[SET COMMENTS]
Malamar takes its place in the 1v1 metagame as a unique stallbreaker with its ability in Contrary. Superpower is one of Malamar's main moves due to its ability to OHKO Tyranitar and Galarian Darmanitan while also benefiting from the Attack and Defense boosts thanks to Contrary to survive Choice Band Snorlax's and Choice Band Crustle's powerful STAB Giga Impact and Rock Wrecker, respectively. Switcheroo helps Malamar break prevalent stall Pokemon like Type: Null and Galarian Corsola by locking them into a move. Disable benefits Malamar against typical stall-oriented Pokemon that threaten to KO Malamar like Kee Berry Rotom-W and Corviknight, as Malamar can use Disable after Switcheroo to force them to use Struggle. Knock Off acts as a situational STAB move that hits Ghost-types like Galarian Corsola and Aegislash that Superpower would otherwise be unable to hit. 16 Defense EVs are used in order to survive an Icicle Crash from Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, with the rest of the EVs put into Attack and Speed to maximize offensive output.

Malamar's Dark / Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to common Fairy-types like Sylveon, Aromatisse, and Primarina. As such, Steel- and Poison-types like Swords Dance Aegislash, Ferrothorn, Venusaur, and offensive Salazzle make for good partners, as they help Malamar deal with the previously mentioned threats. Malamar in return helps the Steel- and Poison-types deal with certain stall-oriented Pokemon like Corviknight and hard hitters like Choice Band Snorlax and Diggersby. It should also be noted that any powerful special attacker that either outspeeds or 2HKOes Malamar usually wins. Dragapult naturally outspeeds Choice Scarf Malamar and can either cripple Malamar with Disable after using Substitute or OHKO with a Choice Specs-boosted Draco Meteor, while Keldeo, Toxtricity, and Ninetales all have the ability to 2HKO Malamar without being OHKOed themselves. As such, bulkier Pokemon like Goodra and Primarina are appreciated as partners due to having positive matchups against most of the Pokemon previously mentioned. Malamar in return provides coverage against stall Pokemon like Amnesia Galarian Corsola and specially defensive Corviknight.

Malamar takes its place in the 1v1 metagame as a unique stall breaker with its ability in Contrary. Superpower is one of Malamar's main moves due to its ability to activate Contrary for boosts and to OHKO Galarian Darmanitan and Tyranitar. (<-- OHKO on darm is more important so mention that first. Would rephrase to read like something like this; "due to its ability to OHKO Galarian Darmanitan and Tyranitar, whilst also benefiting from the attack and defense raises from Contrary." Is there room here to elaborate on specific benefits from the contrary boosts? Is there a mon you 2hko with the attack boost that you wouldn't otherwise, or does the defense boost avoid any OHKOs? Seems like a valuable point to include if you can find specific benchmarks.) Switcheroo helps Malamar break prevalant stall Pokemon like Corviknight and Galarian Corsola by locking them into a move. (<-- Both of which require the switcheroo + disable combination, so you can merge this with your mentions of stall rotom-h/w.) Disable helps Malamar win against slower attackers like Life Orb Golisopod (<-- How does this help vs golisopod? You can't do anything to avoid being OHKO'd on T1 from leech life or first impression.) and Shell Smash Crustle (<-- Your lose more often than you win vs shell smash. Correct play with crustle is to immediately rock blast, because if malamar user clicks superpower T1, you shell smash and live T2 to outspeed and KO T3. If malamar user clicks switcheroo T1, rock blast will deal 38.3 - 46% from 3 hits. T2 you outspeed because you're now scarfed so that means 76.6% - 92% of damage dealt before crustle is disabled, and struggle on T3 (assuming you don't KO the previous turn) will deal 16.6 - 19.8%. This is only assuming 3 hits both times without crits, and doesn't take into account 2 hits or 4-5 hits, so there's still a lot or RNG variation which would both improve your matchup or make it match worse. This matchup is far too shaky to include. (All calcs were done assuming 252 atk / 252 speed jolly crustle)) as well as certain special attackers that 3HKO Malamar like stall Rotom-Wash and stall Rotom-Heat by using Disable after Switcheroo to force them to struggle. Knock Off on Malamar acts as a situational STAB move which hits Ghost- types like Galarian Corsola and Aegislash that Superpower would otherwise be unable to hit.

