Deoxys-S
QC: 3/3 (Sweep, Hack, shrang)
GP: 2/2 (macrarazy + Lemonade., Winry.)

Overview
########

A blistering base 180 Speed and access to both Spikes and Stealth Rock make Deoxys-S one of the best entry hazard setters in the Ubers metagame. Unlike its extremely frail counterpart Deoxys-A, Deoxys-S has the bulk to set up multiple layers of Spikes, whereas Deoxys-A is normally limited to a single layer. Deoxys-S's biggest advantage over Klefki is its access to Taunt, allowing it to prevent users of Defog from removing the entry hazards it has set up. Alternatively, Deoxys-S's bulk makes it a good user of dual screens as well. Unfortunately, Deoxys-S has a poor offensive presence, so it can do little if it is hit by Taunt. Moreover, Deoxys-S usually just sets up its screens or entry hazards and then faints, which means its efforts can go to waste if the opponent is able to get a Defog off. The arrival of two new Magic Bounce users in Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye also bother Deoxys-S by bouncing back its entry hazards. Luckily, Deoxys-S has access to Skill Swap in order to get past both of them. Stacking entry hazards is a bit more difficult in Ubers than it once was, but Deoxys-S has all the tools it need to do the job correctly.

Entry Hazard Lead
########
name: Entry Hazard Lead
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Spikes
move 4: Knock Off / Skill Swap
ability: Pressure
item: Focus Sash
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly / Timid

Moves
========

Stealth Rock discourages your opponent from switching their Pokemon often, and Deoxys-S's high Speed means it is all but guaranteed to set it up. Taunt lets Deoxys-S shut down opposing entry hazard leads, in addition to Defog users and setup sweepers. Setting up multiple layers of Spikes is also easy due to its high Speed. Spikes in combination with Stealth Rock will give your foes a difficult time switching in. Knock Off is an option to prevent Deoxys-S from becoming complete Taunt bait and to cripple foes that rely on their items. Alternatively, Skill Swap will steal Magic Bounce from the likes of Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye, preventing them from reflecting your entry hazards back.

Set Details
========

Focus Sash helps Deoxys-S set up an extra layer of entry hazards, as its bulk is subpar. The given EVs maximize Deoxys-S's Speed in order to ensure it can set up entry hazards quickly. If you are running Knock Off, then maximize its Attack investment and use a Jolly nature. Otherwise, use a Timid nature and a bulky EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe.

Usage Tips
========

This set will almost always be leading and is fairly predictable because of that. If you see a Pokemon that has a good type matchup against Deoxys-S in Team Preview, the opponent will likely use it as an anti-lead. Magic Bounce users are also likely to anti-lead, so make sure to use Skill Swap if you have it. Otherwise, lead with a teammate that can damage them. If the opponent has a Defog user, set up entry hazards before using Taunt on them.

Team Options
========

Common sweepers such as Primal Groudon and Xerneas will threaten most Defog users with pure offensive pressure. Alternatively, Darkrai directly threatens common Defoggers such as Latios, Latias, and Giratina-O with its STAB Dark Pulse. A spinblocker, such as Ghost Arceus, will prevent foes with Rapid Spin from removing your entry hazards. A spinner provides entry hazard removal and, unlike Defog, Rapid Spin does not remove the entry hazards that Deoxys-S has already set up. A great spinner is Excadrill, which synergizes well on the offensive teams that commonly use Deoxys-S.

Dual Screens
########
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Stealth Rock
ability: Pressure
item: Light Clay
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Reflect and Light Screen will double the defenses of your team for 8 turns, giving Deoxys-S's teammates better opportunities to set up. Taunt prevents Defoggers from removing the dual screens, opposing leads from setting entry hazards, sweepers from setting up, and slower Taunt users from Taunting Deoxys-S. Stealth Rock further allows Deoxys-S to support its team and can be easily set up because of Deoxys-S's high Speed.

Set Details
========

The given EVs and a Timid nature maximize Deoxys-S's bulk and Speed in order to ensure it can set up screens quickly and often. Light Clay is to prolong the duration of Reflect and Light Screen.

