Clefable's great movepool, passable bulk, and Magic Guard + Soft-Boiled gives it a , unique niche as a defensive Fairy-type. It's able to fulfill many roles such as a Stealth Rock setter, a support Pokemon thanks to Thunder Wave and Knock Off crippling its checks like Heatran and Mega Scizor, and a potent sweeper with Calm Mind. Magic Guard lets Clefable absorb status moves like Toxic and Will-O-Wisp for teammates like Ting-Lu, Ferrothorn, and Gastrodon. It also allows it to ignore entry hazards, helping it check Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Dragapult. Rocky Helmet punishes U-turn from Mega Lopunny and Landorus-T. The given EV spread allows it to survive two Returns from Mega Lopunny with Leftovers recovery while also checking special attackers like Choice Specs Dragapult. If Rocky Helmet is used, an alternative spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD with a Bold nature is recommended. Tera Water allows Clefable to have a better matchup into rain teams while resisting Steel-type attacks from Pokemon like Mega Scizor and Kingambit, allowing Clefable to catch them off-guard and cripple them. Tera Steel, on the other hand, allows Clefable to catch Tapu Lele and Iron Valiant with a Thunder Wave. Entry hazard setters like Ting-Lu, Garchomp, and Ferrothorn appreciate Clefable's ability to incapacitate common Defog users such as Tornadus-T and Rotom-W thanks to Knock Off. They also appreciate having one moveslot being freed if Clefable carries Stealth Rock. Similarly, Clefable can cripple common entry hazard setters like Ferrothorn and Heatran, helping Defog users like the aforementioned Tornadus-T and Rotom-W perform their role. Toxapex works well with Clefable, as it checks Poison- and Steel-types like Iron Moth and Mega Scizor, helping Clefable spread Thunder Wave or set up with Calm Mind. They can also both overwhelm Ferrothorn, as the former can burn it and the latter nullifies Leech Seed's recovery. If Thunder Wave is used, Hex users like Gholdengo and Dragapult can be used to break Pokemon like Toxapex and Heatran that would otherwise stop Clefable from sweeping with Calm Mind.

Clefable really sets up appart from other Fairy-types ehhh u arent rly that comparable to other fairies, like lele and dia r purely offensive and we rly lack defensive fairy types, reword this thanks to its access to a great movepool, passable bulk, and Magic Guard paired with reliable recovery. All of those traits makes Clefable one of the most versatile Pokemon, being able to fulfill many roles such as a Stealth Rock setter, support thanks to Thunder Wave and Knock Off crippling its checks like Heatran and Mega Scizor, and a potent sweeper with Calm Mind. Futhermore, thanks to Magic Guard, Clefable can absorb Toxic from the likes of Gastrodon, just reword to say damaging status moves imo, taking wisp from washer can also be rly helpful for mons like ting lu n ferro Landorus-T, and Salt Cure from Garganacl while being able to punish them with Knock Off or setup with Calm Mind. It also allows it to ignore Entry hazards, helping it checking Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Dragapult. Leftovers improves Clefable's staying power, while if this is all u have to say about leftovers apart from the roll u get on lop return idt this is needed Rocky Helmet punishes U-Turn from Mega Lopunny and Landorus-T. The given EV spread allows it to handle 2 Return from Mega Lopunny with Leftovers recovery while also checking special attackers like Choice Specs Dragapult. If Rocky Helmet is used, an alternative spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD in conjonction with a Bold nature is recommended. Tera Water allows Clefable to have a better time into Rain teams while also making it neutral to Poison- and Steel-types attacks. u dont actually beat the steels and poisons anyways, like ghold kingambit heatran maw + our poisons rnt running psn moves besides slowking g and venu, but idt they're on the vr, and glimm is specific Steel, on the other hand, completely reverse Clefable's type match up chart card, and allows it to catch Tapu Lele and Iron Valiant with a Thunder Wave. Entry hazards setters like Ting Lu, Garchomp, and Ferrothorn appreciate Clefable's ability to incapacitate common Defog users such as Tornadus-T and Rotom-W thanks to Knock Off. They also appreciate having one moveslot being freed if Clefable carries Stealth Rock. Similarly, Clefable can cripple common hazards setters like Ferrothorn and Heatran, helping Defog users like the aforementioned Tornadus-T and Rotom to perform their role. Toxapex works well with Clefable, as it can check Poison- and Steel-types like attacks from the likes of Iron Moth and Mega Scizor, respectively, helping Clefable spreading Thunder Waves or having a better time to stack Calm Mind's boosts. They can also both overwhelm Ferrothorn, as the former can burn it and the latter nullifies Leech Seed's recovery. Finally, if Thunder Wave is used, Hex users like Gholdengo and Dragapult pairs well with Clefable, as they appreciate Clefable's ability to easily spread paralysis. In return, they can break Pokemon like Toxapex and Heatran that would otherwise stop Clefable from sweeping with Calm Mind.
