[SET COMMENTS]
- This Torkoal set is used for setting up sun and providing additional support for its partners.
- Overheat is a powerful nuke that allows Torkoal to switch out immediately after use thanks to Eject Pack. Eruption deals strong spread damage if Torkoal stays on the field. Clear Smog clears foes' stat boosts, most notably from Dondozo.
- Eject Pack allows Torkoal to switch out on lead when it has its Attack dropped by Intimidate from Incineroar, allowing its partners to take advantage of the sun immediately, as well as using Overheat to allow a partner to switch in safely and at the end of the turn.
- Tera Fire allows Torkoal to OHKO Ursaluna-B with Overheat.

- Eruption deals powerful Fire-type spread damage; meanwhile, Heat Wave provides consistent spread damage regardless of Torkoal's remaining HP. Weather Ball deals strong, consistent damage while sun is active, and Overheat is often used as a single-use nuke attack. Earth Power allows Torkoal to threaten Fire-types like Incineroar. Protect is used on Charcoal sets, while Clear Smog is used on Choice Specs sets to disrupt Dondozo and setup sweepers like Volcarona.
- Charcoal and Choice Specs are used to increase Torkoal's damage, with Charcoal guaranteeing Eruption OHKOes Assault Vest Rillaboom and Choice Specs Weather Ball 2HKOing Assault Vest Archaludon.

Teambuilding
============
- Torkoal performs best at supporting a variety of Pokemon thanks to its sun-setting capabilities. Torkoal additionally functions well as a powerful sweeper when its partners set up Trick Room.
- When used as a supportive sun setter, Torkoal is often paired with Jumpluff, which takes advantage of the sun via Chlorophyll, allowing it to set Tailwind or put foes to sleep with Sleep Powder before they can move. Torkoal boosts the power of its partners' Fire-type attacks like Heat Wave and Eruption with the sun, making it a great pairing alongside Charizard and Hisuian Typhlosion. Charizard gains an additional damage boost from the sun thanks to Solar Power.
- Offensive Torkoal pairs well with reliable bulky Trick Room setters like Hatterene and Indeedee-F. Hatterene is capable of providing additional special offense with its powerful Dazzling Gleam as well as Expanding Force when paired with Indeedee-F. Indeedee-F on the other hand provides redirection and can boost Torkoal's damage with Helping Hand as well as using Heal Pulse to provide healing, mitigating the damage reduction of Eruption and increasing Torkoal's longevity. Indeedee-F's Psychic Terrain protects Torkoal from priority attacks, ensuring Torkoal can deal maximum damage with Eruption. Other offensive Trick Room-reliant partners like Ursaluna and Gallade pair well with Torkoal by threatening devastating physical damage. Ursaluna threatens specially defensive foes like Tyranitar. Meanwhile, Gallade deals with bulky foes Torkoal struggles to damage like Incineroar and Annihilape. Gallade additionally protects Torkoal from threatening spread attacks like Earthquake with Wide Guard.
- Supportive Torkoal can be very passive with Overheat as its primary offensive attack. It is very reliant on enabling its partners to take the KOs it can't achieve alone. Offensive Torkoal struggles to sufficiently damage Water-types like Primarina, so it relies on partners like Hatterene and Ursaluna to defeat them. Torkoal is easily threatened by powerful sweepers that move before Torkoal and threaten super effective damage like Garchomp and Tyranitar. Hatterene can set up Trick Room to ensure they do not attack before Torkoal moves and threatens both of them with its Fairy-type attacks.
Strategy Comments
============
- Supportive Torkoal is best positioned when it can easily enable sun and provide support for its partners. Offensive Torkoal, on the other hand, is best used to sweep once Trick Room is active.
- As a supportive sun setter, Torkoal should be lead to set sun immediately for its partners. When it is lead, this set can potentially switch out immediately after Intimidate from Incineroar is triggered, allowing an offensive partner like Hisuian Typhlosion to switch in safely before you and the opponent can select their attacks for the turn. When using an offensive set, Torkoal is best kept in the back and should only be switched in while Trick Room is active.
- Foes capable of KOing Torkoal and its Trick Room-setting partners before Trick Room is set up are huge threats. To mitigate this, Indeedee-F can redirect attacks to protect Torkoal or the Trick Room setter from damage. Rain setters like Pelipper override the sun set by Torkoal, weakening and disrupting its partners; to prevent this, the rain setters should be KOed as soon as possible.