Usage Tips
========

With no attacking options, Deoxys-S is complete Taunt bait. If you see a Prankster Taunt user on your opponent's side in Team Preview, it may be used as an anti-lead for Deoxys-S, so hold off on sending it out. This set is often used as a lead, but is not limited to a leading role, as Deoxys-S's decent bulk gives it multiple opportunities to set up dual screens throughout the match. If the opponent brings in a potential Defogger, Taunt it and use the free turns that Taunt provides in order to bring in a setup sweeper.

Team Options
========

Deoxys-S itself does not need a lot of support; instead, you need teammates that can take advantage of dual screens. It finds a home on hyper offense teams, as setup sweepers enjoy the added bulk from dual screens, which makes it easier for them to set up and sweep. Setup Pokemon that enjoy support from Deoxys-S include Nasty Plot Darkrai, Extreme Killer Arceus, and Dragon Dance Mega Salamence. Mega Gengar can switch in and trap a foe on a predicted Defog or a weakened attack.

Other Options
########

Magic Coat is another way to punish opposing entry hazard leads as well as Prankster Taunt from Thundurus and Sableye, but Deoxys-S typically lacks room for the move, as it is better off using Skill Swap in this metagame. Deoxys-S has various offensive options, but often lacks room for them and is not powerful enough to make use of them most of the time. Mental Herb can be used to protect Deoxys-S from Prankster Taunt users, but it finds Focus Sash and Light Clay more useful.

Checks & Counters
########

**Defog**: Once Deoxys-S has fainted, a Defogger can easily wipe out your screens and entry hazards. The most threatening users are Latias, Latios, and Giratina-O, as Levitate grants them immunity to Spikes.

**Magic Bounce**: Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye can bounce back Deoxys-S's entry hazards.

**Priority**: Deoxys-S is vulnerable to priority attacks that can 2HKO it after it sets up only one layer of hazards, such as Giratina-O's Shadow Sneak and Arceus's Extreme Speed. A strong U-turn user such as Scizor can also cut down Deoxys-S's health and possibly bring it down to its Focus Sash while providing the user with a free switch into a priority attacker to pick off Deoxys-S.

**Prankster Taunt**: Prankster Taunt cripples any Deoxys-S without Magic Coat. Also, even if it is carrying Magic Coat, the presence of Taunt often forces you to make a prediction.

**Multi-Hit Moves**: Mega Kangaskhan, Cloyster, and Scolipede all carry multi-hit moves to break Deoxys-S's Focus Sash.

**Passive Damage**: Sandstorm, poison, and burn are all ways to break Deoxys-S's Focus Sash.

Thanks Thetwinmasters and CyberWolf; I'll work on it ASAP.

EDIT: Set is done. Also, should I slash an attacking move alongside Stealth Rock in the first set in order to prevent Dual Screens Deoxys-S from becoming Taunt bait?

idr c&c policy about listing actually IVs, but if you're going to mention minimizing confusion and Foul Play damage you should mention 0 Attack IVs with that

for dual screens I would put less emphasis on partners using Taunt to prevent Defogging away screens, you don't really need to bother and is situational. It's win-win in a sense: if they Defog that's a free turn your sweeper to set up / free switch (and most, especially the examples you listed, can OHKO Latis). If they attack, well you are behind screens so you take less damage. To convey this maybe under Usage Tips say something like if the opponent brings in a potential Defog user, use that opportunity to set up or get a free switch. oops I'm dumb, I was thinking of when they bring in a Defog user vs. your other Mons, not Deo-S (which isn't relevant here because it's Usage Tips for Deo-S). Obviously Taunt immediately. Under Team Options maybe even remove having a Taunt user as a partner (Darkrai doesn't really have the moveslot, Thundy isn't really too relevant, and I wouldn't use Sableye on a screens team tbh). Mega Gengar could maybe use a mention since you can switch in on the Defog / weakened attack and trap them.

