Ceruledge @ Focus Sash
Ability: Weak Armor
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Poltergeist
- Bitter Blade
- Shadow Sneak
Gaining the powerful physical Ghost-type attack Poltergeist in Pokemon HOME gave a much-needed second wind to the spectral knight of the Paldea region, Ceruledge, bringing it back into the spotlight as a niche-but-highly dangerous option on hyper offense and sun teams. The combination of Focus Sash and its ability Weak Armor allows Ceruledge to survive any physical hit, doubling its Speed in the process. Combine this with Swords Dance to double its Attack and its signature move Bitter Blade to hit hard while replenishing the HP lost activating Weak Armor, and you have a sweeper that can snowball out of control extremely quickly, with Ghost-type STAB moves Poltergeist and Shadow Sneak rounding out its moveset with power and priority, respectively. Tera Fairy is a defensive tool with generally good resistances and neutralities compared to Ceruledge's somewhat fragile original typing, but it is perhaps most useful in taking on Sucker Punch from Ceruledge's biggest obstacle, Kingambit. Ceruledge fits best on offensive structures due to its highly volatile nature, with solid entry hazard control such as Great Tusk being a must for Focus Sash. Torkoal, another spinner, pairs particularly well, as a Ceruledge with access to sun will not only hurt more with Bitter Blade but sustain itself more as a result.
