This team was built roughly 2 years ago with help and guidance from Plus, it was my X and Y team, it is built to allow Charizard X to sweep mid to late game, having Ferrathorn put down Stealth Rocks first. Togekiss can act as a wall and annoyance and soften targets, Rotom is also support and can fill a Special Attacker Role. Aegislash and Excedrill are secondary DPS with Excedrill also clearing up pesky field hazards that can injure Charizard and my other Pokemon.
Now Sun and Moon are out, I am looking to maybe update the team, my problem is that Im not the best team builder, I know this team and some ideas of where to go, but I could use some extra advice and thoughts, are there new pokemon that can fill some of these roles better for example....I'll start by saying I know I have a fire weakness with the steel types I have, anyway, help is appreciated in bringing this team into this new exciting Generation ^_^
Ancalagon (Charizard-Mega-X) (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
The main member of my team, he is the mid to late game sweeper and the pokemon the team is built around, this is a very basic move set, get a DD off, Flare Blitz is a STAB move and used when you need maximum damage, Dragon Claw is also a STAB move and the one you'll likely use the most, Earthquake is to give him some extra coverage.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 208 Def / 44 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
Ferrathron is my Defensive/Support Pokemon, I will normally bring him out first to be my Hazard setter, Stealth Rock being my primary Hazard. Rocky Helmet and Iron Barbs allows it to punish anyone who dare physically challenge him, and Leech Life allows him to recover lost Health with poor Speed and and a IV of 0 Speed, Gyro Ball can wreak faster pokemon and Fairy Pokemon alike, and Power Whip allows him to cover other annoyances such as a Garaydos or Azumarill.

Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 216 SDef / 44 Spd
Calm Nature
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Dazzling Gleam
This pokemon is awesome and my Special Attacker/Troll, her Bulk allows her to take hits and stall her enemies with ease. Serene Grace and Thunder Wave, paired with Air Slash allows her to put her enemies into crippled limbo. Since Dragons were dominant, Dazzling Gleam is for them. Roost and Leftovers gives her survivability.
Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
This is my go to Pivot Pokemon, Id say he is also good at weakening enemies and hampering their ability to damage my team if they are physical hitters thanks for Will-O-Wisp, Hydro Pump gives him some coverage against ground and fire types and is potent over all, the combo of Rest/Chesto allows him to recover his health and wake up instantly. He is also great support for my Steel type Pokemon as he can cover their weaknesses by taking out fire type Pokemon.
Lydia (Aegislash-Blade) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Brave Nature
- King's Shield
- Sacred Sword
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
I fell in love with this pokemon first time I saw it, its bulky, can take punishment and thanks to Swords Dance it can act as my Set Up Sweeper if Charizard X won't cut it, and thanks to its priority, Shadow Sneak allows me to KO weakened pokemon.
Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

This is my Teams best friend, he keeps them safe when they decide to sweep as Rapid Spin gets rid of Entry Hazards, which would cripple my Charizard, the rest of his moves gives him coverage others in my team don’t have and his high attack and speed makes him a 3rd possible sweeper.
Team Weaknesses? Fire types, as I have 3 Steel types, also Stealth Rock as it threatens my primary Pokemon Charizard X and can also injure my other team mates.
Big Thanks to Plus, this team would not have been realized without him, I have been playing Pokemon since Classic Red, but didn't learn to breed a competitive pokemon till X and Y, I still massively lack in ability to build a good team myself. With Sun and Moon and the new Pokemon and moves, I feel this team may be outdated in places and Im looking to improve it, but Im not totally sure where to start, Do I go with my gut and slash Aegislash for something else so I have less of a weakness to fire types? Thats why Im here, I need help, I love pokemon but I have disabilities and it hinders my ability to enjoy the game at its fullest, and I really want to.