Similarly, in Hazard Lead, less about having a teammate with a fast Taunt to prevent Defog and more about Pokemon that either flat out threaten Defog users (Darkrai once again), or just Pokemon that don't give Defog users much room to breathe (general offensive pressure I guess). RP / SD Primal Groudon, EKiller, Xern, generic sweeper etc. SD Arceus Ghost is a cool option since the disappear of Shadow Force prevents Defog I'm pretty sure, and once again Ghostceus threatens the Latis and Giratina-O. I would mention these first, and then add optional to the spinblocker (since spinners are that uncommon), and optional to your own spinner (since it's hard to find a turn to do so and overall offense is less affected by hazards).

For C&C probably put Magic Bounce second since it includes Prankster Taunt user Sableye on the turn it Mega Evolves, and other Prankster Taunt users are uncommon / mediocre.

Done.

Needs skill swap slash, sash+hazards is better than screens, the insurance you get with sash is infinitely more worth than screens. Magic Coat slash needs to be off, can't really afford that space. 252 HP main spread for sash deo-s if running no knock off, obviously. No Rocky Helm slash either, it's shit. If other qc have nothing to reject then qc 2/3

also needs to change this:

- If the opponent brings in a potential Defog user, use that opportunity to gain a free switch for a sweeper

to

- If the opponent brings in a potential Defog user, taunt.

I'm dumb I was thinking of if the opponent brings in a Defog user against a teammate, which isn't relevant because it's Usage Tips for Deo-S.

No worries- thank you again for your feedback last night.
This is written and ready for the final QC.

Add priority to Checks and Counters. Make sure the examples you give are strong enough to 2HKO Deo-S before it can set up a second layer, though. Stuff like Shadow Sneak Giratina-O is what I'm looking for. You can also mention that with priority, a strong U-turn + priority also works, so something like U-turn Scizor -> any priority (eg Shadow Sneak Greninja/Ekiller/Giratina-O).

Add these and I'll approve.

winry sucks

Overview:

Moreover, Deoxys-S usually just sets up its screens or entry hazards and then dies, which means its efforts can go to waste if the opponent is able to get a Defog off. opponent's Defog user is still alive.

Reasoning: it's very unlikely the opponent's Defog user will be KOed in the beginning of the game, where it is most relevant for Deo-S to be setting up

just say:

The two viable Magic Bounce users, Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye, also bother...(this change is fine)

Moves:

Spikes-stacking is also easy due to its high Speed can also be done with ease due to the Speed it possesses.

Less wordy, "can also be done with ease" is also awkward

Whereas Skill Swap will steal Magic Bounce from the likes of Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye, preventing them from reflecting your entry hazards back.

Your version is not a sentence. Also, whereas should show some contrast (Whereas X is good in situation Y, W is good in situation Z). Alternatively is fine to keep, and removing "thus is fine".

Set Details:

Focus Sash helps Deoxys-S set up an extra layer of hazards, as its bulk is subpar. as its bulk, while good, is not spectacular.

good and spectacular is a bit vague and fluffy. Also doesn't flow that well.

Magic Bounce cripples this set, so make sure to Skill Swap once the opponent switches in their Diancie or Sableye. Magic Bounce users are also likely to anti-lead, so make sure to use Skill Swap if Deoxys-S has it. Otherwise, lead with a teammate that can damage them.

changing content to be a bit more specific

Team Options is fine

Moves:

Stealth Rock further allows Deoxys-S to support its team by getting up a layer of an entry hazards, which it can do easily because of its high Speed.

Usage Tips:

don't really need to change match into battle imo, doesn't really matter either way

Team Options:

Deoxys-S itself does not need a lot of support itself; instead, you need teammates that it can support take advantage of dual screens.

more specific

Mega Gengar can switch in and trap a foe on a predicted Defog or a weak weakened attack.

weak just makes it sound like a generic attack, weakened conveys that dual screens are up

Magic Bounce: just say "Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye can bounce back Deoxys-S's hazards."

Passive Damage: no need for anything after "Focus Sash,". limiting... is fine. Also, "and so" doesn't really convey that the previous statement causes what follows. Overall sounds a bit awkward.

