ORAS OU Charizard Y Offense

Hello people of Smogon. I'm relatively new to competitive battling, so I'm really not that good at it. However, I recently tried building a team that I thought would do pretty well. I've tried it a few times on Showdown, and I did okay. Maybe it's my lack of skill and experience, or I just didn't do a good job of building my team. To see if my team is decent enough, I've decided to come here and ask people who are presumably much better than me if it's good, and how I can improve it.

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost
First, we have Charizard. Since I knew I wanted to have Charizard Y on my team, I built pretty much the entire team around it. With its good Speed and amazing Special Attack, it's already a decent special sweeper. However, as if that wasn't enough, it has Drought as its ability, boosting the power of Flamethrower, its main STAB move, even further. It also as access to Solar Beam as long as Drought is still active, which is a good coverage move for getting rid of those pesky Water and Rock-types it hates so much. Additionally, it can use Focus Blast as yet another coverage move, great for hitting some possible threats to it, such as Heatran and Tyranitar. Finally, Roost is there to help Charizard with recovering, which is exceptionally useful if Stealth Rock is on the field. However, it would be a much better idea to get rid of any entry hazards that could hurt it with another team member I'll mention in a bit. Obviously, most of its EVs go into Special Attack and Speed to make it as much of a threat as possible and a good sweeper.

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
As briefly mentioned earlier, Excadrill can rid of any entry hazards that could harm anyone, particularly Charizard. However, along with being the team's Rapid Spinner, it can also set up Stealth Rocks. It's other two moves are there as good STAB attacks that can get rid of things such as Fairies and those Rock-types that could really do some damage to Charizard. It has maximum Speed EVs and a +Speed nature in order to ensure it can safely set up/get rid of entry hazards.

Serperior @ Life Orb
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Glare
- Giga Drain
Serperior is here to beat any Rock/Water-types Charizard and Excadrill may not be able to handle. Leaf Storm is a great STAB attack that can give it more power to make a deadly sweeper. Dragon Pulse is a good coverage move that can take out Dragon-types that resist its other attacks. Glare is there to cripple any faster foes that could cause it some trouble, such as Talonflame. Last but not least is Giga Drain, a good STAB attack that can regain health lost from the Life Orb. Giga Drain also works as another STAB move that works fairly well if Leaf Storm is out of PP. It's EVs, held item, and Nature are set up in such a way to make a fantastic special sweeper.

Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
Here we have Haxorus, a physical sweeper with STAB moves that do mostly neutral damage, with other coverage moves to take care of those types that take Dragon-type moves pretty well. Dragon Dance is there to make its already high attack (and decent speed) even deadlier. Outrage is a great STAB attack made even greater due to the Lum Berry curing its confusion afterward. Earthquake and Poison Jab take care of Steel and Fairy-types that resist or aren't affected by Outrage. Its EVs are mostly poured into Attack and Speed to make it a good physical sweeper, with its Attack boosted even further by its nature.

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick
Weavile is another great physical sweeper that can give almost anyone who it isn't weak to a hard time.
Icicle Crash and Knock Off are good STAB moves, especially Knock Off, as it can get rid of items that some Pokemon may be very dependent on. Ice Shard is there as a STAB priority move just in case its already amazing speed with max EVs and a +Speed nature isn't enough. Finally, Low Kick can hit Rock and Steel-types hard, as well as get rid of Chansey after its Eviolite has been knocked off. Its EVs and Life Orb turn its Attack stat into a force to be reckoned with, while its nature and EVs boost its Speed.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Wish
I honestly had no idea what to do with this last slot, so I just put Sylveon here. Hyper Voice boosted by Pixilate is a great STAB attack. Psyshock and Hidden Power Fire cover its weaknesses of Poison and Steel-types respectively, and Wish can recover health for either it, or anyone else on the team. Maximum EVs for HP makes Wish a better recovery for others on the team, and max Special Attack as well as its nature makes it better offensively.

That's it! Any feedback or constructive criticism would be appreciated!

Hey FhantoBlob decent team , personally I really Charizard Y its monstrous SpA under sun makes it a really deadly Wallbreaker , it also has decent coverage and less counters.

So, first of all I think Modest > Timid on Zard Y , you are using Flamethrower so Modest Nature adds the much needed SpA , you can also try Fire Blast > Flamethrower , with 110 power and Stab Zard Y becomes really deadly , but the loss in accuracy is noticeable. Although , this change is optional , Timid + Flamethrower also works but Modest secures a few OHKOs.

Next , I think you have no answers to opposing Zard X , it sweeps your team after 1 dd , you seriously need something for Zard X so, I think Heatran > Excadrill , Heatran don't only deals with Zard X but also adds a flying spam check to your team. Balloon Heatran can be a nice option but scarf Heatran can be used too as it can also outspeed fast electrics and adds a revenge killer to your team.

If you are going with Scarf Heatran then Garchomp > Haxorus , as it fills the role of rock setter for your team , also it can late game clean or can be used as wall breaker and a Bisharp check.

Charizard Y really appreciates Pursuit support , as you already have weavile so I think Pursuit > Low Kick on Weavile.

Atlast , as you have written you had no idea what to add for last slot and you also lacks a bulky water , So I think Starmie > Sylveon , Starmie synergies good with your team and don't kills speed of your team and also adds a fast spinner.

Thanks for the feedback, man! I've tried out the team a few times with the changes you recommended, and it's been working out pretty well. However, due to Charizard's nature being changed, it is a whole lot slower now, and I've been losing a lot because of that. Since then, I've taken the liberty of giving Charizard a Timid nature once more, and it's worked out a lot better than a Modest Zard Y. Aside from that, the new team is miles better than the old one!
