SS OU Excadrill Offense OU!

EXCADRILL OFFENSE OU

Hey, folks! This is the first OU team in Gen 8 that I have made and will be sharing today. I've always enjoyed using
offensive teams, from leads to late-game cleaners. A lot of Pokémon from Gen 7 have disappeared, meaning there will be more common Defensive Pokémon and even new ones! Offensive teams have took a huge impact on teambuilding, making walls more common nowadays. Now, let's get to the team making!

THE TEAM

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Rock Tomb

- Excadrill is the lead of the team and a great rapid spinner.
- Earthquake is a powerful STAB move combined with 135 base Attack, making it a suicide lead.
- Rock Tomb is used over Toxic to cripple fast opponents and possibly forcing them out to switch.
- Mold Breaker enables Excadrill to ignore Pokémon with Magic Bounce like Hatterne.

Haxorus @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

- Haxorus is the sweeper of the team. With Dragon Dance, Life Orb, and 147 Base Attack, it can cripple a lot of Pokémon.
- Outrage is a very strong STAB move, while Poison Jab lures Fairy types like Clefable.
- Earthquake also lures Steel types and is used over Close Combat for better coverage against Pokémon like Aegislash.

Chandelure @ Leftovers
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball

- Ferrothorn and Levitate Bronzong easily wall Haxorus, while Chandelure easily counters the both.
- Chandelure has a very high Special Attack stat, enabling it to sweep with Calm Mind.
- Flamethrower and Shadow Ball are very strong STAB moves, and Substitute helps it wall against bulkier Pokémon.
- Infrilator bypasses Substitute and Screens, making it hit as hard as it can.

Sitrus Berry icon

Hawlucha @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- High Jump Kick
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge

- Hawlucha is a great Dark type check and a powerful wallbreaker once it uses Swords Dance.
- Hawlucha's ability, Unburden, makes it faster upon using no items, so it relies on using Sitrus Berry to help it outspeed Pokémon.
- Acrobatics and HJK are strong STAB moves, while Stone Edge is used over Roost for bulkier Pokémon.

Rotom-Wash @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 108 HP / 184 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute

- Rotom Wash is an excellent pivot and can kill Ground Types thanks to Hydro Pump STAB.
- Nasty Plot can also be used for strong damage against bulky Pokémon.
- Substitute is a filler option for stalling out opponents.

Darmanitan-Galar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Gorilla Tactics
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Flare Blitz
- Stone Edge

- Arguably one of the most threatening scarfers in the tier. It's ability, Gorilla Tactics, boosts its attack, making it a threatening late-game cleaner.
- Icicle Crash is a very strong STAB move, while Earthquake, Flare Blitz and Stone Edge are for coverage.
- Zen Mode is also great, but misses out on boosted power.

CONCLUSION

In my opinion, the team is very fun to use as an offensive team and each Pokemon serves a great role. I am trying to find a way to improve this team to get it on high ladder, so please give me feedback. Thanks!!

Jeez! Hello again. I am still new to gen 8, but I have some thoughts for your team that might improve it. I will assume you want to build a Hyper Offensive team, so let's get started.

Major changes-
:haxorus:-->:gyarados: Haxorus is a great overall Pokemon, but it ain't the best DD Sweeper with only dragon as STAB in this new gen. DD Gyarados is better in that job. Some people are even saying to ban it, for a reason. Here is the set for it-
Gyarados (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Bounce
- Power Whip
Heavy Duty Boots are used to take no damage from rocks, but a Life Orb can also be used. Gyarados is the best user of Dynamax in the team, so use it to clean opposing teams. Dynamax Bounce gives it +1 Speed and Waterfall sets up Rain. Power Whip is used to hit Rotom-Wash, so it doesn't wall Gyarados.

:chandelure:-->:polteageist: This one is another Setup Pokemon. Chandelure is good, but it can be easily revenge killed due to its low Speed, but Polteagiest, on the other hand, better fits in the team as another Setup Sweeper. Try it yourself. Here is the set-
Polteageist @ White Herb
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Shell Smash
- Stored Power
- Strength Sap
White herb is used to prevent Shell Smash lowering both Defences, so that, Stored Power will hit as hard as possible. Strength Sap gives it recovery, so it doesn't die instantly with anything, though Giga Drain is also an option in this slot. This is the second best user of Dynamax, which can use Dynamax Psychic to set up Psychic Terrain, so it is safe from priority moves like Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch.

:hawlucha:-->:Grimmsnarl: The team had two great Dynamax candidates, and Grimmsnarl was available, so I had to replace it with Hawlucha. This Pokemon is the best friend of Hyper Offence teams, as it provide dual screens, which makes setting up easier. It also has an amazing ability in Prankster, which help it in setting up screens despite its low base speed. Here's the set as well-
Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spirit Break
- Taunt
- Light Screen
- Reflect
Spirit Break is the only STAB move, and is useful because it lower's SpAtk of opponent. Taunt shuts down defensive walls which may try to cripple your sweepers with any status move. And dual screens is the reason this Pokemon is used in the team.

Minor changes-

:darmanitan: Use U-turn over Stone Edge, as it allows Galarian Darmanitan to bring a sweeper to setup and potentially sweep the opposing team, and the fact that other three moves hits everything for at least neutral damage covers the need of Stone Edge. Other than that, this Pokemon is fine, as it is the main wallbreaker of the team.

:rotom wash: SubPlot Rotom-Wash is not that great with this team, as it's weak even after a boost and a defensive Rotom works better in this team, as it prevents opposing G-Darmanitan with Choice Scarf to completely destroy this team. Here is set for it-
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Discharge
- Will-O-Wisp
Discharge is used to fish for para and prevent itself form switching if not necessary.

Hope that it helped you. Please enjoy yourself :] and be careful against teams with Ditto. The final team is below-
Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Tomb
- Rapid Spin

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spirit Break
- Taunt
- Light Screen
- Reflect

Darmanitan-Galar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Gorilla Tactics
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- U-turn

Gyarados @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Bounce
- Power Whip

Polteageist @ White Herb
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Shell Smash
- Stored Power
- Strength Sap

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Discharge
- Will-O-Wisp

Thanks! This team is actually more effective as Grimmsnarl helps set up screens for the rest of the team. I was a bit skeptical of using Gyarados because of the removal of Flyinium Z/Mega Gyarados, and Haxorus had higher attack.
However, Gyarados is threatening with Moxie and actually swept an entire team! https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8ou-1015925921 https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8ou-1015935099

I am really glad that you liked the team :] Just be careful around dittos....

with the current meta is there any reason to run chandelure over the tea pot?
Not really, but for a Fire-type STAB, yeah. And it can be used in Trick Room team. You can still run it and test it if you want though.

I’ve been using the changed team that animesh suggested and it wasn’t working out the way I wanted it to. I tweaked the team and this is what I got. I switched Polteagiest with for Hydreigon and I’ve been having more success with this team.

Oh yeah I made an edit to the team. That’s what we are referring to because I changed it so it doesn’t have poltergeist.
So stealth rocks aren’t much of a problem.