Thanks macrarazy and Lemonade. Most changes implemented.
  1. I reworded the second sentence in the Moves section of the Dual Screens set because "entry hazard setters from setting hazards" sounds repetitive.
  2. "Bounce back" sounds more accurate than "bounce off", as it indicates where the hazards are going after being Magic Bounced.
  3. Is "hyper offense" allowed to be abbreviated as HO? I'm not 100% sure about that one. I could be wrong, though.

Deoxys-S has various offensive options, but often lacks room for them, (RC) and is not powerful enough to make use of them most of the time. Mental Herb can be used to protect Deoxys-S from Prankster Taunt users, but it finds Focus Sash and Light Clay more useful.

**Defog**: Once Deoxys-S has fainted, a Defogger can easily wipe out your screens and entry hazards. The most threatening users are Latias, Latios, and Giratina-O, (AC) as Levitate grants them immunity to Spikes.

A strong U-turn user such as Scizor can also cut down Deoxys-S's health and possibly bring it down to its Focus Sash, (RC) while providing the user with a free switch into a priority attacker to pick off Deoxys-S.

Overview

Moreover, Deoxys-S usually just sets up its screens or entry hazards and then faints dies, which means its efforts can go to waste if the opponent is able to get a Defog off. The arrival of two new Magic Bounce users in Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye also bother Deoxys-S by bouncing back its entry hazards. Luckily, Deoxys-S has access to Skill Swap in order to get past both of them. Stacking entry hazards is a bit more difficult in Ubers than it once was, but Deoxys-S has all the tools it need to do the job correctly.

Entry Hazard Lead
########
name: Entry Hazard Lead
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Spikes
move 4: Knock Off / Skill Swap
ability: Pressure
item: Focus Sash
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly / Timid

Moves
========

Stealth Rock discourages your opponent from switching their Pokemon often, and Deoxys-S's high Speed means it is all but guaranteed to set it up. Taunt lets Deoxys-S shut down opposing entry hazard leads, in addition to Defog users and setup sweepers. Setting up multiple layers of Spikes Spikes-stacking is also easy due to its high Speed. Spikes in combination with Stealth Rock will give your foes a difficult time switching in. Knock Off is an option to prevent Deoxys-S from becoming complete Taunt bait, (RC) and to cripple foes that rely on their items. Alternatively, Skill Swap will steal Magic Bounce from the likes of Mega Diancie and Mega Sableye, preventing them from reflecting your entry hazards back.

Set Details
========

Focus Sash helps Deoxys-S set up an extra layer of entry hazards, (AC) as its bulk is subpar.

Usage Tips
========

This set will almost always be leading, (RC) and is fairly predictable because of that.

========

A spinner provides entry hazard removal and, (AC) unlike Defog, and Rapid Spin does not remove the entry hazards that Deoxys-S has already set up. A great spinner is Excadrill, which who synergizes well on the offensive teams that commonly use Deoxys-S.

Dual Screens
########
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Stealth Rock
ability: Pressure
item: Light Clay
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Reflect and Light Screen will double the defenses of your team for 8 turns, giving Deoxys-S's teammates better opportunities to set up. Taunt prevents Defoggers from removing the dual screens, opposing leads from setting hazards, sweepers from setting up, and slower Taunt users from Taunting Deoxys-S. Stealth Rock further allows Deoxys-S to support its team and can be easily set up by getting up an entry hazard, which it can do easily because of its Deoxys-S's high Speed.

Set Details
========

The given EVs and a Timid nature maximize Deoxys-S's bulk and Speed in order to ensure it can set up screens quickly and often. Light Clay is to prolong the duration of Reflect and Light Screen.

Usage Tips
========

========

Deoxys-S itself does not need a lot of support; instead, you need teammates that can take advantage of dual screens. It finds a home on hyper offense teams, as setup sweepers enjoy the added bulk from dual screens, (AC) which make making it easier for them to set up and sweep. Setup Pokemon that enjoy support from Deoxys-S include Nasty Plot Darkrai, Extreme Killer Arceus, and Dragon Dance Mega Salamence. Mega Gengar can switch in and trap a foe on a predicted Defog or a weakened attack.
