[SET]
name: Offensive Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Thunder / Thunderbolt
move 3: Draco Meteor
move 4: Flash Cannon
item: Leftovers
ability: Light Metal
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpA
[SET COMMENTS]
Duraludon is mostly outclassed by Copperajah as an offensive Stealth Rock setter; the latter beats all of the entry hazard removers that Duraludon does, and it additionally gets Heat Crash so that Excadrill and Ferrothorn can't freely switch in and use Rapid Spin or set their own entry hazards. Duraludon also has a very poor Special Defense stat, which prevents it from checking threats it'd otherwise be able to such as Toxtricity, Rotom-W, and Togekiss. Its only niche stems from its secondary Dragon typing, which lets it serve as a check to Gyarados, Dracozolt, and Choice Scarf Dracovish. Thunder OHKOes Gyarados and allows Duraludon to pressure common Defoggers in Corviknight and Mandibuzz. Thunder is preferred for its ability to 2HKO specially defensive Corviknight, although Thunderbolt can be used for its better accuracy. Draco Meteor hits Dracovish and Dracozolt super effectively, as well as being a strong hit on most foes it damages neutrally. Flash Cannon hits Fairy-types that are immune to Draco Meteor, notably Hatterene, which would otherwise freely switch in to deflect Stealth Rock with Magic Bounce. The given EV spread allows Duraludon to survive two Bolt Beaks from Dracozolt, a +1 Earthquake from Gyarados, and two Fishious Rends from Choice Scarf Dracovish. Light Metal is helpful to reduce damage taken from Low Kick users such as Dracovish and Dracozolt.
Duraludon should only be used on teams that require insurance against certain physical attackers like Gyarados, Dracozolt, and Choice Scarf Dracovish. Ghost-types like Dragapult can switch into Fighting-type attacks for Duraludon and block Rapid Spin. Since Duraludon's Special Defense is lackluster, it can be helpful to pair it with a sturdy special wall like Mandibuzz or Gastrodon.
