National Dex Feraligatr in NatDex OU

I am finally returning to Smogon and Showdown! after an approximately 3 month-long hiatus because I got overwhelmed with school and stuff, so might as well make more shitty teams to celebrate my own return.

TEAM EXPLANATION
I made this team with one goal in mind: make Feraligatr good in NatDex OU. Feraligatr is my second favorite starter, after Swampert but that's already pretty good because of its Mega. Feraligatr, however, is quite the opposite, or at least people think it is. I honestly think Feraligatr is pretty good and doesn't get enough love.

TEAM ROLES
Yes, this team is goofy.

:ss/feraligatr:
Feraligatr is obviously the star of the show, the only issue is it's ass. I would quit and go to NatDex UU or RU, but where's the fun in that? The set is pretty straightforward, set up Dragon Dances and spam random moves without thinking. However, there are so many freaking Tapu Koko that I can't even sneak in one Dragon Dance without enraging that little shit.

:ss/diancie-mega:
This is here for 2 reasons, reason number 1 is that I wanted a mega and couldn't think of anything else that could work well with this team and 2 is that I like hazards. Basically my strategy has been to set up hazards BEFORE mega evolving because it loses tankiness upon mega evolution, and THEN mega evolve, spam and kinda spam Diamond Storm and Body Press until it dies because its purpose has been fulfilled.

:ss/zamazenta:
Zamazenta is here for close to 0 reason at all, much like most of this entire team other than Feraligatr. I decided to run Iron Defense + Body Press and if I get low on health I could just Rest and get back up to full health immediately. and consume the Chesto Berry. Crunch is there for any Ghost-types I run into. There have been close to no problems with this dog, other than Ditto which I'm surprised is still even prevalent.

:ss/zapdos:
Zapdos I wanted on the team because I love using it in SV OU and thought "WeLl WhY nOt BrInG iT hErE." The set is straightforward; just spam Hurricane and Thunderbolt, use Roost when you get low, Defog when hazards, and Supersonic Skystrike when you feel like you need to. This thing has won me games along with Iron Treads.

:ss/iron-treads:
If you're wondering "FYBIRR, why are you using Iron Treads over Great Tusk?" I have 3 reasons. 1.) It's faster 2.) Great Tusk has type overlap with Zamazenta and 3.) I honestly like Iron Treads better as a spinner. Much like its Scarlet counterpart it 4x resists Stealth Rock, but unlike Great Tusk it is immune to Toxic Spikes (if anyone dares to set it up). The rest of the set I'm pretty sure you could find out how it works.

:ss/hoopa-unbound:
You may be wondering "FYBIRR, why is Hoopa-U here?" Your answer is, I don't know. I wanted 2 things, no type overlap and a Special Attacker. I saw Hoopa-U's insane Special Attack stat and its type doesn't overlap with any of my current Pokémon's type, so I went with it. Too bad Smogon only has a physical set so I made my own. Too bad it's slower than a snail and I can't set up too much. Maybe I should run a Choice Scarf set instead for Speed.

CONCLUSION
This team is kinda mid. I got 12 wins with this team out of 20 battles, which is not nearly what I want. I want that 20 out of 20 battles.
Please give me recommendations on how to make this team better.

I would mention to click the Pokémon’s sprites on the top to see the pokepaste. Nice team though and thanks for posting.

Hey, this is a nice team. However, my one critique is that you seem to have arbitrarily put Feraligatr in as a Dragon Dance sweeper without supporting it. Now, it’s true that it may be trash, but if you’re not supporting it, why use it in the first place?

The thing is, I am kind of new to NatDex OU and I don't know how to support anything with the plethora of Pokémon that both I and enemies could use.

There are a bunch of ways to support your sweeper, mainly: #1 beating its checks, and #2 getting it to set up

#1: Feraligatr has trouble beating steel types, even with eq, because steel types now look like this: gambit which just ohkoes u with sucker punch if its allies are dead enough (whee mindgames!), skarmory, ferrothorn, heatran who is way too tera grass happy, and gholdengo (which i think u beat). The other one is bulky waters although the only prevalent one now is pex, if you run into something like dondozo or quagsire for whatever reason you just get hard walled. So to remove these, you have two options: pressure or lure. Pressure steel types with offensive dengo shadow ball, and force them to switch into neutral hard hits over time? Or lure steel types with flamethrower ttar and catch them unawares?

#2: Feraligtr frankly has problems setting up because it needs to set up on something passive or something that fears OHKO. The ones i can identify are lando (scared of ice fang probably), garg, torn (more often than not cannot ohko u), msciz (but it walls you), glisc, and dirge ig. So try and have something that can bait in these types of water-weak mons, maybe something like zama seems to bait a few of these but there are probably better ones.

happy building

FYBIRR you can look at the viability rankings and try and find suitable stuff, i feel like the support that feraligatr would like looks like: hazards (rocks is good enough), steel type pressure (difficult to lure since theres so many), and a wallbreaker that can bring in lando/glisc/garg/torn (think of a wallbreaker that gets checked/countered by most of these), then the rest of the team just ties it all up in a nice bundle (useful resistances, defog, whatever else)
