Cloyster @ King's Rock
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Ice Shard

Cloyster is one of the most menacing OLT trends and the root of all the controversy surrounding King's Rock, which has led to the item being banned in other tiers. Skill Link allows Cloyster to take full advantage of King's Rock, giving its multi-hit moves a 41% flinch chance and letting it potentially bypass its checks. Rock Blast hits Pokemon like Toxapex and Scizor neutrally, letting Cloyster break through them with ease. Ice Shard comes in handy to revenge kill Pokemon like Dragapult and Tornadus-T while also pressuring Rillaboom after a Shell Smash boost, which Cloyster can even KO with enough chip damage. Cloyster really appreciates the presence of dual screen setters like Alolan Ninetales and Tapu Koko, as they give it an easier time setting up, especially against physically offensive Pokemon that Cloyster can take advantage of due to its large Defense. It also appreciates other hyper offense staples like Bisharp, Hawlucha, and Weavile, which can pave the path for a sweep by weakening checks like Melmetal and Buzzwole.

Heres a replay from the first OLT cycle showcasing this powerhouse:

Cloyster is one of the most menacing OLT trends and is the root of all the controversy around King's Rock, which lead to the item being banned in some metagames. (say 'already in other tiers')Its ability Skill Link (and great stab + coverage) is what makes it able to abuse King's Rock well, giving it a 41% chance to flinch its opponent everytime it uses one of its multi-hit moves, which also gives it the ability to bypass its checks, if it gets lucky that is. Rock Blast is its coverage of choice since it lets it hit the likes (pokemon such as) of Toxapex and Scizor neutrally letting it break them easier (with more ease). Ice Shard also comes in handy while revenge killing things (pokemon) like Dragapult or Tornadus-T, while also pressuring Rillaboom (after a boost with Shell Smash) before the boost and with Grassy T up Rillaboom still is faster than Cloyster and therefore its prio-move G-Glide goes first which can even end up getting KO'd with enough chip. Cloyster really appreciates the presence of (dual) screen setters like Alolan Ninetales and Tapu Koko since that gives it an easier time setting up against foes (mention an example or two against whom cloyster can successfully setup behind screens). It also appreciates other Hyper Offense staples like Bisharp and Weavile, which can pave the path for Cloyster by weakening its checks. (I feel like mentioning one more partrner which can deal with corv / skarm or overwhelm it alongside cloy can be great here, something like fire fang garchomp, bu zera, or even volcarona can help here for cloy)

:blobwizard: 1/1 good job ABHI! :cloyster:
