SS OU Cynthia's Milotic and Ferrothorn

I wanted to make a team using an underrated mon and one of my favorites. That was Milotic, and to pair with Milotic, comes ferrothorn. They cover each other's back when it comes to typing and counters. Plus, with this core ,comes lots of freedom, it is a very solid backbone ranging from stall to bulky offense.

THE TEAM

Somewhat Bulky Offense Team

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 204 HP / 252 SpD / 48 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Haze

Milotic is able check many pokemon, such as Hydreigon and Dragapult. Although, she doesn't have toxic in the moveset, you can certainly replace Haze for it, if you are not finding efficient use for Haze; I've been going against a lot of setup sweepers, so it's been helpful. Recover allows for longevity alongside leftovers, while Scald and Ice Beam can cover/poke a lot of pokemon with decent damage such as Dragapult. Milotic can tank a Choice Specs Dragapult Draco Meteor on Switch-In and still use recover. I also call this mon Cynthia's Milotic, because Burn from Scald is so disgusting when it hits, and it's tanky as hell.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Knock Off

Ferrothorn is a PhysD tank, which helps Milotic, by taking the physical damage while the Milotics tanks the Special Damage. Ferrothorn helps cover the lack of tick damage Milotic has, with Leech Seed and Spikes. Power Whip helps check/counter Tapu Fini with a 2HKO, while also being a stab move. Knock off is knock off, allowing for some crucial items to be knocked off, such as Scarf or Leftovers. Before going to the next pokemon, if you feel like Ferrothorn doesn't really need more def, you can give it 190 Atk specifically for Landorus-T, as Ferrothorn is now able to 2HKO all of Lando-T's Sets BESIDES his defensive Set, making it a potential threat for the enemy.

Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

Next, I figured that, since hazards are gonna be a huge pain in the butt, I would want hazard removal. Thus, Tapu Koko is added into the team. With Electric Terrarin, and Thunderbolt, Tapu Koko produces a heavy-hitting STAB. Originally, I had Dazzling Gleam for a 2nd STAB move that would threaten dragon types, but after playing a bit, I realized Defog is just better for my team. Roost for Longevity, and U-turn is for pivoting out into another pokemon.

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Toxic

Excadril is my 2nd Hazard Removal. Excadrill having low speed in general was the main reason why I made Tapu Koko get Defog. Earthquake is for a STAB move alongside for checks on Steel and Rock Types. Also Heatran too, since I see it a lot. Iron Head is for Flinching, while Toxic is for the tanks or just to put a death timer on the enemy's mon. Honestly, with Tapu Koko replacing it's main job as well as it having low speed, I'm thinking of switching Excadrill for someone like Melmetal for an solid heavy hitter., or even Swampert for another Hazard Setter.

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Fire Fang

This guy is kind of my Physical Attacker. Garchomp boasts Fire Fang mainly because of Kartana. I also run Rocky Helmet because of Kartana, cause Garchomp can generally tank a hit from Kartana, then get the Fire Fang to kill it after Rocky Helmet and Rough Skin does its Job. Toxic is just for the tanks and people Garchomp can't kill in 2 hits. Earthquake is your STAB move, while Stone Edge is for Flying Types, as people tend to switch into their Flying Types if they think of Earthquake.

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Hydro Pump

Finally, we have my Specs Speed Killer. Dragapult is pretty much the hit-man of the team;If I can find a chance to switch Dragapult in, and OHKO a mon, I will do it. Shadow Ball and Draco Meteor are your traditional STAB moves, while Flamethrower is for the Steel Types, as well as KARTANA again.(I been traumatized by Kartana) Hydro Pump is for coverage on Water and Ground Types. I don't have U-Turn here because although it is useful, I think if the coverage is much better.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you can give me suggestions to help me improve my team.

The immediate problem I find with the team is how opposing Garchomps can instantly 6-0 you if it gets the scale shot. Milotic's ice beam does not one shot Garchomp from full. It only clocks at ninety eight percent max. If that's not bad enough, if opposing Garchomps run yache berry then it's really gonna rip this team to shreds

Now, here are my suggestions. If you are going to use :Milotic:, then take advantage of the one thing it can offer over any other pokemon in the game, the ability to deal with Weavile, Dragapult, Heatran, Hydreigon, Dragonite, Volcarona and to a certain extent, Garchomp, all at once. You can read more about how it does those things here otherwise there is no point in using it over Pex or Fini

For the next one, I would recommend replacing :Excadrill: with :Landorus-Therian:. Excadrill is really bad and even as a sand rusher, it's really bad because it just gets walled by metal birds. Landorus will provide your team with the much needed buffer against Garchomp while taking care of electrics for Milotic. I would suggest using a spdef spread since Milotic is near unbreakable when played right

Next is I would suggest replacing :Ferrothorn: with :Corviknight: to free up a slot on Koko. Given Milotic's absurd vulnerability to hazards, you want something to remove it and metal bird is the best on that job seeing it also counters the grass types in Rillaboom and Kartana. Ferrothorn is not that good of an answer seeing as their fighting type moves just straight up kill it and since Lando is neutral, those two just spams their grass type moves like crazy

Lastly, you already have speed control on Koko so there is no need for :Dragapult:. Now, Koko is more valuable for this team than Draga because you need a way to immediately pressure Tapu Fini. Instead, on this slot I would recommend using a powerful wall breaker as a source of immediate firepower. I would recommend using :Blacephalon: on this slot as your team lacks a way to pressure Ferrothorn which could become an issue. Blace is also a pokemon that loves all the switch moves this team will have so that it can get a free switch and fire off powerful attacks

For the minor changes, I will start with dazzling gleam > defog on :Tapu Koko:. A Koko without gleam is completely missing the point. You just end up being nothing more than Garchomp bait and despite your type advantage and higher speed than Weavile, you are going to lose it. If triple axel doesn't kill you then the ice shard will and neither of your moves will even touch Garchomp. As I said earlier, your team is horribly vulnerable to Garchomp so any safety against it is appreciated

Then just go with the standard wall breaker / sweeper set on :Garchomp: but with yache berry. Running a toxic rocky helmet on Garchomp is not exactly bad but you won't get anywhere with it. It's yache berry set will allow you to fight all of your checks that aren't Mandibuzz or Togekiss and neither of those two are common

Here are the changes to the team. Also, take the Landorus ev with a grain of salt. I don't know what the ev spread of spdef Lando is so I just put that off the top of my head. Also, if hail is proving to be too much of a problem, then you can replace Landorus with Hippowdon using this set

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Abiltiy: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

It still does the same things Lando does but ensures that hail doesn't get too far. Sand is a very good weather since you can use it without having to abuse it and even something as maintaining weather control could be crucial

This team is very passive and I don’t see it making much progress vs. most teams. Passive only works with like heavy stall these days and even those builds bring like CM Clef of something to push forward.

I love Milotic as a mon but really question it’s utility as a defensive Pokémon in this tier when Pex exists. One idea I had some success with was using Milo as an offensive tank with its other ability, Competitive. It is a surprisingly decent anti-Defog mon. Perhaps re-structure the team idea around that.
