SS OU Choice Specs Pelipper

Pelistorm (Pelipper) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hurricane
- Surf
- Weather Ball
- U-turn

So I figured I would build around choice specs pelipper, as the damage output in the rain is usually good enough to where common walls in the tier, such as clefable, mandibuzz, and corviknight can be 2HKOd, whilst other slower pokemon may not suspect specs. Hurricane is great for dealing with grass types such as tangrowth, although pelipper can struggle against setup rillaboom, and banded grassy glide does hurt. Surf gives pelipper a STAB water option in the sand, and is capable of OHKOing hippowdon, and 2HKOing tyranitar. Weather ball is a slightly stronger option which does not come with accuracy loss, and is still capable of 2HKOing most walls which don't resist it. U-turn can be used to bring in a complementary wallbreaker against pokemon that either outspeed and KO pelipper or tank its hits, although there aren't many who can switch in without taking massive damage. 224 speed EVs are used to outspeed max speed modest aegislash, which weather ball has a decent chance to KO from full, as well as magnezone which is otherwise an incredible check to defensive damp rock pelipper.

Slippy (Goodra) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Sludge Bomb
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower

Goodra acts as a special sponge and can somewhat check rillaboom with sap sipper. Goodra also helps to take care of rotom heat and zeraora to a degree, which both take massive damage from draco meteor. The EV spread is used to maximise goodra's damage output whilst also making it as specially bulky as possible. With this investment, goodra has a greater than 90% chance to tank a draco meteor from modest specs kyurem and KO in return with draco. Sludge bomb helps out with fairy types such as clefable, flamethrower provides needed coverage and helps with ferrothorn, whereas thunderbolt gives extra general coverage.

You (Conkeldurr) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Facade

Conk is the heavy physical hitter of the team, and can break through defensive threats which pelipper can struggle to deal with, including spdef toxapex and spdef ferrothorn. For example, pelipper's specs hurricane will 2HKO defensive variants, and in return, conkeldurrs facade can 2HKO specially defensive variants of toxapex, and OHKO every type of ferrothorn with a guts boost. Mach punch gives priority to the team, and can OHKO lycanroc dusk and deal heavy damage to excadrill, kyurem, and hydreigon. Knock off is a great overall move which removes items upon switch in, and can be used to catch ghost types.

Garpede (Scolipede) @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Poison Jab
- Megahorn
- Earthquake

Scolipede is on here as the primary setup sweeper, relying on pelipper to take out the pokemon which otherwise pose problems for it, such as corviknight and skarmory. Scolipede also synergises quite nicely with the final member of the team, who can setup screens and inflict status to give opportunities for setup. Swords dance with an adamant nature boosts scolipede's attack to levels which can OHKO many common threats whilst outspeeding them given the opportunity. It also helps that scolipede's typing allows it to quad resist grassy glide and mach punch, common priority in the tier. Poison jab allows scolipede to hit fairy types whereas megahorn is an incredibly strong option, capable of OHKOing blissey and dealing tremendous damage to mandibuzz with some defensive investment. Earthquake is used for the final slot in order to deal massive damage to pex, and does enough damage to dragapult so that coverage in throat chop, for example, is not needed.

Roly Mo (Excadrill) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Excadrill acts as the hazard removal for the team and provides a much needed electric immunity, which can help pelipper out. Stealth rocks chip down your opponent's team to the point where pelipper's chances to 2HKO become certain, and rapid spin acts as a great hazard removal tool whilst also boosting speed to outspeed fastser non scarfed pokemon in the tier. Iron head allows excadrill to deal massive damage to clefable to the point where pelipper can KO it, and earthquake is there for a strong STAB coverage move. A focus sash acts as an emergency lifeline and can be used to revenge setup sweepers.

Love Deluxe (Grimmsnarl) (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunder Wave
- Spirit Break

Finally, grimmsnarl is here to act as screens support. A max defensive nature and HP investment allows it to soft check setup hawlucha, which is otherwise a pretty big problem for the team. Volcarona is also a bit of an issue, but thunder wave can be used to help. Spirit break acts as an accurate fairy type move which OHKOs urshifu-s, who can't be paralyzed, and deals good damage to urshifu-r. Prankster with light clay provides the maximum amount of turns for setup and gives scolipede an easier time getting a swords dance up.

So there's the team! I'm honestly quite unsure about a lot of these picks, however I think specs pelipper is really cool and I'd love to make a successful team built around it. Please let me know what you think and suggest whatever you can! Thanks :)

Hello Mr Torkoal,

I am here to rate your team and since your target is Choice Specs-Pelipper I kept it in the team. First off your team looks a little bit weird as these Pokemon won't do a lot in the OU metagame, like Goodra, Conkeldurr and Grimmsnarl. Especially the latter seems out of place as you don't need Dual-Screens on a rather bulky offensive archetype, which your team ended as such as. I made some changes to help you combat the OU metagame better with a team around Specs-Pelipper.

Let's kick it off with the very first member of this team being Pelipper. I kept it as it is without any change at all as this Set is fine and doesn't need a change at all:

:ss/Pelipper:
Pelipper @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature
- Weather Ball
- Hurricane
- Surf

- U-turn

Second of all I kept Excadrill as it is, as it lays out and prevents entry hazards at the same time with having Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin in its arsenal ov moves:

:ss/Excadrill:

Roly Mo (Excadrill) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin

- Stealth Rock

The third member on your team is to guarantee a good electric-resist because your team gets overwhelmed by Zeraora and also faster Dragon-types such as Kingdra under rain, Dragapult, and Hydreigon, therefore I went with Ferrothorn as your third team-member, which is able to Knock off annoying Items and it can set Spikes to overwhelm the opposing team in the long game, especially when Heavy-Duty Boots are knocked off.

:ss/Ferrothorn:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Knock Off
- Body Press

- Leech Seed

The fourth teammate is Urshifu-Rapid Strike as it hits hard in the rain and with its amazing typecombination it guarantees some kills in the process. It can even hit hard without the rain, as it is Choice Band-boosted and it also has a strong priority in Aqua Jet to pick off weakened threats in the lategame, such as Volcarona, Hawlucha, and Zeraora. It also picks off Rotom-Heat, which can be quite troublesome for this team otherwise.

:Urshifu: (Rapid-Strike)
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet

- U-turn

The fifth member on this squad is Dragapult as it is a speed-control and can help with annoying Thunder Waves and additionally Hexes, Dragapult offers an opposing fighting-immunity and can U-turn out to keep up the Momentum for you. Dragapult adds up as a nice Volcarona check as well with crippling it due to Thunder Wave. Dragon Darts hits Blissey, and Rillaboom for a good damage output.

:ss/dragapult:

Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 68 Atk / 188 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Hex
- U-turn
- Dragon Darts

- Thunder Wave

The last member is Primarina as it is a nice addition and can be brought in rather safely with U-turn from Pelipper and Dragapult, the Substitute + Calm Mind-Set is very good recently and the water and fairy-stab combination is really good and it has a chance to break through many threats in the metagame. Its Scald is boosted due to Pelippers Drizzle and can burn opposing Pokemon, which can be abused by Dragapult as it has Hex in its Movepool to dent holes in the opposition.
Furthermore Primarina, Urshifu-R and Dragapult build up a nice offensive core in the metagame, which can take on many threats currently and they cancel out each others weaknesses.

:ss/Primarina:

Primarina @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 40 SpA / 44 SpD / 176 Spe
Calm Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald

- Moonblast

I hope you like this team and you will have fun with it, the entire Pokepaste can be found here: https://pokepast.es/1efa636c2bd8d1d2
