Despite its adorable appearance, Clefable is a defensive staple in BDSP OU and can be difficult to break through. Its incredible Fairy-typing allows it to switch into the STAB moves of many common foes, such as Weavile, Garchomp, and Dragonite. Unaware is the ability of choice, turning Clefable into a check to an abundance of setup sweepers, such as Nasty Plot Rotom-W and Calm Mind Latias. One of its main flaws is its lack of reliable recovery, forcing it to run Wish and Protect, but this does come with the benefit of scouting Choice item Pokemon and squeezing out more Leftovers recovery. Moonblast is the STAB move of choice, hitting common Pokemon such as Weavile and Dragon-types super effectively while potentially threatening others with a Special Attack drop. For the last slot, a choice has to be made between Flamethrower, which hits common Steel-types like Scizor and Magnezone that would otherwise check it, or Calm Mind, which turns Clefable into a powerful late-game sweeper and allows to it beat opposing setup sweepers, as foes cannot set up alongside it.

you can check "dragon types" with "staples", since Clefable does so much more than just absorbing Dragon moves

Unaware is used over Magic Guard in order to allow Clefable to check the many set-up sweepers, such as Nasty Plot Rotom-W and Calm Mind Latias.
