[SET]
name: Life Orb Sweeper
move 1: Flare Blitz
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: ExtremeSpeed
move 4: Hidden Power Grass
item: Life Orb
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set aims to take advantage of Entei's excellent Attack stat and powerful STAB Flare Blitz. At first glance, Arcanine might seem like a better choice, but Entei has higher Attack and Speed than Adamant Arcanine. Entei also has Stone Edge as a coverage move to nail Fire-types for super effective damage, OHKOing a large amount of its switch-ins. Entei's ExtremeSpeed is very powerful and it makes a great late-game sweeping tool. Hidden Power Grass rounds off Entei's coverage by hitting Rhyperior, Kabutops, and Omastar for heavy damage. Entei also has excellent bulk for a Fire-type, meaning it switches in quite easily.

[ADDITONAL COMMENTS]

Entei is a hard Pokemon to stop later in the game, but in order to reach that point, Entei could use some support. Since Milotic and Slowbro are essentially the only safe switch-ins for Entei, it makes sense to use a set like SubToxic Azumarill, Swords Dance Kabutops, and Swords Dance Blaziken. If these Pokemon surprise Entei and switch in, having a Grass-type to take the Surf is definitely a good idea. Venusaur makes an excellent candidate since it has high Special Defense and can cause some major damage with Leaf Storm, Sludge Bomb, and Sleep Powder. Miltank is also a problem, albeit not a common one. Rhyperior makes a great switch in for Miltank since it resists its main STAB, doesn't care about paralysis, and can cause major damage to the switch-in. It also lures Milotic.

Played this a bit today, and it's really cool. A few things I think you should note:

With an Adamant nature, Entei isn't going to outspeed anything special running at max Speed (Ties with other Base 100s, but neutral Base 100s are relatively rare). Therefore, I propose the EV spread to be 252 Atk/16 SpA/240 Spe to give HP Grass a slight kick, especially with the -ve Nature. 240 Spe allows Entei to outspeed Jolly Toxicroak. Also, while I used the same set, I used Choice Band instead of Life Orb. Haven't seen exactly what I can kill with CB and not LO just yet, but if you're put off by the overkill recoil damage from Flare Blitz and LO, CB can decrease that a little bit.

For partners, definitely mention Rapid Spinners. Entei is dying quickly enough without Stealth Rock screwing it up already.

I feel like the 16 SpA EVs are pretty arbitrary. Do they help with anything?

Otherwise it's worth the off chance that you face another base 100 (although quite rare) to keep it at 252 Spe EVs.

I personally think a full physical set (with Return / Iron Head in the last slot) with Choice Band would be better. You make mention to the fact that HP Grass for Rhyperior and Slowbro, but it won't 3HKO Slowbro (32.5%-38.6%) factoring in Leftovers and it fails to OHKO 0/0 Rhyperior (71.2%-84.1%) while an unboosted Jolly EQ OHKO's (no matter the item).

Flare Blitz + HP Grass = KOed Rhyperior. It can't switch in. Slowbro counters this set, as does Milotic. Those aren't too bad considering the Speed and Power that Entei brings to the team, and once those mons are weakened Entei can plow through most teams.

Return and Iron Head with a Choice Band simply open Entei up to being set up on by the listed threats. That doesn't make much sense to me; I'd rather hit everything hard and KO something while also not worry about being set up on.

That's a nifty Entei set.

Personally I say you should keep those speed EV's, to at least tie with opposing Entei. Those 16 SpA EV's do absolutely nothing for Entei.

HP Grass also OHKOes Kabutops and offensive Omastar, and has a small chance to OHKO bulky Omastar after SR. A rarer threat that it beats is Quagsire. These are all pokemon that easily defeat Entei without HP Grass. Iron Head doesn't 3HKO Rhyperior, anyway, and it certainly doesn't help against the water/rock-types.

Because the point is to send Entei out as few times as possible before attempting a late-game sweep in which Life Orb is crucial to Entei's success.

This looks good to me. I'm surprised Entei has no sets using his Crown event moves yet in the analysis.

This is good stuff. Come on guys-- we all know that this is one of the best sets Entei has. The fact that it can't be used on shoddy is a ridiculous reason to keep this from being approved and moved along.

-Jolly needs a slash so you aren't fucked by Moltres's Flinch Slash. Also helps against Rotom and +2 Leafeon and Hitmonlee and quite a few other things.

-Speaking of natures...if you're running HP Grass, you might as well go Naughty/Naive with 252 Atk/40 SpA/216 Spe. This ups damage on slowbro to 46% max (from 38% max) which means you can 2hko with a bit of residual damage as opposed to not even 3hkoing. Also helps that you no longer lose to Rhyperior (136/0 Rhyperior can survive Flare Blitz -> HP Grass from current spread, 24.4% - 28.8% from Flare Blitz and 65% - 76.8%, very good chance to survive without Leftovers and guaranteed with it) and, importantly, it now ohkos Omastar (76.7% - 90.7% from current spread versus 87.2% - 103.5%) and hurts Feraligatr way more (Flare Blitz/Flare Blitz or Flare Blitz/HP Grass from current spread doesn't 2hko, does with mine).
I'm not sure if Entei will be missing the SpD in some cases, but I'd think these are more importantly personally.

I think (stress think) that Entei can't run Jolly / Naughty / Naive because it needs to be Adamant to learn Extreme Speed.

Is HP Grass worth using with a -ve nature? Entei's SpA was never high to begin with, and it's also uninvested. Maybe Toxic to hit Slowbro / Milotic with, or Roar, or even Sleep Talk as a makeshift sleep absorber?

Movie Entei can't run any other nature apart from Adamant.

....goddamn it. Sorry...disregard that post then -____- Thanks Shrang.
