while Quagsire can win in one-a-one versus Life Orb Eternatus thank at thanks to Stockpile.
