SV OU Copycat Blissey Stall

knexhawk

Banned deucer.
This team was frankly born as a meme but I ended up having far more success with this meme option that I believe it is a genuine option in this metagame.
I couldn't name a ladder peak since I mostly just ignore the rating but its been past 1950 (during OLT) and probably 2000 (sorry I can't prove that, I don't focus on my ladder rating enough to have screenshotted it). I also achieved reqs for the kingambit suspect at 35-4 and initially laddered for the 3rd cycle of OLT but got incredibly burnt out after a few days and gave up.

Anyways, the team.
All 6 members of the team have heavy-duty boots due to the fact this team has no removal and broken :gholdengo: exists.

:Alomomola:
Alomomola @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Wish
- Protect
- Whirlpool
- Chilling Water
We have all seen what this fish can do for stall, and it's very standard here. :Alomomola:'s primary job is to check physical attackers such as :Landorus-Therian:, :Cinderace:, :Azumarill:, :Baxcalibur:, and most other physical attackers in the tier. 0IVs in speed are for underspeeding :Corviknight: and tying :Pelipper: u-turn's and being able to whirlpool the switchin. Tera ghost was chosen to be able to beat :Ursaluna:, as this team would lose instantly to it without it. Tera ghost also allows :alomomola: to switch out of :heatran: magma storm. Blocking rapid spin from :great-tusk: and :torkoal: are beneficial for maintaining hazard pressure and keeping them trapped by whirlpool. It does not need tera flying to act as a knock off absorber with :gastrodon-East: on the team. Wish passing to the rest of the team with the massive 260 hp wishes will always be beneficial as well.

:Dondozo:
Dondozo (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Waterfall
- Curse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Required on basically all stall for :kingambit:, swords dance :baxcalibur:, :sneasler:, along with all sorts of various physical setup threats. Tera fairy was chosen for banded or life orb :Baxcalibur:, banded :dragonite:, and banded :dragapult:. Due to being tera fairy, :kingambit: can pose it some trouble. This is why curse/waterfall is chosen over avalanche/body press. :moltres: is the team's primary :kingambit: check for this reason. Waterfall is chosen over liquidation for the 8 extra pp and flinch chance on slower targets such as :slowking-galar:. Liquidation's defense drop is ignored by unaware anyways.

:Clodsire:
Clodsire @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 12 Spe
- Spikes
- Recover
- Amnesia
- Toxic
Another stall staple, :Clodsire: exists to sit on special setup sweepers such as nasty plot :gholdengo:, :iron-moth:, and stored power sweepers such as :Cresselia: with Amnesia. It also checks strong special attackers such as :Enamorus:, :Zapdos:, and many sets of special-based :Iron-valiant:. 52 defense EVs allow :clodsire: to take a fallen 5 kowtow from blackglasses :kingambit:, although it is relatively arbitrary. Some players prefer more or less defense. Being able to make progress with spikes is very beneficial as well. 12 IVs in speed are chosen to underspeed :Slowking-galar:, so you can toxic the switchin after a chilly reception. Tera steel was chosen to be able to wall stored power sweepers, be able to respond to psyshock :iron-valiant:, psyshock :gholdengo:, and absorb a future sight in a pinch. Poison jab over toxic is always an option as well, however I prefer the consistancy.

:moltres:
Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Will-O-Wisp
- U-turn
- Flamethrower
This is the standard physical defense set on the smogdex, it does exactly what it describes there. It checks various physical attackers such as :Meowscarada:, unboosted :kingambit:, :scizor:, :brute-bonnet:, :zamazenta:, along with fishing for various u-turn burns with flame body. 12 speed EVs outrun jolly :kingambit:. Tera fighting is to handle :kingambit: if it becomes a problem (such as lum berry) and banded :Roaring-moon:, and also tera out of the 4x stealth rock weakness in a scenario where boots get knocked off. Usuaully, :moltres: prefers staying its default fire/flying typing, however. :moltres: was chosen over :talonflame: due to :gastrodon-east: not requiring hazard removal, and its superior bulk and power helps it check those mentioned above along with u-turn to escape and PP stall :heatran:, and handle mixed :dragapult:. Moltres also walls the rare superpower :Enamorus: and :breloom:, which can cause this team trouble.

:Gastrodon-East:
Gastrodon-East @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sticky Hold
Tera Type: Flying / Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Counter
- Clear Smog
- Stealth Rock
An odd set, :Gastrodon-east:'s job on this team is the dedicated knock off absorber. It has sticky hold to deny item removal. This is why it has max physical defense. It can reliably eat knock off from :Great-Tusk:, SD or Mixed :Iron-Valiant:, :Samurott-Hisui:, :Meowscarada: (Tera required), and many other various knock offs. It also blocks trick from Scarf :Gholdengo: and switcheroo from :Sneasler:. The primary job of :Gastrodon-east: is to do this, and setting stealth rocks is just a bonus. Counter lets you 1v1 most physical attackers, but primarily swords dance :Iron-Valiant: and :Samurott-Hisui:. Clear smog exists to stop :Iron-Valiant: from just setting up in your face, and also 2hkos if it close combats you first. It also denies various other setup, such as dragon dance :Dragonite:, bulk up :Great-Tusk:, curse :Garganacl:, and various other targets. Tera flying was chosen for a better matchup into offensive :Great-Tusk:, :Meowscarada:, and also to beat an out-of-control :Iron-Valiant:. Tera fairy also works, for similar reasons, just at the cost of a ground neutrality and a poison weakness.