Malamar's Dark / Psychic type leaves it vulnerable to common Fairy- types like Sylveon and Aromatisse (<-- S rank primarina says hello, make a mention.). As such, Steel- types like Aegislash and Excadrill make for good partners as they help Malamar deal with the previously mentioned threats. (<-- This is a really hard point to discuss, given the versatility or primarina and sylveon sets coupled with the annoying nature of aromatisse. Finding one mon that reliably deals with all 3 could be difficult, so in addition to aegi and exca i'd be mentioning mons that maintain generally solid matchups such as choice band conk and steelix.) Malamar in return helps the Steel- types deal with certain stall oriented Pokemon like Corviknight and hard hitters like Galarian Darmanitan and Choice Band Snorlax. Due to the aforementioned reasons of dealing with Fairy- types listed above, Poison- types like Gengar and Venusaur also work as possible partners. (<-- Never thought I'd say this, but silvally poison goes well here.) The previously listed Pokemon benefit from Malamar's ability to deal with certain attackers that would OHKO them like Galarian Darmanitan and Incineroar as well as Steel types- like Aegislash and Corviknight whom their attacks prove ineffective to.

While its great that you bring this up, expecting the author to just know a real example for something as context-sensitive as this is a stretch (no offense to Makis). If its something above "give rock type examples" i would have provided the examples myself Seems like a valuable point to include if you can find specific benchmarks.) Disable helps Malamar win against slower attackers like Life Orb Golisopod (<-- How does this help vs golisopod? You're 100% right and should have slashed through the golisopod mention and ask to replace it/combine w/ switcheroo and Shell Smash Crustle (<-- Your lose more often than you win vs shell smash. This matchup is far too shaky to include. (All calcs were done assuming 252 atk / 252 speed jolly crustle)) You should assume the sets that are actually run- lmao. Its even worse for Malamar if its adamant crustle, tho, so this works. again, I would have slashed out the example, could be unclear otherwise as well as certain special attackers that 3HKO Malamar like stall Rotom-Wash and stall Rotom-Heat by using Disable after Switcheroo to force them to struggle. Knock Off on Malamar acts as a situational STAB move which hits Ghost- types like Galarian Corsola and Aegislash that Superpower would otherwise be unable to hit.

Yeah, in 1v1 bc so many 'archetypes' use varying strategies, its fine to list examples that may only beat 2/3 reliably and the other one semireliably, if theres no other examples possible, as long as you have other examples that handle the other one reliably. Malamar in return helps the Steel- types deal with certain stall oriented Pokemon like Corviknight and hard hitters like Galarian Darmanitan and Choice Band Snorlax. Good stuff factually, just need to work on some very subtle things.

Bolded is additions, strikethrough is stuff that should be removed, underline needs to be edited in some way, red is comments. All information I bring are based on 1630 Usage stats (considering anything at or above 6% as of April 2020 usage relevant) and Calcs.

As such, Steel- types like Swords Dance Aegislash and Ferrothorn make for good partners as they help Malamar deal with the previously mentioned threats. Other Pokemon like Choice Band Conkeldurr and Steelix should also be considered due to their ability of maintaining generally solid matchups with the above Pokemon. Malamar in return helps the Steel- types deal with certain stall oriented Pokemon like Corviknight and hard hitters like non-Giga Impact with Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan and Choice Band Snorlax. Due to the aforementioned reasons of dealing with Fairy- types listed above, Poison- types like Gengar, Venusaur, and Silvally-Poison also work as possible partners. The previously listed Pokemon benefit from Malamar's ability to deal with certain attackers that would OHKO them like Galarian Darmanitan and Incineroar as well as Steel types- like Aegislash and Corviknight whom their attacks prove ineffective to.

This entire section can just be combined together. "Malamar's Dark / Psychic type leaves it vulnerable to common Fairy- types like Sylveon, Aromatisse, and Primarina. As such, Steel- and Poison-types like Swords Dance Aegislash, Ferrothorn, Venusaur, and Silvally-Poison make for good partners as they help Malamar deal with the previously mentioned threats. You should also add mentions of Pokemon that beat it w/ other ways. Any powerful special attacker that can either outspeed or 2HKO you will win. Dragapult naturally outspeeds scarf and can either disable anything itself after a sub, or OHKO with specs draco. Keldeo, Toxtricity, and Ninetales will all do too much to it, and Malamar would appreciate bulkier mons that can sponge those kind of attacks. Include what malamar does in return.
