My search is being weird so if this is already done then whoopsie
Anyway this is the awesome Metagross set that tells Gengar to fuck off.

[SET]
name: Trapper
move 1: Pursuit
move 2: Bullet Punch / Earthquake
move 3: Meteor Mash
move 4: Ice Punch / Explosion
item: Lum Berry
nature: Adamant
evs: 240 HP / 80 Atk / 188 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is an effective check against Gengar, one of the few sets that can stand a fair chance against the Life Orb, Choice Scarf, and Substitute sets that Gengar runs. It also does well against non Reflect Deoxys-S and Zapdos. Metagross will switch in on Gengar and KO the fleeing Gengar with Pursuit. If the Gengar stays in, the second Pursuit will KO it. Lum Berry allows Metagross to absorb one Hypnosis and hit Gengar with Pursuit. Explosion is a possibility over Ice Punch if dealing massive damage once Metagross has taken care of Gengar is your preferable style of play.

The EVs allow Metagross to never be 2HKOed by a Life Orb Timid Gengar's Shadow Ball (even with Stealth Rock, the 2HKO still occurs less than 24% of the time). The high investment into HP and Special Defense also allows Metagross to decently check Zapdos. If Zapdos is a serious issue, Bullet Punch can be dropped for Earthquake, to allow Ice Punch plus an Earthquake on a Roost to more efficiently beat Zapdos. The 358 Attack allows Metagross to always OHKO a fleeing 4 HP / 0 Def Gengar with Pursuit.

Add "of the time" after the phrase "is still less than 24%" . Other than that it looks good. I personally prefer to run EQ > Meteor Mash with Bullet Punch but it doesn't matter.

I would really like explosion as an option. That way after its done trapping it can just explode. Its job would be done and your most likely pursuiting a ghost, or the team mate who would be a ghost. I have used explosion very effectively, and it helps take pokemon like suicune down who have beastly power and after a cm they can be a huge threat to any team. Good set though, it will be a great addition to the analysis.

By the way, would you say pursuiting or pursuing? I know pursuing is the correct way to say it normally, but I think pokemon moves make it an exception. =\

ThunderPunch should be an option so that Gyarados can't set up on you, maybe just in comments.

This is really good. I think I'm gonna run this in my OU team...I seem to have alot of Gengar, Weavile and Gyrados problems...mostly Gengar, so this is gonna help ALOT..thanks Aldaron.

I'm going to run Thunderpunch instead of Ice Punch or Explosion though..like I said, Gyra issues. Plus my playgroup has made Chomp suspect, we're "taking a break" from it, so to speak.

this post is for jrrrrrrr's and Aldaron's purposes...

don't delete this should be on the site but isn't
