[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 8
**Price Range**: 1-3 points
**Overview**: For a low-priced Pokemon, Electivire has good mixed attacking stats, a diverse movepool to use those stats and two abilities that have uses in a pinch, giving an image of being a capable attacker. Regrettably, it often fails to live up to its expectations as a result of unreliable STAB options and weak coverage, horrid defenses, and just not being fast enough.
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Electivire can use its wide array of coverage moves to hit opposing Pokemon super effecively. It can employ both physical and special attacks in doing so, allowing for maximum damage onto opposing Pokemon. This can be assisted by using Bulk Up and damage-boosting items.
**Offensive Utility**: With its decent Attack, Electivire can threaten out frail Pokemon and gain momenteum for its team with Volt Switch or disrupt the enemy team with options such as Taunt, Thunder Wave and Knock Off. It also provides lasting value with dual screens, giving its stronger teammates opportunities to set up.
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Wild Charge, Supercell Slam, Thunder Punch, Discharge, Thunderbolt, Volt Switch
**Setup Moves**: Bulk Up, Trailblaze
**Utility Moves**: Reflect, Light Screen, Thunder Wave, Taunt, Brick Break
**Coverage**: Earthquake, Fire Punch, Hammer Arm, Cross Chop, Ice Punch, Knock Off, Low Kick, Rock Slide, Flamethrower, Focus Blast, Psychic
Common Items
========
**Damage-boosting Items**: Electivire can choose from different damage-boosting items to conduct more power. Life Orb maximizes its damage potential while still being able to mix and match coverage on the Pokemon sent against it. Expert belt is an alternative when longevity is valued over raw power.
**Heavy-Duty Boots**: If Electivire is employed as a pivot, Heavy-Duty Boots prevents it from taking entry hazard damage throughout the match, increasing the number of times it can switch in.
**Air Balloon**: Air Balloon allows Electivire to avoid Ground-type attacks, making it more diffcult to take down in a single hit.
**Choice Scarf**: Electivire can boost its speed with Choice Scarf to act as an effective revenge killer against fast threats and threaten them with its coverage.
Niche Items
========
**Assault Vest**: As Electivire often uses four attacks in its moveset, Assault Vest can be paired along with its acceptable Special Defense to let it be an emergency check to Special Attackers.
**Lum Berry**: Electivire can opt into using a Lum Berry when setting up, preventing it from being crippled by status moves.
**Light Clay**: Electivire can use Light Clay to increase the longevity of Light Screen and Reflect.
Tera
========
Electivire is far from optimal as a secondary Tera Captain, as it is often outclassed by other offensive Pokemon and still held back by its fraility. However, if chosen as a Tera Captain, Electivire can use Tera types such as Ice, Grass, Fire, and Dark to boost the power of its coverage moves, or defensive Tera Types like Water and Flying that can synergize with Motor Drive.
Draft Strategy
========
Electivire is not a Pokemon you draft around, but still can be a a good addition to drafts looking for increased offensive presence and an Electric-immune Pokemon.
**Pokemon Weak to Electric**: As Electivire gains a Speed boost after sucking up an Electric-type attack, your opponent might be more hesitant to click such attacks against Electric-weak Pokemon, such as Tornadus-T, Palafin and Gyarados.
**Defensive Pivots**: Electivire wants to avoid taking hits, therefore Pokemon such as Slowking, Corviknight, and Moltres can take damage for it and pivot back to Electivire for another attack.
Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Ground-types**: While a Ground-type move from all Ground-types would knock out Electivire, Electivire struggles most against bulky Ground-types, such as Hippodown and Great Tuskm as they can easily eat its coverage moves.
**Walls**: Electivire's coverage often falls short when it's attacking bulky Pokemon, such as Zapdos and Garganacl, allowing them to freely provide utility or disrupt Electivire's team.
**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Iron Valiant, Meowscarada, and Chi-Yu can often outrun and deal massive damage to Electivie.
