Pros
+ Electrode-Hisui is extremely fast, outspeeding every relevant Pokemon in the metagame.
+ Electric / Grass provides solid neutral coverage, especially when considering Electrode-Hisui's moves have decently high base power.
+ Thunder Wave and Taunt can make switching in Pokemon that would otherwise leave it hopeless much more difficult.
Cons
- It has practically no offensive coverage, meaning it can be pretty easily snuffed out by Grass- and Dragon-types.
- Weaknesses to super common moves like U-turn and common type coverage like Fire and Ice are absolutely tragic, considering that its paper-thin bulk means that even neutral hits can swiftly 2HKO it, let alone super-effective moves.
- 80 Special Attack is extremely low without any boosts, leaving it prone to being blanked by Pokemon with half-decent special bulk.
Terastalization Potential
The nice thing about Terastalizing this Pokemon is that it doesn't necessarily need to Terastalize to afford exchanging with Grounds due to its Grass coverage. With that being said, Tera Grass is probably one of the better routes to go due to its mediocre attacking stats (this thing's Special Attack is lower than Dewott). Tera Ice may also be useful for helping take down the Dragon- and Grass-types that would otherwise wall its coverage. Tera Ground can assist in taking down Pokemon like Slowking-Galar and Glimmora and can even catch Regielekis who are hesitant to Tera (all negative 5 of them) off guard.
Potential Set
Electrode-Hisui @ Choice Specs
Ability: Aftermath
Tera Type: Grass / Ice / Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Leaf Storm / Giga Drain / Energy Ball
- Volt Switch
- Chloroblast / Tera Blast / Taunt / Thunder Wave
Electrode-H's crazy Speed and rather limited movepool make it a cool choice as a Choice Specs user. The boost from Choice Specs is greatly appreciated in making this thing's moves do actual damage. The first three moveslots are fairly self-explanatory: STABs and Volt Switch to chip down everything you can't do much to. Chloroblast is an interesting last move, doing good damage to frailer resists like Dragapult and Gholdengo and basically acting as an Explosion in a worst case scenario. Tera Blast, with Tera Ice or Ground, has the aforementioned advantages. Taunt and Thunder Wave hinder the capability of switch-ins like Amoonguss and Dragapult.
Final Verdict
I doubt this mon will get any real play. It’s just far too weak to consistently get anything done. I know people who are trying it in a post-Regieleki metagame, but I doubt it will lead to anything particularly notable.
