[SET COMMENTS]
Salamence is a fierce Dragon Dance sweeper thanks to its excellent power, Speed, and offensive coverage. At +1, Salamence is faster than the entire unboosted metagame, besides positive-natured Deoxys-S, and Choice Scarf users like Hydreigon and Rotom-W. Temper Flare nails Steel-types like Skarmory and Scizor; unlike Earthquake, it's also able to hit Air Balloon users like Excadrill, Tinkaton, and Revavroom. Roost helps Salamence keep itself healthy enough to stay out of range of priority users like Lokix and Scizor, and Salamence can use it to take advantage of passive Pokemon like Clodsire, Toxapex, and Slowking. Earthquake provides better coverage against Heatran and hits Steel-types like Cobalion and Tinkaton harder. Like Outrage, Earthquake can power up a following Temper Flare when it fails against targets like Skarmory and Air Balloon Tinkaton. Heavy-Duty Boots mitigates Salamence's Stealth Rock weakness so it can more safely set up, but a Lum Berry provides Salamence protection against status users like Skeledirge, Rotom-W, and Slowking. Moxie enables Salamence to snowball as it sweeps and roll past bulky Pokemon like Tyranitar and Skarmory. Salamence also benefits from Moxie's ability to start a sweep without needing to use Dragon Dance. Temper Flare becomes more powerful thanks to Tera Fire, giving Salamence more opportunities to overwhelm Skarmory and Cobalion and start sweeping. Tera Fire also protects Salamence from burns from Heatran, Skeledirge, and Rotom-W. The resistances provided by Tera Fire are useful against priority users like Weavile, Scizor, and Comfey, and they similarly help Salamence flip the script on Steel-types like Excadrill and Tinkaton as well as Fairy-types like Enamorus-T and Gardevoir.
Dragon Dance Salamence fits on offense and hyper offense teams thanks to the tempo it provides by threatening to start sweeping against weakened and passive foes. Quaquaval and Greninja both share Salamence's ability to snowball, and they benefit from each other by picking up where another sweeper leaves off. Keldeo can intercept problematic foes for Salamence, such as Weavile and Tinkaton, while Salamence threatens Slowking and Water Absorb Clodsire. Greninja makes up for Salamence's lacking initial Speed by pressuring Latios and Ogerpon-C. Serperior can set up dual screens to enable Salamence to set up more safely, and it tends to draw in setup fodder for Salamence, such as Heatran. Serperior also wears down checks to Salamence like Mandibuzz with Leaf Storm and Glare and forces Hydrapple to lower its Special Attack with Draco Meteor, creating more opportunities for Salamence to set up or sweep. If Salamence is not running Heavy-Duty Boots, then Excadrill is a good support Pokemon for it by keeping Stealth Rock off the field. Additionally, lead Excadrill can set up Stealth Rock to enable Salamence to sweep more easily against foes like Ogerpon-C and Skarmory. Deoxys-S has access to Spikes and is another great hazard setter to support Salamence, and its ability to deter opposing hazards with Taunt opens Salamence up to running Lum Berry. Steel-types like Scizor and Tinkaton can handle Fairy-types like Fezandipiti and Enamorus-T for Salamence, while Fire-types like Heatran and Skeledirge manage Steel-types like Scizor, Revavroom, and Tinkaton.
