[OVERVIEW]
A sky-high attack stat that is bolstered even further by Gorilla Tactics in conjunction with a good Speed tier makes Galarian Darmanitan one of the tier's premier Choice Scarf users, as it can revenge kill notable threats such as Zygarde, Dragapult, and Landorus-T. Galarian Darmanitan also boasts great coverage options that allow it to threaten a large majority of the metagame, while U-turn allows it to keep up momentum and take advantage of its ability to force switches. Galarian Darmanitan can also utilize Choice Band to great effect, as it gains immense power while still having a sufficient Speed tier for a wallbreaker of its caliber, being able to overwhelm common defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex, Tangrowth, and Tapu Fini. However, Galarian Darmanitan is held back somewhat by its horrendous defensive typing that leaves it with no defensive utility whatsoever and burdens it with a weakness to all entry hazards. This, in conjunction with chip damage from Tangrowth's Rocky Helmet and Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs, means that Galarian Darmanitan is worn down quickly over the course of a match. Prepared teams can also pivot around Galarian Darmanitan thanks to Gorilla Tactics always locking it into a move and its reliance on its coverage moves to deal with most common defensive cores. This makes Galarian Darmanitan a very prediction-reliant wallbreaker at times. Both sets also sit at somewhat awkward Speed tiers, as the Choice Scarf set is outrun by common Choice Scarf users like Hydreigon, Kartana, and Greninja, while the Choice Band set is outpaced by several offensive Pokemon, such as Mega Metagross, Ash-Greninja, and Tornadus-T. Galarian Darmanitan's low bulk and poor typing also leave it vulnerable to strong priority from the likes of Mega Lopunny, Ash-Greninja, and Zygarde.

Set Description
========
U-turn takes advantage of Galarian Darmanitan's ability to force switches and gain momentum for your team. Flare Blitz provides crucial coverage for Ferrothorn, Corviknight, and Mega Metagross, as well as for most other Steel-types in the tier. Earthquake slams Heatran and Toxapex, which otherwise completely wall the set. It's also Galarian Darmanitan's best way of pushing damage onto Tapu Fini and Mega Blastoise. Superpower is an option over Flare Blitz to OHKO Mega Tyranitar and to threaten Rotom-H and Rotom-W while still hitting Ferrothorn very hard, but the stat drops make Galarian Darmanitan very exploitable. It also has severely reduced damage output on Corviknight.
Usage Tips
========
Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan is to be used chiefly as an offensive pivot or a wallbreaker that can keep momentum with U-turn while seriously threatening several key defensive Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Ferrothorn, and Heatran. Galarian Darmanitan's ability to threaten Tangrowth, Landorus-T, and Toxapex can allow it to gain momentum with U-turn, which can be key in breaking down your opponent's defensive core. Be sure to get entry hazards off your side of the field before pivoting, however, as Galarian Darmanitan will be worn down extremely quickly otherwise. Galarian Darmanitan's Speed tier when holding a Choice Scarf allows it to be used as a revenge killer against several key Pokemon such as Dragapult, Hydreigon, and Serperior.
Team Options
========
Galarian Darmanitan fits best on more balanced and offensive builds that need its combination of speed and power to wear down the opposing team. Galarian Darmanitan will be switching in and out a lot, so good entry hazard control is required in order to keep it around for as long as possible. Tapu Fini is a great partner, as it has access to Defog in addition to dealing with Mega Blastoise, which sets up on Galarian Darmanitan, and Ash-Greninja, which can revenge kill Galarian Darmanitan. Luring in defensive Water-types that Galarian Darmanitan can't get past, such as Slowbro and Rotom-W, is a good way to increase its overall effectiveness. Pokemon such as Grassium Z Heatran and Electrium Z Dragapult are good teammates as a result. Galarian Darmanitan has a habit of letting dangerous wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Landorus-T, Dracovish, and Mega Metagross in if it is locked into the wrong move. As such, a good defensive core to support Galarian Darmanitan is appreciated. Pokemon that fit this role include the aforementioned Tapu Fini and Heatran, but options such as Slowbro and Tangrowth work as well. These Pokemon, in turn, appreciate Galarian Darmanitan's ability to revenge kill slower wallbreakers that threaten them such as Hydreigon and Z-Move Tornadus-T. VoltTurn partners such as Rotom-H, Teleport Slowbro, and Mega Scizor can create excellent pivoting cores with Galarian Darmanitan and let it in safely.

