Thanks to its unique typing and the combination of Magma Storm, Taunt, and Toxic, Heatran acts as an offensive wallbreaker capable of trapping and remove Pokemon like Clodsire and Toxapex for its teammates. Heatran's fantastic typing also allows it to check Pokemon like Tornadus-T, non-Close Combat or Sand Tomb Mega Scizor, and Tapu Lele. Leftovers gives Heatran longevity and consistency in its role, while Air Balloon lets it check itself and avoid Earthquake from common switch-ins like Garchomp, Gastrodon, and Gliscor. Firium Z allows Heatran to nuke the aforementioned Gliscor and Clodsire. While it doesn't help Heatran offensively, Tera Grass is its best Tera type; it gives it a resistance to Earthquake and takes advantage of the aforementioned Ground-types while also allowing it to be a nightmare for rain teams, as it can now spread Toxic and chip foes on rain very easily. Pivots like Tornadus-T, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-W makes great partners, as they lure Steel-types like Ferrothorn, Corviknight, and Mega Scizor, letting Heatran threaten them with a KO. It also appreciates Pokemon that share checks with it, such as Dragapult, Tornadus-T, and Gholdengo, as Heatran can cripple these common checks, namely Toxapex, Mega Tyranitar, and Gastrodon. Knock Off users like Toxapex and Tornadus-T remove Clodsire's and Toxapex's items, making them less consistent at checking Heatran in the long run.

Thanks to its unique typing and access to the combination of Magma Storm, Taunt, and Toxic, Heatran acts as an offensive wallbreaker capable of trapping and remove Pokemon like Clodsire Blissey and Toxapex for its teammates. It's nearly uncheckable, as there's only a limited pool capable of handling it. Heatran's fantastic typing also allows it to check Pokemon like Tornadus-T, non-Close Combat Mega Scizor, and Tapu Lele. Leftovers gives Heatran staying power, making it easier for it to do its job, while Air Balloon lets it to not only check itself but also to avoid Earthquake from common switch in like Garchomp, Gastrodon and Gliscor. Finally, Firium Z allows Heatran to nuke the aforementioned Gliscor and Clodsire. While it doesn't help offensively Heatran, Tera Grass is its best Tera type: not only it make it resist to Earthquake and take advantage of the aforementioned Ground-types, it also allows it to be a nightmare for rain teams, as it can now spread toxic and chip rain foes very easily. Pivots like Tornadus-T, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-W it feels weird to mention rotom-w as an example when u dont rly bait in sciz or corv? mention another pivot here like pult makes great partners, as they lures Steel-types like Ferrothorn, Corviknight and Mega Scizor in, that Heatran threaten with a KO. It also appreciates Pokemon that share checks with it, such as Dragapult, Tornadus-T, and Gholdengo, as Heatran can cripple these common checks, namely Toxapex, Mega Tyranitar, and Gastrodon for its partners. can mention spikes which heavily wear down ting lu, garchomp, etc, as well as knock support to remove boots from checks like clod gastro pex etc
