Dark and Psychic Dragons

Sup Smogon! So it's been a while since I last posted an RMT (like 2 weeks lol) and I wanted to post this RMT as I wanted to share this team with you all. I had been wanting to make a hyper offensive team that didn't give a fuck about entry hazards, I hate Spikes and Toxic Spikes with a passion, Stealth Rock too but not really as much. Anyways I'm very very surprised how good the team turned out to be and after playing tons of matches I gotta say it's the most successful weather less OU team I have made.

team_building.png
So I first started with the 2 pokemon I wanted to make a team around Latios and Hydreigon. Since both were immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes I got the idea of making the whole team immune to both Spikes that way I can switch in my pokes easier and stuff not to mention having so much fun facing stall teams who rely on wearing down pokemon with entry hazards. I absolutely needed a pokemon that could check rain teams and be able to switch into water moves and hurricanes so in comes Rotom-W.

Next I wanted another sweeper since afterall this was going to be an offensive team so I added Reuniclus who with Magic Guard makes it immune to SS damage and entry hazards. Reuniclus is a great pokemon to use in offensive teams so I just had to add him not to mention he can actually take a few hits while hitting back really hard.

Now I noticed opposing dragons were going to be a problem and sun teams in general so what better pokemon than Heatran? It could also provide Stealth Rock and was a good check to Scizor. Yes I know Heatran is not immune to Spikes but I solved that issue with Air balloon.

So finally I needed a 6th pokemon I was unsure on what to use but I went with Gliscor since I guess I could consider it something to hit sand teams hard but not only that it can set up on common pokemon like Ferrothorn and Forretress and gets so many set up opportunities due to how he forces switches often so in comes Gliscor.

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Probably not what you see everyday but at +1 +1 this is very hard to revenge kill specially late game as most common revenge killers like Terrakion, Keldeo, Genesect, Landorus, Jirachi, Garchomp won't be able to outspeed. Why this over the Special set you may ask? well I wanted a sweeper who was unpredictable and could clean late game with ease and was also immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes so I went with Latios. This set is SO underrated. That's all I have to say. Anyways I used Life Orb because I need it to hit as hard as possible after a boost. Dragon Dance boosts it's attack and speed to sky high levels outspeeding almost everything even with Scarf. Outrage because it's STAB and good luck surviving one of these at +1 if you're not a Steel type. Earthquake lets it hit all those steels and hits Tyranitar harder than Outrage. Hidden Power Fire rounds off the set and it lets it OHKO Scizor and other 4x weak to fire pokemon.

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SAtk / 192 Spd
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Superpower
- Sunny Day

This thing has NO true counters and is a pokemon every team out there should prepare for as this doesn't play any games. Anyways I went with the wallbreaker set as I don't like the other sets and hate being locked into one move. This usually takes 2 pokes out a game which is awesome, Draco Meteor is his main move and hits everything that's not a steel hard this move alone OHKO's alot of stuff. Fire Blast roasts all those common steel types Ferrothorn and Scizor anyone? Superpower lets it hit mainly Tyranitar and Heatran but it also lets me hit the pink blobs trying to wall Hydreigon. Last but not least it's Sunny Day I originally had Roost on this spot but rain teams were really getting anoying and Jirachi could actually counter my Hydreigon in rain but now that's not much of an issue. Also I was starting to lose matches due to hax from flinch hax Jirachi in the rain before I had Sunny Day, Jirachi can still be a problem but this helps a lot.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder Wave
- Pain Split

Next is Rotom-W who is like the glue that holds this team together. Rotom-W is my main check to rain teams and it does his job so well checking Politoed, Gyarados, Tornadus-T, Landorus, Mamoswine, Gliscor etc. I went with the specially defensive set since after I tested other sets they were worn down very quickly and honestly didn't do too much. I actually lowered the IV's so that I can be slower against other Rotom-W to have the switch in advantage. Volt switch is the move he uses the most and was a great addition in gen 5 as it's like U-turn and we all know how good that move is which is part of the reason Genesect was banned in Smogon tiers. Hydro Pump is the only water move he even gets aside from HP water which is too weak but although the accuracy sucks it's still a powerful move that hits hard even without special attack investment. Thunder Wave let's it cripple common switch ins such as Lati@s before this I had Will-O-Wisp and had a lot of problems against Calm Mind Lati@s since nothing on my team could outspeed them. Anyways I usually lead with this never with Latios.