Set Description
========
U-turn is very useful for gaining momentum and hits surprisingly hard thanks to the ridiculous power provided by Choice Band. Superpower allows Darmanitan to slam both relevant Rotom formes as well as most of the tier's Steel-types. (Earthquake is largely used for bulky Water-types on this set, with Toxapex and Tapu Fini always being 2HKOed. It also deals a surprisingly hard hit onto Slowbro. Earthquake is also the only option that this set has to hit Aegislash and bulky Volcarona and provides the hardest hit on Mega Metagross,. Flare Blitz has some merit over Superpower thanks to its ability to OHKO Corviknight, but Corviknight is still threatened by Icicle Crash, and being walled by the Rotom formes is not preferable.
Usage Tips
========
Choice Band Galarian Darmanitan is to be used primarily as a wallbreaker that takes advantage of its obscene power. This set should see a lot of play early-game in order to punch holes in the opponent's defensive backbone. It is quite good at this, as even frailer resistant Pokemon will take significant damage from Icicle Crash, and most Pokemon that can switch into Icicle Crash have to be careful of blundering into one of Galarian Darmanitan's coverage moves. Galarian Darmanitan is an excellent pivot due to its ability to force switches onto from several notable Pokemon such as Tangrowth and Heatran lacking Protect. Attempting to bluff the more common Choice Scarf set can allow Galarian Darmanitan to surprise several of its normal checks, such as Rotom-H, Volcarona, and Rotom-W, with a significantly harder hit.
Team Options
========
Choice Band Galarian Darmanitan can find a good spot on more balanced and offensive builds that need to open up a hole in the opponent's defensive core to let their late-game cleaners run wild. Galarian Darmanitan's exploitable Speed tier leads to it having a relatively poor matchup against offensive builds. Teammates such as Mega Lopunny and Dragapult can plug this hole, as they can threaten a lot of standard offensive Pokemon. This set needs a solid defensive backbone behind it, as most of Galarian Darmanitan's moves can be exploited if it is locked into them. Tangrowth, Slowbro, Tapu Fini, and Toxapex are all good partners as a result. This set also appreciates Defog or Rapid Spin support thanks to its tendency to switch in and out a lot, so entry hazard removers such as Tapu Fini, Tornadus-T, and Corviknight are all good partners. VoltTurn support from the likes of Rotom-H, Tornadus-T, and Slowbro can allow Galarian Darmanitan to get in safely, which also forms effective pivoting cores with them. Pairing Galarian Darmanitan with other wallbreakers such as Nasty Plot Hydreigon, Swords Dance Landorus-T, and Swords Dance Kartana can form an overwhelming wallbreaking force that can systematically beat down each other's checks.

Other Options
=============
Rock Slide hits Rotom-H harder than anything else Galarian Darmanitan has and also provides it with a consistent way to beat Volcarona, but it has very little utility outside of that.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Bulky Water-types**: Slowbro is one of the best checks to Galarian Darmanitan, as it takes negligible damage from Icicle Crash and can take most of its coverage moves with ease. It does have to be wary of U-turn, however, which not only gives Galarian Darmanitan's team momentum but also hits it super effectively. U-turn from the Choice Band set is seriously threatening in its own right as well. Rotom-W greatly dislikes eating a Choice Band-boosted Superpower, but it stonewalls the standard Choice Scarf set and can gain momentum with Volt Switch. Other bulky Water-types such as Toxapex and Tapu Fini can take Galarian Darmanitan's STAB move with relative ease, although Earthquake still hits them for significant damage. Tapu Fini is also very vulnerable to being chipped down, so it can't check Galarian Darmanitan as well as the other Pokemon, which all have recovery options. Rotom-W not carrying Pain Split has this issue as well. Mega Blastoise can also take advantage of Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, as it doesn't mind any of its moves except for Earthquake and can proceed to set up on it.
**Revenge Killers**: Galarian Darmanitan is threatened by virtually every priority move in the tier. Mega Lopunny, Mega Metagross, Zygarde, Ash-Greninja, and Aegislash are all common Pokemon that can viably carry a strong priority attack. Most need prior chip damage to take down Galarian Darmanitan, although Galarian Darmanitan's weakness to entry hazards and other forms of residual damage means that it can fall into KO range of these attacks quite quickly. In addition, faster Choice Scarf users such as Greninja and Kartana all greatly threaten Galarian Darmanitan.
**Fire-types**: Rotom-H takes any attack bar a Choice Band-boosted Superpower well and can OHKO Galarian Darmanitan with Overheat or gain momentum with Volt Switch. Bulky Volcarona can also take on the standard Choice Scarf Set, but it must watch out for a Choice Band-boosted Earthquake and the rare Rock Slide.
**Steel-types**: Most of the tier's Steel-types take Galarian Darmanitan's STAB move easily and threaten it in return, although they have to be very careful to not take one of its coverage moves. Mega Metagross comes in on Icicle Crash and proceeds to threaten Galarian Darmanitan with Meteor Mash or Bullet Punch. Both Heatran and Aegislash also take Icicle Crash well, and they often carry protection moves that allow them to scout what move Galarian Darmanitan is using. Faster Steel-types such as Choice Scarf Kartana can also cleanly revenge kill Galarian Darmanitan.
**Residual Damage**: A weakness to all entry hazards in conjunction with Flare Blitz recoil and potential Rocky Helmet chip damage leads to Galarian Darmanitan getting worn down quickly over the course of a match, which can leave it in range of strong priority attacks.
