Draft Cyclizar (Rewrite)

[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 5 onwards

**Price Range**: 7-8 points

**Overview**: Even with Shed Tail being banned, Cyclizar provides quite a lot of utility to a draft at a fairly mid to low price. Being very unique as a fast Dragon-type with access to Rapid Spin, it offers a lot of role compression to teams that need it. However, its lackluster offensive stats combined with its frailty, more often than not, relegate it to a support and utility role. But with a blistering Speed tier, it is able to perform that role effectively and can revenge kill many Pokemon in a pinch.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Utility Pivot**: Cyclizar makes use of its high Speed and its great utility toolset, which includes moves like Rapid Spin, U-turn, and Knock Off, to disrupt opposing teams while possessing longevity thanks to Regenerator.

**Revenge Killer**: Even with its mediocre offensive stats, Cyclizar is able to function as an effective revenge killer thanks to its blistering Speed tier and its high-powered STAB moves in Double-Edge and Draco Meteor, especially when combined with Life Orb or other damage-boosting items.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Draco Meteor, Double-Edge, Outrage, Hyper Voice, Body Slam, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Claw, Scale Shot

**Setup Moves**: Shift Gear

**Utility Moves**: Rapid Spin, Knock Off, Taunt, U-turn, Dragon Tail

**Coverage**: Overheat, Power Whip, Supercell Slam, Aqua Tail, Thunderbolt, Wild Charge, Ice Spinner, Iron Head, Temper Flare, Acrobatics

Niche Moves
========
**Facade**: Facade can be used over other Normal-type moves, allowing Cyclizar to fear status infliction from the likes of Pecharunt, Flame Body Moltres, and Glimmora a little less.

Common Items
========
**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Cyclizar often uses Heavy-Duty Boots to avoid taking damage from entry hazards and make it a more consistent pivot and spinner.

**Assault Vest**: Assault Vest allows Cyclizar to make use of its wide movepool and safely switch into many special attackers.

**Life Orb**: Life Orb can be utilized on power-focused sets, with Regenerator mitigating the recoil damage taken.

Niche Items
========
**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet can be used to punish weaker resisted contact moves like Palafin's Jet Punch.

**Resistance Berries**: Yache Berry and Chople Berry can be used to weaken expected coverage or priority moves in a pinch, allowing Cyclizar to revenge kill or phaze out threats such as Greninja and unboosted Iron Valiant.

**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf Cyclizar can use its phenomenal Speed tier to revenge kill slower Dragon-types like Garchomp at +1 Speed and Raging Bolt with Draco Meteor.

**Choice Band / Choice Specs**: Choice Specs or Choice Band can be used to secure KOs that Life Orb cannot achieve.

**Eject Pack**: Cyclizar can make use of an Eject Pack to pivot and generate momentum after a strong Draco Meteor or Overheat.

Tera
========
Cyclizar should almost never be considered as a Tera Captain, as a lot of its value comes from its natural resistances and Ghost immunity. It should be focused on supporting more powerful threats with entry hazard removal, chip damage, pivoting, and revenge killing. If it is made a Tera Captain, it can make situational use of defensive Tera types like Fairy, Steel, and Ghost to resist or become immune to incoming super effective attacks. These Tera types can help it more consistently pivot into certain Pokemon that would otherwise threaten it. It can also use STAB Tera types to enhance its damage output and revenge killing capabilities.

Draft Strategy
========
Cyclizar is never a Pokemon to be built around, but thanks to its longevity and vast utility and support options, it can fit seamlessly on almost any type of draft to support and complement earlier picks. Cyclizar is especially great on bulkier drafts that appreciate its ability to remove entry hazards.

**Entry Hazards**: Cyclizar is a great pick for drafts centered around stacking entry hazards as a fast rapid spinner with longevity. It synergizes exceptionally well with common Pokemon found on those drafts like Gholdengo and Hisuian Samurott.

**Wallbreakers**: Cyclizar's power can be very lackluster, so it is important to pair it with strong wallbreakers. Pokemon like Chi-Yu and Urshifu-S love the free points of entry Cyclizar often provides with U-turn and they deal with the walls it struggles with. Chi-Yu, being a Fire-type, also enjoys Cyclizar's entry hazard removal.

**Regenerator Pokemon**: Cyclizar has phenomenal defensive synergy with both Slowking formes and Tornadus-T. It can be paired with these Pokemon to form a sturdy Regenerator core.

**Speed Control**: Although Cyclizar has a great Speed tier, it is not as threatening as other Pokemon around its Speed tier. Strong Choice Scarf options like Darkrai and Greninja can work very well alongside it.

Checks and Counters
========
**Powerful Physical Attackers**: Although Cyclizar can be a solid pivot into special attackers with an Assault Vest, its abysmal Defense leaves it threatened by strong physical attackers like Weavile and Urshifu-S.

**Bulky Foes**: Cyclizar can really struggle to break through many bulky foes due to its underwhelming offensive stats.

"Status absorber" should typically be reserved for talking about Pokemon that aren't negatively affected whatsoever by status.

**Choice Items**: Choice Scarf Cyclizar can use its phenomenal speed tier to revenge kill slower Dragon-types like Garchomp and Baxcalibur Raging Bolt at +1 Speed with Draco Meteor. A Choice Specs or Choice Band can be used to secure KOs that Life Orb cannot achieve. These three items, of course, come with the downside of Cyclizar being Choice-locked. **Choice Scarf Users**: Cyclizar is susceptible to strong Choice Scarf users, like Iron Valiant and Urshifu, so it is important for it to have defensive partners to fall back on.

**Setup Pokemon**: Cyclizar can become setup fodder because of its relative weakness and lack of status. Dragon Tail and Unaware partners can be good to have to mitigate this flaw. Cyclizar can Taunt and Dragon Tail itself.

**Eject Pack**: Cyclizar can make use of an Eject Pack to pivot and generate momentum after a strong Draco Meteor or Overheat.

Tera
========
Cyclizar should almost never be considered as a Tera Captain, (AC) as a lot of its value comes from its natural resistances and Ghost immunity.

========
Cyclizar is never a Pokemon to be built around, (AC) but thanks to its longevity and vast utility and support options, (AC) it can fit seamlessly on almost any type of draft to support and compliment complement earlier picks. Cyclizar is especially great on bulkier drafts that appreciate its ability to remove entry hazards.

**Entry Hazards**: Cyclizar is a great pick for drafts centered around stacking entry hazards as a fast rapid spinner with longevity. It synergizes exceptionally well with common Pokemon found on those drafts like Gholdengo and Samurott-H Hisuian Samurott.

**Wallbreakers**: Cyclizar's power can be very lackluster, (AC) so it is important to pair it with strong wallbreakers. Pokemon like Chi-Yu and Urshifu-S love the free points of entry Cyclizar often provides with U-turn and they deal with the walls it struggles with. Chi-Yu, being a Fire-type, also enjoys Cyclizar's entry hazard removal.

**Regenerator Pokemon**: Cyclizar has phenomenal defensive synergy with both Slowking forms formes and Tornadus-T.

========
**Powerful Physical Attackers**: Although Cyclizar can be a solid pivot into special attackers with an Assault Vest, its abysmal physical defense Defense leaves it threatened by strong physical attackers like Weavile and Urshifu Urshifu-S. This is why it is important for it to have defensive partners to fall back on (RP)

**Bulky Foes**: Cyclizar can really struggle to break through many bulky foes due to its underwhelming offensive stats.
