XY OU Choice Band Weavile

Sup, This is my second post on these fourms (The first was the Physical Greninja team.) and now I finnaly have another team I feel like Bragging about :P Hope you enjoy.

First I have a story to tell about this team. So I was playing a Pokemon Y Wonderlocke when I caught a Sneasle, It soon evolved to Weavile and so on. Eventualy I grew a strong bond to Weavile as a Pokemon and then at level 58, Weavile died (R.I.P Weavile. Lv 1 - Lv 58). I then decided to log onto Pokemon Online (Where I build teams and test them before going to Showdown) and to build a team based around Weavile. At first I thought I'd simply use Life Orb Weavile or to mix it up to use Normal Gem Weavile, Then after noticing Weavile's strong base speed stat, I decided to make a choice band set, thus me creating this set and team:

Weavile (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Night Slash/Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Poison Jab

First we have Weavile, The main Pokemon of this team. I wanted to try out a Choice Band set so I did, And let me tell you, It hits hard. First in the Movepool we have Knock Off, Not only does it hit hard as it's STAB Dark type move, It also knock's off the Opponets held Item thus hurting most Choiced Pokemon and most Defensive Pokemon. Next we have Icicle Crash, I perfer it over Ice Punch thus Loosing 10% Accuracy we gain 10% Power and a 30% Flinch chance. Next we have Poison Jab, Not many people expect it and will often send in Fairy's such as Sylveon and Florges to KO Weavile. Ice Shard is our Priority move making Weavile also a great Revenge Killer and a great Late game sweeper.

Gardevoir (M) @ Gardevoirite
Shiny: Yes
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psyshock
- Hypervoice
- Will-O-Wisp
- Focus Blast

Next we have the Mega of the team, Gardevoir. Gardevoir cover's Weavile's Fighting weakness and is also a great Special Attacker. First on the moveset we have Psyshock. Psyshock is here as the Psychic STAB as it also helps Gardevoir become a threat to Physical Defensive wall's and Special Defensive Wall's. Hypervoice after Pixilite becomes a Fairy Type move thus gaining Fairy type stab and becoming a very hard hitting move. Will O Wisp is not expected by most of the player's Ive battled so far and cripples alot of Physical Attackers, Focus Blast is basically Just for coverage and no more is explanation is needed.

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Roar

Heatran is used to cover Gardevoir's Poison and Steel weakness's along with Weavile's Bug weakness's, It also serves as a Special Wall for the team and a Hazard Setter. Stealth Rock is its lead move and is very Helpfull against teams which use Charizard or Talonflame. Next we have Lava Plume, Lava Plume is our main Attacking move, With neutral damage most hit's do around 40%, Lava Plume is also used to Burn Physical attackers crippling them. Next we have Protect. It can be very helpful for scouting the Opponet's next attack and it also helps get off some Leftovers healing. Roar is used to take out Set-Up Attackers and helps deal alot of damage to Talonflame after Stealth Rocks.

Talonflame (F) @ Life Orb
Shiny: Yes
Trait: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz

Talonflame is used to cover Weavile as well, It takes out Bug Types, Fighting Types and Does alot of damage to most Fire Types. So, I didnt want to use the commonly used Choice Band set but I didnt want to use my favorite set, Bulky Talon. So I decided on Swords Dance Talonflame. After one Swords Dance, Talonflames attack becomes around the same as it would if it had been Choice Band, Plus, Talon isint restricted to one single move, Has the ability to heal Rock/Recoil damage with Roost and therefor giving it the ability to do alot of damage to most teams without Heatran.

Garchomp (M) @ Choice Scarf
Shiny: Yes
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Stone Edge
- Poison Jab

Garchomp is my scarfer of the team, Outspeeding most of everything in the current Gen 6 OU Tier. Garchomp has it's two STAB attacks, Earthquake and Outrage. Both hit extemely hard and the combination of Ground and Dragon types attack the OU Meta hard. Honestly, I'm going to end explaining Garchomp here as the rest is pretty obvious.

Thundurus-T (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Volt Switch

Finnaly we have Thundurus, My Set Up Special attacker. After NastyPlot it has over 700 Attack making Thunderbolt hit very hard. Volt Switch keeps momentum up and also hits hard, KOing Most water types. Focus Blast is our Coverage move. Sure I could have used Hidden Power ice, The Mainstream electric Coverage move. Or I could Use Focus Blast in which helps sweep teams with Tyranitar and Hit's hard against mon's that resist/Immune Electric.

