Hello community. Trying to get a solid team together for this gen with some of my favorite Pokemon and some of the newcomers to the series. This team really centers around Coverage. Being able to handle anything and keep the momentum in our favor. Any opinions on things I should change or add would be highly appreciated.
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rain Dance
- Rest
- Scald
- Ice Beam
One of my personal favorites. Vaporeon is able to take hits being so bulky and sweep with Scald. Scald itself not only providing 30% chance to burn + being boosted by Rain Dance, can 2HKO Darmanitan I run Hydration with Rain Dance + Rest to not only avoid being worn down by Poison or any Status Effects but being able to Rest my entire HP up while having Leftovers to heal me as well keeps Vaporeon in the game. Ice Beam for Dragapult/Hydreigon switch-ins.
Centiskorch @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Def / 172 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Fire Lash
- Power Whip
- Will-O-Wisp
- Leech Life
One of my personal favorites. My fire bulky physical sweeper with a lot of options. Keeping Flash Fire allows me to switch out Ferrothorn into Centiskorch for a free Fire Flash boost. This puts Fire Lash up to crazy good damage and providing Def decrease for me to Leech Life for good HP back. Will-O-Wisp good for those stronger physical sweepers that may try to switch in unchecked. Power Whip for coverage on Water, Rock, and Ground-type Pokemon. Leech Life for generating health back after a Fire Lash or two to decrease defense. I have to use Heavy-Duty boots. Spikes take off way too much health to not run it.
Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Sludge Bomb
Another favorite but find difficulty with him. I mainly use Gengar as a fast special sweeper but it seems when I need him most, he is outsped by the person he is fighting lol. His coverage is awesome. Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb being two amazing STAB moves. Thunderbolt is an amazing option for Gyarados and Corviknight. Psychic is the one move I find myself not using that much but keep it for safe measures. I was running Nasty Plot but found Gengar not really being able to survive a hit for me to set it up. Running Black Sludge as I have no other item for him.
Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Claw
- Swords Dance
Mimikyu! My fast physical sweeper and thanks to Disguise, I can Sword Dance and go at it. He is mainly a check for Dragapult's running Choice Scarf, Hydreigon, Dracovish, and other Dragons. Play Rough into Shadow Sneak is traditionally good with Shadow Claw being a good move for the Crit whenever possible. Life Orb for the damage boost.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
A Pokemon that hardly needs an introduction. Ferrothorn has proven to be an amazing defensive Pokemon in the team. Being able to one-shot Togekiss, Mimikyu (not exactly 1 shot), and a few others with no problem thanks to Gyro-Ball. Stealth Rocks making the whole battle go in my favor. Power WHip a strong grass STAB move. Leech Seed works extremely well with Ferrothorns defense. Having someone switch in and take damage from Stealth Rocks, hit Ferrothorn and take the damage from both Iron Barbs AND Rocky Helmet + Leech seed.
Dracozolt @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Fang
I call Dracozolt The Cleanup Man. Bolt Beak is devastating. Being boosted with Hustle, STAB boost, and first attack boost makes it hard not to OHKO some Pokemon. Corviknight, Toxapex, and Dracovish are checked with this Mon. The biggest issue is the Choice Scarf. It is easy to bait a Bolt Beak and to switch out to a Rock-type leaving him stuck. That's the main reason I use Dynamax on Dracozolt. It breaks the Choice Scarf and allows me to use all the moves from Outage, Fire Fang, Earthquake and Bolt Beak to the respective types. This is also why I use Dracozolt as my lost Mon when we are both worn out and It's time to bring the match to a close. Hustle is a fantastic ability but the Acc hit leaves less to be desired. Even with that, I feel his move coverage is enough to overlook that.
Thanks again for checking this out any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!.
