Hello all! While playing with random mons and experimenting on my alt, I found out dracozolt, paired with hustle and scarf, is a tremendous wall breaker. However, since my luck is absolute trash, sand rush with life orb is also great. This team highlights dracozolt's awesome power.
- Hippowdon
Like in every sand team, a nessisity is either ttar or hippo. I chose hippo simple because my team needed a defensive backbone. I experimented with leftovers and smooth rock, and smooth rock highlights dracozolt offense much more. Stone Edge is for volcarona switch-in to scizor in this team (will put scizor set a mon after this) and easily OHKO it.
Hippowdon @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Ferrothorn
Needing a water, grass, fairy resist and all-around utility, I chose ferrothorn. Ferrothorn and Scizor (which again, I will explain the set below ferrothorn) pairs super well with a sand team, as the team is full with fire switch-ins. Ferrothorn can also do, surprisingly, a LOT of damage with gyro ball to punish enemy switch-ins too. (Also useful because it doesn't get buffeted by the sand!)
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Scizor
As I explained in the ferrothorn explanation, scizor has so many resists I can't even count. It has awesome typing, and is viable to the max IMO. I'm going with a swords dance set to scare any enemy attackers into switching into a nice bullet punch. Knock off can win against Toxapex.
Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 196 SpD / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Kyurem
Another water resist and counter with freeze dry. Very helpful against swampert. Draco Meteor for big STAB, when things can go wrong. Standard specs set, open to suggestions to replace this slot.
Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Excadrill
A backup sand sweeper. I used sash because once you get +2 on swords dance, boom. Anything that doesn't resist any of their attacks, gone. Will-O-Wisp can be troubling, especially flame body rng, priority moves.
Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Dracozolt
And finally, the star of the team. Life orb, sand rush, EZ clap. Bolt Beak, ofc, the one move always in dracozolt's moveset for good reason. Dragon Claw, since I'm not going mixed. Fire Fang, you would find extremely useful as a scizor counter, ferrothorn. Earthquake for heatran or whatever, open to suggestions on the last slot!
Dracozolt @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake
Well, thats my RMT. Please do say what you liked and disliked! Open to suggestions always, but remember, dracozolt is the star.
