As we all know, Pokemon Showdown is getting a competitor from Lord Game Freak themselves when Pokemon Champions releases. And as happened to many innocent fan games in the past, Game Freak may take Pokemon Showdown and send them to the farm upstate. So on the last day of Pokemon Showdown, or the first day before Pokemon Champion’s release, I propose we all have a truce wherein all battles will be 1v1 lvl 1 magikarp battles. This will be a great standoff to a great website, and I encourage all to join.

This either has the potential to be kinda neat if the game is entirely F2P and they implement gimmicks in a cool way or a flaming fucking disaster when it turns out to be loaded with microtransactions and you need to buy $500 worth of loot crates on average to unlock Landorus-T or whatever. I'm leaning like 90/10 towards the latter.
Also the fact that they haven't C&D'd showdown yet is interesting, usually they get fan games taken down like a solid 2 years in advance of announcing whatever game they're working on.

Showdown's code is open source. Just make your own better showdown if gamefreak issues a C&D.

Yeah there will 100% be a time limit on games and it will probably be like 10 minutes, so no you aren't going to torture 9 year olds with Funbro and ReviveCats, sorry to disappoint. GameFreak is miles ahead of us on this one.