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 192 HP / 64 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball

Next is Reuniclus who is awesome on this team and another one of my sweepers. Late game it does it's job very well at cleaning up and with his bulk and Magic Guard it's very easy to set up Trick Room. Trick Room we all know what it does but it's what it turns this cute looking pokemon into a devestating pokemon who can wreak havoc in 5 turns with it's great special attack and great coverage. Psychic is his STAB and hits very hard you would be surprised how many OHKO's this move alone gets late game. Focus Blast lets it hit Tyranitar and those steel types who resist Psychic these two moves alone provide great coverage. Shadow Ball is for ghost types and psychics and it hits them harder than Psychic. Every team should watch out for this.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Next is the other glue that holds this team together. This is my main check to sun teams and if I see Dugtrio I have to play very carefully around it. Not only that though it has the amazing steel types that lets it tank dragon moves. I gave it Air Balloon because it's very useful in some situations against things that pack Earthquake such as Gliscor, Dragonite etc. Did I mention it makes it immune to Spikes? This is also my check to Scizor and Genesect who would do my team a number if Heatran wasn't here. Thanks so much Gamefreak for making this pokemon lol. Anyways I went with the offensive set since this is a Hyper Offensive team afterall. Stealth Rock because it's rocks and every team should have it and also breaks Dragonite's Multiscale. Fire Blast is STAB and hit's very hard coming off that 130 base Special Attack. Earth Power is to hit other Heatran and have something to hit pokemon resistant to Fire really. Hidden Power Ice to revenge kill Dragons on a rampage with Outrage.
tumblr_m9bn1657Sd1qckwxco1_500.gif

Gliscor @ Flying Gem
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance

Last but not least Gliscor. This is a force to be reckoned with even without Sand Veil. I chose Poison Heal as his ability as it allows it to switch into Toxic from things like the pink blobs. It also makes for a good revenge killer to Lucario who would otherwise be big threat late game. This can set up on so many things such as Tyranitar and Ferrothorn and then proceed to punch holes on my opponents team or possibly sweeping their whole team. Substitute is to block it from Leech Seed and to sub as they switch out their pokemon to a faster threat. Earthquake and Acrobatics are STAB and have pretty good coverage by them selves. Swords Dance doubles his attack so he can achieve OHKO's. Flying Gem lets Acrobatics hit very hard after a boost even things that resist it are hit very hard. I went with Jolly over Adamant as I don't want to risk not being able to revenge kill Jolly Lucario and I don't feel any drop in power whatsoever. I've been thinking of changing Poison Heal to Hyper Cutter since i'm starting to see a lot of Landorus-T.

Well that's the team I hope you enjoyed it. Rate/Hate/Steal. Suggestions are very appreciated.

Hi, there

Nice team, passing the rate to put Latios Hasty> Naive, this is because Latios usually collects the best special moves, the physical ones, to give you an example of Hidden Power Ice Rock Polish Landorus, Thundurus or HIdden Power Ice-T, putting the Naive nature in dangerous cases, you can use a Dragon Dance knowing resist Hidden Power, while the Naive that puts you Okho the special defense is easy.
Also put Lum Berry> Life Orb, because with Lum Berry can use tranquillatamente Dragon Dance in front of Rotom-W, for example, that you could Thunder Wave or Will-o-Wisp, blocking Latios in both ways, as being forward physical, Will-o-Wisp decreases the attack and the Thunder Wave speed, also the Lum Berry allows also to be able to enter on a Spores of Breloom in extreme cases.

To suggest Reuniclus Psyshock> Psychic, because you can hit with Psyshock efficamente also Blissey and Chansey, without changing Pokemon, as well as Amoonguss that most of the time has investments in special defense.
Good luck, with your team!

Hey there.

