ORAS NU Elegant Sweeper

Hi all guys, I'm back!
I'm glad to present u my first NU team, but I have to say that I'm serious dubious about it. Below I'll explain why...

TEAM BUILDING:

Ani481MS5.gif

My starting point for this team is Lilligant. I think that is a great offensive pokemon in this tier, provided to eliminate or weaken her checks. I made a nice core, Lilligant+Aurorus, they have really a great synergy. This initial core was completed with Mesprit... Why? Well, first of all, Mesprit can take fighting type for Aurorus, then he can provide the u-turn support to give a favorable matchup to other two pokrmon of the core, finally he can set the stealths, that are a great help in lilligant's sweep.

Searching in Smogon, I found that Lilligant has a great synergy with fighting and water pokemon. Firsts can take steel pokemon, while seconds can take fire types for example. Seeing that these initial three members are sp attacker, I choose two physical pokemon, like Primeape and Samurott (at the beginning the fighting type was Hariyama but then I choosed Primeape)
Ani467MS5.gif

Finally I needed the last member. Reading the NU list I saw that a fire pokemon should be really useful, but what pokemon? The choice is Magmortar, just because he has a great variety of ways of being played, then we will see what I choosed.

MOVESETS:
Sprxyf549.gif

Lilligant @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Sleep Powder
As I said initially, this is my starting point for the team. The moveset is standard with HP Rock>Fire because of the presence of Magmortar. If i can enter into the battlefield against a positive matchup I can setup 1 quiver dance and then start the sweep with the powder. The only thing that I hate is the 75% accuracy of this move D:
Sprxym699.gif

Aurorus (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
A quite standard set, just with Flash Cannon>Frost Breath, because I dont think that it's an essential move, I prefer to have more coverage, against fairy type with this choice. I am not sure about the nature and also the item, because I would use the Timid nature to give a greater speed, or I could use modest nature + Choice Scarf>Choice Specs, but I need advices about this...
Sprxym481.gif

Mesprit @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic/Psyshock
- U-turn
- Healing Wish
Because I have two sp attacker yet, I preferred the physical defensive set for Mesprit. Stealth Rock to help Lilligant in sweeping, for the same reason I choose Healing Wish in the fourth slot. U-turn to gain momentum, expecially against faster pokemon. The only doubt is Psychic/Psyshock.
Sprxym503.gif

Samurott (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall/Knock Off/Superpower
- Megahorn
Classical SDancer set. I'm not sure about waterfall. Don't misunderstand me, it's a great move, a great stab, but Samurott has not a great speed stat, so he is easily outspeeded, is for this reason that I thought to take as only stab aqua jet, and maybe take Knock Off in the other slot, that is always a great move and no one of the team has it. Superpower is another possibility, but I have Primeape that can spam fighting moves so...
Sprxym057.gif

Primeape (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Maybe I prefer Primeape>Haryiama because of U-turn and because of the better speed obv. Jolly nature to max his speed and make a lot of damage thanks to the band. I think there is no more to say about him.
Sprxym467.gif

Magmortar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast
Here the last member. First of all Scarf>Assault Vest/Choice Specs, I tried him with specs but with the scarf is unpredictable, the only problem is that he is weak to stealths... And I have no way to remove them. Btw I can rely on Mesprit with his Healing Wish to heal him. Except this, is a classic set for him.

So............. This is the team......
The first thing that I notice is that I have only a "defensive" pokemon (Mesprit), and in some games I suffered this, then I have no way to remove hazards, and this is a problem for Aurorus and Magmortar, but I dont know how to resolve. I'm sure that there is a way, but I'm not expert in this tier (and in the game too D:)
Btw I hope that someone can advice me, thanks in advance to all.

Sorry, I'm on my Wii U, but I have some sugestions:
I think that you can run Mixed Abomasnow over Aurorus, it's offensive presence is better, and it provides you a better answer to Lanturn if Lilligant is gone. Colbur Berry could be a better opition than Leftovers on Mesprit, because this Item can provide you a better chance to use Stealth Rock and/or Healing Wish. Hitmonchan can spin hazards and Spam powerful punches, so I think that he would be better than Primeape.

