SS OU Choice Band Boltund Team

Hello! I recently made an OU team that focuses on the use of a Choice Band Boltund. Boltund being fast, outspending threats like Dugtrio and Cinderace; and with Strong Jaw makes it a powerhouse. I wanted to build a team around it and here is what I got.

Boltund (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Fang
- Fire Fang
- Crunch
- Volt Switch

The star of the show. With Strong Jaw boosted moves such as Thunder Fang, Fire Fang, and Cruch; paired with a Choice Band Boltund can demolish offensive threats such as Dugtrio, Cinderace, and others. Volt Switch enables it to gain momentum if an opponent switches in a mon such as Hydregion or Dracovish; which can be switched into a check to them.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Tomb
- Earthquake

The dedicated suicide lead. With access to Mold Breaker this mon can bypass abilities such as Magic Bounce, Leviate, and others; Excadrill can set up rocks safely. With Rock Tomb & Rapid Spin, this ensures Excadrill to outspeed an opposing mon who is faster than it, and either give the opposing mon chip damage, or remove/give Rocks if tampered with.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon
- Flamethrower
- U-turn

The scarfer. Paired with the Choice Scarf, Hydreigon can outspeed mons Boltund cannot outspeed, such as Barraskewda and Dragapult. Dragon/Steel/Fire coverage can hit almost every pokemon type neutrally. U-Turn is paired for momentum, incase the opposing mon switches to a defensive wall, such as Toxapex or Corsola.

Corsola-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Strength Sap
- Haze
- Night Shade

The wall. Corsola with the Eviolte, Will-O-Wisp and Strength Sap can tank a lot of physical mons, effectively gaining HP back with Strength Sap. Night Shade is used to effectively break Substitutes from mons such as Gyarados. This pokemon has mixed Defense EVs to ensure it receives good bulk on both ends.

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Tailwind
- Energy Ball
- U-turn

With Prankster Encore, Whimsicott can shut down set up sweepers such as Aegislash, Polteageist, Gyarados, and others, and quickly U-Turn out for Boltund or Hydregion to deal with. Tailwind is used to ensure Boltund can outspeed pokemon that outspeed it, such as Barraskewda and Dragapult. Energy Ball is used for Seismetoad, which can wall Boltund.

Golisopod @ Assault Vest
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Metal Claw

With it's amazing Attack stat, Golisopod can OHKO an opposing Hydreigon, or finish off low HP mons that do not resist Bug. Paired with the Assault Vest, Golisopod has more bulk due to it's already high defense stat, and Max HP investment. Leech Life regains HP, therefore can activate Emergency Exit again and can safely switch into Boltund or Hydregion.

Feedback and constructive criticism is welcome :)

Welcome to Smogon! I'm locking your RMT for the time being as the forum rules require that you provide at least 3 lines of descriptions for each Pokemon to explain their roles. Please read the rules carefully and take a look at Team Showcase to see the level of detail we require. PM me with updated descriptions and I'll be happy to unlock this.

unlocked!

i think av golisopod is not as good as cb. Choice band with aqua jet, first impression, liquidation and close combat, 252 attack evs, 252 hp evs and 4 defense evs.

Golisopod @ Choice Band
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Aqua Jet
- Liquidation
- Close Combat

Hydreigon needs dark pulse, so switch it out for flash cannon. you have excadrill for fairy counters.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn

Excadrill nowadays run iron head to hit so many pokemon harder instead of rock tomb. Also iron head + eq is very good offensively. Rock tomb is outclassed as rock+ ground isnt as great as steel+ground offensively. The speed drop can be useful to cripple faster pokemon but the raw power of rock tomb is not enough to hurt anyone.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake

I’m gonna consider rating this team after testing it out. I just can’t let RMTs with non-viable mons not being rated. Let me see...
