The Dromaeosaurid/cycle inspired pokemon cyclizar boasts a

-Typing

dragon.jpg very unique type combination, only used by drampa other than the lizard. This typing brings out two qualities for it on the table, first it has access to normal type's extensive movepool, which in the case of cyclizar is humongous and its part dragon typing gives it common resists like fire, water, grass and electric.

With a look at his base stats the mon seems like a very fast mixed attacker who with his plethora of coverage moves can be a good offensive mon, however when you take a closer look at his whole kit you find the most optimal role for the mon is a fast support one.

Gameplay

A cyclizar in a game will most likely either be spinning hazards away, desrupting opponents with taunt, surpising them with a coverage move in your slot, knocking off opposing items OR​
for the most part give you free switches into dangerous partners which in itself can be game changing in singles but on some occasions *like into an immunity* might as well give you free turns. *for example a frail but powerful mon like flutter man is given a free switch into the feild everytime by shedtail without any pokemon getting damaged [unlike the case of teleport or uturn] which also abuses the fighting weakness of cyclizar to get a free turn, a few such shedtails can pretty much win a game*
Cyclizar also has good freedom in its moveset ranging from heavy duty boots for uniterrupted regenerator healing or agauv berry for easier shed tails or even choice scarf for its surprise factor and ability to always use shed tail first.​
Though cyclizar can make use of terrastilization it can still do its job really well without it. Terra into defesive types like steel or into dragon for boosted attacks can be considered as options *its a waste using it on cyclizar in the current metagame*
Talking about metagame cyclizar's playstyle is more suited for offensive teams and rather more specifically for hyper offensive teams as these teams appreciate free switches and turns then a team that tends to play more defensively.​

This is the set i am currently using and have had decent success with, mainly its plays with leading cyclizar and setting up shedtail for a free switch and gaining momentum early or using taunt to stop opposing lead mons from setting up hazards and then using shed tail :p

Glad to see Taunt on the sample set, I've been using it and I didnt know if more people were or not. Cyclizar is a great user, as it already feasts off of passive pokemon, and this just makes them that much more even passive.

As for partners, I mean, every setup sweeper in the entire game, but Palafin, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite stand out a lot. Palafin is just unbelievably broken anyway, and a free sub and switch allows it to feast. Roaring Moon is extremely deadly after a Dragon Dance, and especially on lower ladder, the amount of free turns you can buy with Cyclizar is hilarious. Dragonite, however, is why I would say is the best, and that's thanks to Multiscale boosting the health of the sub as well. Plus Dragon Dance, and you have an extremely good stall destroyer on your hands. Of course, you could aask, what stall? And yeah, Cyclizar is kinda ass if it isn't able to get free turns. Extremely ass, even. Garbage, I dare say. At least it's fast. In this early, extremely offensive meta, I think it's actually underperforming a bit. If things swing defensive, this suddenly becomes the best support mon in the tier, something it already almost is.

People hate Shed Tail, and with good reason, so use this mon while it's still good!

20 SpA Cyclizar Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Dragapult: 318-374 (100.3 - 117.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bonus points for also OHKOing opposing Cyclizar with that attack!

You can try investing Attack EVs to hit certain 2HKO thresholds on Ghosts with Knock Off, but max. Attack Jolly Cyclizar fails to OHKO Zoroark-Hisui, for crying out loud.

Cyclizar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor

- Rapid Spin
- Shed Tail

Tera type obviously can be subject to change and I never end up using it anyway - maybe Ghost or Steel are good too, depends on what your team is weak to.
Max speed allows for it to OHKO other Cyclizar with Draco Meteor, alongside being a strong STAB move for revenge killing any slower opponent. This works even better nowadays due to so many players dropping their Cyclizar speeds so that they get their Shed Tail second. Overheat is both useful coverage for any Steel (Corviknight, Kingambit, Scizor especially) or for shutting down Gholdengo (252 SpA Cyclizar Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Gholdengo: 230-272 (73 - 86.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO). The Gholdengo check aspect is especially useful because you can switch into a Shadow Ball or Trick thanks to its Normal typing, and Cyclizar is very good with a Choice Scarf anyway.
This works best from my experience on a balance team when you have heavy entry hazards yourself, where that offensive threat which took out one of your Pokemon will either be revenge killed by a Cyclizar that then Shed Tails out afterward, or leave on too low of HP to come back in again regardless.

Rapid Spin and Shed Tail are self explanatory.

Glad to see the moto-drago being seen as more than just a Shed Tail abuser and actually giving it some offensive use. Having access to Draco Meteor and Overheat is a boon since you will be swapping out a lot anyways, and Dragon/Fire is near perfect coverage. It lacks the crazy power needed for one hit KOs, but with speed like that it serves better as a late game cleaner anyways.
 
Cyclizar is a godsend for set up sweepers with Shed Tail. With regenerator can set up a substitute multiple times throughout the match. Has a wide movepool and can get rid of entry hazards. One of the cornerstones of hyper offensive/screens
 
This Pokemon is really fun, a lot more fun than I thought initially. I thought it'd just be used as a Shed Tail bot, and while it is good at doing that, its actually got a lot of additional utility outside of Shed Tail. In this meta where Hazards are almost as OP as Dual Screens, its able to keep them off decently well with its fast Rapid Spin + Knock Off to dissuade Golden Joe + other ghost. Shed Tail also is good at dissuading Ghost too since it gives a free switch + sub into your own OP setup mon like DD Dragapult, Chi-Yu, Great Tuskothy, etc. The Grimmsnarl + Cyclizar core is also really really strong since Grimm can setup EZ screens and Debuff the opponents trash w/ a Fast Parting Shot, letting Cyclizar pass a free Shed Tail to one of the many OP setup sweepers in the tier.

Only issue w/ the Cyclizar + Grimmsnarl core is that you are dedicating two slots to two good but somewhat flawed Pokemon (Grimm has no longevity, very passive, Cyclizar is very frail), so you'll be scrapping the remaining slots not just to your sweepers, but also hazard setters + some other utility mons.
 
Knock Off + Rapid Spin + U-turn + Shed Tail with heavy-duty boots is my favorite set. Makes Cyclizar the core piece of any decent volt-turn team. You don't have to shed tail every time Cyclizar comes in. Just pivoting in and occasionally knocking off items is super helpful and puts you in a strong position.

Not a huge fan of taunt on Cyclizar. You kind of want them to use a non-attacking move so that you can pass a substitute to a setup sweeper. A notable exception would be a mon with hazards and whirlwind/roar, such as Ting-Lu, but you can just knock off and pivot into your hazard removal. Regenerator + heavy-duty boots means you're going to win the long game against those kind of mons as long as you can keep pivoting.

Dragonite is far and away the best shed tail recipient. Multiscale + free substitute + extreme speed = GG

While Cyclizar may not be the most powerful pokemon, it can still hit fairly hard. Most opponents aren't expecting this set and with its great speed it can be dangerous late game. This set abuses the shit out of regenerator, so entry hazard removal is important to maximize this sets potential. It has perfect coverage and can surprise a lot of things. Shed Tail is great move for sweepers and is also good to choose for the walls Cyclizar has trouble breaking through.

Assuming this set only ever sees the light of day on HO behind screens, have you considered running Adamant for more power? It's next to impossible to revenge kill that thing outside of the aforementioned Rain Barraskewda, so might as well try and propell that 95 Atk stat to it's upmost limit. Also I think that if you run Tera Blast Tera Ground is most likely you're best bet.