So there we have it, The choice band Weavile team. Sorry if I didnt explain/Left out a few things, I was pretty tired when I wrote this. Please give me idea's on what can Help the team. And yes, I do realize Zapdos cover's Weavile perfectly, I just havent gotten to testing him :P

Hi, nice team, I really love the band Weavile set ^^ I have a few suggestions ^^

First off I would change talonflames item to a sharp beak, as this will boost flying moves w 20% and have no recoil. It's good for two reasons, 1. It have no recoil (why did you say that twice e.e) 2. It is able to bluff a band. This is something I myself have had tons of success with, as talon often act as a revenge killer, when people see no life orb or lefties they will assume it's banded, therefore it will often have a really neat surprise factor late game ^^

For chomp, I would change it to a naive nature, and use fire blast >poision jab! as it hits skarm and ferro really hard! something chomp appreciate, even tho your not weak to those ^^ also poison jab gives poor coverage, as it only hits fairies for effectively 10 BP more than EQ does -fireblast is also the hardest hitting move to air balloon exca and aegi ^^

252 Atk Garchomp Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 248-294 (62.9 - 74.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 232-274 (58.8 - 69.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

My last suggestion is changing thundu-T into thundu-I, because of the speed it provides, being able to outspeed garchomp, adamant talonflame, gengar, espeon, Latis, keldeo, terrakion, and mega pinsir and mega manectric the turn it evolves is worth the lose in 20 base spa.. I would also swap out either volt switch or nasty plot for hp ice, as those two moves does not go together too well ^^ you also don't have a switchin for stuff like garchomp and lando-I as they can pretty much 2hko your in tire team ^^

That was it for me, Maybe run toxic on heatran, but I don't know over what, so I will just leave it as a little note here ^^

Hope it helped.

Anyways, good luck laddering!

Cheers! ^^

Hey MollyHatchet79 cool team! Weavile is definitely an underused threat this gen with its ice attacks being able to check common mons like Landorus-I/T and with dark type moves getting their buff. I'd suggest running Knock Off over Night Slash. Knock Off is too amazing to pass up this gen, getting the extra boost in power when knocking off an item, and common switch ins will be worn down, allowing for an easier sweep with Talonflame. Now if you have Knock Off unfortunately that makes Icicle Crash illegal as that is a Gen 6 bred move and Knock Off was a move tutor in a previous generation. In order to fix this I suggest running Ice Punch on it over that, as well as Low Kick over Poison Jab that way you can deal with common threats suck as Tyranitar, who will be baited in to sponge your dark moves, and once again give Talonflame an easier chance at sweeping with one of its main counters gone. By running a Jolly nature, you are able to outspeed and take out threats like Greninja who at the moment you don't have a real switch-in to.

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Ice Punch
- Low Kick
Protect on Heatran coupled with toxic gives you a nasty staller that helps you better deal with SD roost Talonflame as well as gives you that extra recovery when Latios are spamming draco and are trying to wear you down. I'd suggest that over roar as honestly the most common set up sweepers are pokemon like Mega Scizor, Mega Mawile and Bisharp all of which you can beat with Lava Plume. Protect also helps you vs choice locked mons and aids in prediction. Talonflame set is good, i'd suggest adjusting the evs just a bit though. With this spread you have a little extra bulk as well as outspeeding Thundurus-I, one of the "counters" or rather checks to Talonflame. Also suggesting Sharp Beak over Life Orb as it has no extra recoil and you can bluff the choice band until you find it necessary to SD.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Protect
- Stealth Rock

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
My final suggestion, as mentioned earlier by WideTomato is changing Thundurus-T to Thundurus-I. This gives you the speed to knock out threats such as Latios at +2 with Stealth Rock support as well as gives you a bit of insurance vs set up mons with Prankster Thunderwave. I like the Nasty Plot set and I believe that it fits well with this team. You have Talonflame and Heatran as well as Focus Blast on Mega Gardevoir so replacing Focus Blast with Thunder Wave wouldn't be a bad change.

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Anyway, that's all i've got! Once again cool team and i hope i helped! :]