Sets:

Abomasnow @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

Mesprit @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Healing Wish

Hitmonchan @ Fist Plate
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Rapid Spin

Hey, your team looks cool overall, but somethings needs to be changed to help the teams to works better:

Firstly you are pretty weak to Volt Switch user, they can just click volt switch whenever they want due to the lack of ground/volt absorb on your team. And it looks like you want to turn the team in something more defensive as you've said you have some problems with using only mesprit as a defensive mon. I was thinking about replacing Samurott with Lanturn, Lanturn help you to stop more easily things like Rotom, others Lanturn, and the newcomer Manectric. In addition, Lanturn provide a huge support to the team as he can easily use Thunder Wave to help your mons to outspeed some mons, or help Liligant to set up more easily, also, Lanturn can be pretty cool due to Heal Bell that can be so usefull for your team as you have nothing that can absorb status.

Regarding to your team, you really need something that can spin or defog, as you have Magmortar and Aurorus, even with Healing Wish support, they don't like comming on rocks. So, replacing Primeape with Hitmonchan looks like a cool idea in addition, Hitmonchan provides a solid priority in Mach Punch that can be useful in some case.

Minor change but Psyshock should be the first option on Mesprit regarding to your team, as Hariyama can be annoying to deal with if Hitmonchan is down.

In last, i would like to suggest a personal preference but it can help the team to deal with somethings, I would like to suggest Assault Vest Magmortar with Flame Charge. Because the scarf isn't the best set currently, especially on your team, as we can see Vivillon can be annoying if he manage to set up a Quiver Dance during the game, you have nothing that can stop the Hurricane+Energy Ball variant. Magmortar can't be asleep and with Assault Vest he have the opportunity to stop more easily this Vivillon.

Lanturn>Samurott
Hitmonchan>Primeape
Psyshock>Psychic
AV Magmortar>Scarf Magmortar

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 152 Def / 208 SpD / 108 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave

Hitmonchan @ Life Orb / Fist Plate
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Rapid Spin

Magmortar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Grass / Focus Blast
- Flame Charge

Hope i've helped, have a good day :)

Hi and thank u for the rate.
I think that Hitmonchan is a great idea and I know that Lanturn is good to take the volt switches, but I thikn just one thing, if I choose Lanturn I will have only Hitmonchan as a physical pokemon...

When I read about Hitmonchan in the first reply, I thought to use him with a more defensive set, seeign his great special defence, but I dont know if it's a good idea, maybe with a set like this:

Hitmonchan (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch

In your opinion is a good idea?

Hitmonchan main use is as an offensive spinner due to his huge presence offensive and his priority, he can spin on a lot of things that can normally block some spinners. Also, using a full speed Hitmonchan looks the best option on your team as Hitmonchan has a cool speed for an offensive spinner, that allow him to spin against a lot of things, and you really need some opportunities to spin, so, an offensive Hitmonchan looks the best as he forces some switch and spin more easily.

Im gonna be really quick, Lilligant is very threatening sweeper, and ice types like aurorus with psychic and vanilluxe with explosion are cool things to consider when building around it.
So first thing to suggest is Psychic > Flash Cannon on aurorus to weaken its common switchins like thick fat hariyama is really useful.
Second thing i noticed is that team being kinda slow, and scarf magmortar isnt really a good option to try to fix it, so im gonna suggest a
kabutops.png
>
samurott.png

Choice Scarf kabutops will give that team a speed it needs, Rapid spin user and threatening revenge killer that outspeeds everything even with Adamant nature with equipped scarf, it also pairs well with AV Magmortar which checks many grass types for it and absorbs wisps from things like gourgeist/weezing.
Set:
Kabutops @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin
- Superpower
Signal Beam>Healing Wish on mesprit is also an option to consider if you decide to run kabutops over samurott as it will give you decent Malamar check.
Next thing that i would change is
rotom.png
>
primeape.png

I dont think having 2 Choiced locked wallbreakers on offense unless you have bulky offensive team with at least decent defensive backbone that can take a hit when your choice locked pokemon clicks wrong move is a good choice. Rotom gives your team an ok psychic check, another ground immunity, a pokemon that threatens balance, another samurott check,Steelix switchin, archeops check, Normal check that you didnt have and its overall a great addition to many teams, it also pairs nicely with Av magmortar since mismagius threatens rotom and standard wisp hex mismagius can do barely anything vs mag.I was debating which rotom set i could recommend but theres few viable sets so i decided to put one i like.
Set:
Rotom @ Spell Tag
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Volt Switch
- Hex
With that being said, you can experiment with Rotom/Kabutops as you can run scarf rotom as well and regular LO kabutops with aqua jet as nice priority for the team,
So last thing to suggest is AV magmortar which is always a better choice than scarf mag.
Magmortar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 96 HP / 252 SpA / 160 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Earthquake
Have fun with lilligant^^