:blissey:

Blissey @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Water / Fairy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 30 Spe
- Protect
- Soft-Boiled
- Copycat
- Seismic Toss
The star of the show. :Blissey: maintains its ability to do standard :Blissey: things, such as walling almost every special attacker in the game. The EVs are chosen to be able to handle threats such as +6 Make it Rain from :gholdengo:, but also not take ludicrous damage from weak physical moves, such as specs :dragapult: u-turns. The 30 IVs in speed are for being able to underspeed opposing :blissey: and always being able to copycat the predicted move (which is incredibly rare). Protect allows :blissey: to blank future sights. Tera water can be used to sit on sun choice specs tera water :walking-wake: and tera fire specs eruption :typhlosion-hisui: much easier, while tera fairy gives you a very easy matchup into mixed sub willo hex darts :dragapult:.

Copycat is the real strange choice. The main other options are stealth rocks which :gastrodon-east: covers, and heal bell which has limited utility. Copycat uses the last move used in the battle, whether the move was used by the user or the opponent, with only a few exceptions (trick/switcheroo, negative priority moves such as whirlwind, and hyperspace fury). :Blissey: gets so many free turns where it can't really do much except spam seismic toss, which it can use to go fishing with copycat. Copycat has 5 primary uses, initially it allows blissey to 1v1 curse :garganacl:, nasty plot :gholdengo: (although you usually don't want to), infestation :toxapex:. Copycat also allows the stealing of recovery moves from pokemon such as :Zapdos:, :moltres:, :clodsire:, :gholdengo:, :toxapex:, itself, and sometimes more. This is very useful for longer games where :blissey: is suffering from the recent deduction of softboiled PP. Strong predictions can give :blissey: effectively infinite HP, denying the opponent counterplay of PP stalling its healing moves. Copycat is very useful for stealing various utility moves as well, such as hazards from :ting-lu:, :clodsire:, :sandy-shocks:, and :garganacl:, along with status or trapping moves from its teammates such as :alomomola: and :clodsire: if doubled out. One more reason for using copycat is how it has 32 pp and usually allows you to steal attacking moves. Copycat can also be useful for stealing momentum moves, such as u-turn or volt switch from :zapdos:, :moltres:, or :rotom-wash:. In longer games, having another 32 pp spammable move that can (sometimes) do damage can really give you the advantage. In desperate scenarios, :blissey: can often copycat a move such as knock off or rapid spin from a :great-tusk: as well, although risking this is not advised. It can also be very funny (the most important reason).

Bad matchups:
:hoopa-unbound: It's stall, so this is expected. Sometimes :gastrodon-east: can cheese a counter kill.
:Meowscarada: Very scary with hazards up. :gastrodon-east: is often required to tera and banded thunderpunch hurts. :moltres: is usually used to try and burn it.
:clodsire: Not really bad, just annoying. Water absorb :clodsire: blanks :alomomola:, :dondozo:, and :clodsire:, which can make this thing live way longer than it realistically should.
:torkoal: :walking-wake: Sun can be scary if you do not have tera water :blissey: specs tera water hydro steam can almost 2hko :blissey: and can PP stall it quickly.
:dragapult: Mixed pult can often be scary if you do not have tera fairy :blissey:.
:cyclizar: or :wo-chien: You almost instantly lose to a stall team that has knock off. :gastrodon-east: cannot last forever due to a finite amount of recovery.
:gholdengo: with psyshock often requires :clodsire: to tera, and specs is particularly scary. It can be hid until the perfect moment a lot of the time as well, which can be problematic.
:landorus-therian: Sub/sd earthquake smack down/stone edge grass knot with tera ground and leftovers can mess this team up. Just need to switch around correctly and pp stall earthquake.
:volcanion: Taunt fire spin can be scary, and tera ghost instantly wins (although I have only seen this once).
:tornadus-therian: Taunt nasty plot is threatening, however relying on hurricane or bleakwind storm is unreliable.

This team also has good matchups, specifically it is very strong into most standard hazard stacks. Teams that rely on knock off from :great-tusk: or :iron-valiant: along with 3 spikes +:gholdengo: will find themselves unable to make progress vs a well-played :Gastrodon-east:.
Rain is another easy matchup with :basculegion: and :greninja: unable to make progress against :alomomola: and :blissey:, respectively.
Brainless sack-5 go :kingambit: teams are also bad into this team unless they can force serious chip/remove :moltres: and :dondozo:.
Future sight :slowking-galar: is owned by :blissey: with protect. All they can do is drain their own pp.
:glimmora: or :samurott-hisui: hyper offensive hazard stack is often just 5v6 as the hazard lead is a mostly useless pokemon.

Spent way too long typing this. Hope its readable and yall enjoy it. Thanks to the stall empire big stall forever.

How to beat Taunt Protect Tera grass Heatran? I go into Moltres and U-turn to get out of the trapping, but it gets too chipped down and taunt prevents me from recovering. Idk if this is right, but I swapped Flamethrower for Brave Bird but then recoil and stuff.

Using flying stab is an alright option as well, id choose hurricane or air slash personally, but you just spam roost until it taunts you and you uturn out. Usually youre free to go alomomola, and you only need to tera ghost if they hit magma storm on the switch, otherwise you can keep pivoting. They only have 8 magmas.