This looks like a pretty cool team. From the looks of it, opposing Lati@s and Psychic-type Pokemon in general are very problematic. Heatran, especially such an offensive varient, is very poor check to Lati@s. Alakazam is also a problem Pokemon since it can just Focus Blast your Heatran, 2HKO Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, and outspeed your whole team. Not having a Choice Scarfed Pokemon is pretty annoying since it makes your weak to speed boosting Pokemon. Dragon Dance Salamence, for example, can 6-0 you after Heatran's Air Balloon is broken since it has Earthquake. Heatran is a poor check to Dragons due to its lackluster Physical bulk and reliance on Air Balloon. Ironically, your own Hydreigon can bypass Heatran with Superpower and make it cry. The same applies to Banded Dragonite with Superpower. Another sweeper of your own that you're weak to is Reuniclus who can sweep with either a Trick Room or a Calm Mind + Recover set. With this in mind, I recommend a Scarf Jirachi instead of Heatran. Jirachi is a fantastic check to Psychic-types in general and can revenge kill much of the boosted metagame with Iron Head. Dragons quickly succumb to a timely Ice Punch, and Jirachi just loves switching into the Psychic-type moves you're weak too since it can just 4x resist them. Additionally, Jirachi is a much better switch into Draco Meteors since it has slightly better Special Bulk and isn't weak to the more common Lati@s coverage move, Surf. You say that Heatran is your sun check, but in reality Dragons are a far better check to sun since they aren't U-turn --> Dugtrio prone and you have two of them. A set of Iron Head / U-turn / Ice Punch / Healing Wish @ Choice Scarf with EV's of 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe and a Jolly Nature should work fine. With this change, however, you lose a Stealth Rock. Additionally, the afforementioned Dragon-type threats are still annoying since Jirachi doesn't like switching into Fire Punches. You could put Stealth Rock on Gliscor, but I think Landorus-T is a far better option. It checks Dragon-type Pokemon with its great Physical bulk and Intimidate. Additionally, it can maintain momentum with U-turn and set up Stealth Rock on several Pokemon. The set I recommend is Stealth Rock / U-turn / Earthquake / Stone Edge @ Leftovers with EV's of 196 HP / 96 Atk / 216 Def and a Adamant Nature. The given EV's allow you to OHKO Dragonite after Stealth Rock damage and to have a Leftovers number coupled with good bulk.

Good luck.

Hi

Cool team. Asides from the threats that princess brii brought up, Mamoswine is a pretty difficult pokemon for you to handle. He hits 4/6 of your team super effectively, and reuniclus can't switch in very well on a LO boosted EQ. Rotom-W may resist both STAB's, but Mamoswines chosen coverage move will wear down rotom-w very quickly, making it a very hard threat for your team to handle. Terrakion can also prove problematic, especially a Choice Band or Sub + SD variant. Boosted Stone Edge's will dent all of your team heavily, and if its a Sub + SD variant, it can threaten your team with smart play, such as forcing heatran out for a sub oppurtunity.

Now, I don't think SD + Acrobatics Gliscor is the best fit here. It functions more as a stallbreaker, and you're team doesn't really have a need for one, especially when inbetween hydreigon, latios and Reuniclus coupled with rotom-w's status most stall teams will be wore down fairly effectively. Instead, I think a strong priority move and a way to handle most psychic types along with the afore mentioned threats would be really appreciated here. For all these reasons I strongly suggest Choice Band Scizor in this slot. Bullet Punch is a great move to pick off sweepers after they've taken damage setting up, and scizor forms a powerful Volt - Turn combo that can harass, scout and hurt the majority of the tier. Asides from this scizor adds quite a few nice resistances, making it an ideal pivot if rotom-w can't switch into the threat that is in play. Finally, Quick Attack gives a way to revenge volcarona (once heatran is down this guy is tough to beat), keldeo and gyarados after a bit of prior damage, and all of these threaten you with the right set. Reuniclus still checks the large majority of lucario, so you still can handle that.

The only other change I would consider is using Earthquake > Sunny Day on hydreigon. Earthquake lets you hit jirachi hard even in rain, while hitting heatran and the like without having to take the drop from superpower. This is mainly to drop the prediction factor that you have to sunny day as jirachi switches in while in rain but if you find sunny day really useful then keep it I guess. But inbetween 3 water resists, all very threatening I don't see how rain can threaten you too much.

GL with the team
Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant (+Atk -SpA)
Trait: Technician
EV's: 248HP/ 252Atk/ 8SpD
U-Turn / Bullet Punch / Superpower/ Quick Attack

@Mr.Green I'll make those changes! I guess I had Naive for Scizor but it still hits Latios hard with BP anyway. I tried Lum Berry but I found it doesn't hit hard enough after a boost though it was useful for avoiding status once Life orb is just more helpful in the long run. As for Reuniclus I tried Psyshock but so many times I wished I had Psychic for pokemon like Hippowdon and other physical walls like Gliscor. Thanks for the suggestions.

@Princess Bri You're right those can be a huge pain specially when played correctly I tried your Jirachi and it worked wonders and Landorus-T also really helped my team. Thanks for the rate!

@Asek Yeah Mamoswine can really be a huge threat but as I changed Heatran and Gliscor for Jirachi and Landorus it helped the problem somewhat. About Earthquake on Hydreigon I found Sunny Day helps more as my opponent will often let their Politoed die seeing as I have no weather pokemon. Thanks!
