Introduction

Hi! Welcome to my first SS PU RMT, this time I tried to build around Hippopotas and Stoutland and form a Sand team, It was made a bit easy for me because the goal is a little unstable and I tried to do my best with nothing more to say I will explain the team.

Teambuilding Process

The main idea of the team was a team stall with Band Stoutland but the truth is that I was not entirely convinced by the idea since it was going to be very fragile with many stallbreakers in the tier so I decided to make the team more offensive, Hippopotas is the Sand Setter and the soul of the team with Stoutland its function is to place Stealth Rocks and Sand to break with Stoutland.

Since it is a team sand and we only had one advantage of it, I decided to add to Sandslash SD that it is a great wallbreaker if it manages to make a good set-up in the field and can end many pokemon with the combination of Earthquake + Stone Edge and Rapid spin to remove hazards and increase the speed out of the sand.

Here I decided to add Klinklang to have a setup swepper that would take advantage of the sand and not have many problems with Appletun Specs, Lilligant and Rapidash-Galar, this peculiar set I like with substitute to avoid possible status problems like will-o-wisp or thunder wave besides helping vs other Klinklang.

Kadabra is a pokemon that I like since I came from the DLC, I decided to add it to have a fixed check to the Fight types, I particularly like the Counter Sash set since it helps a little with certain pokemon besides Kadabra is immune to Sand for his Magic Guard ability.

The last slot I was very hesitant but seeing my weakness to the fight and that Butterfree fit perfectly into the team I decided to add it, it mainly serves as Setup Swepper and Check of the type fights and Grass types like Trevenant or gourgeist that can be very annoying for the team , this is the only pokemon that does not take advantage of the sand but was necessary in the team.

In-Depth

hippopotas.gif

Hippopotas @ Smooth Rock / Eviolite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Toxic / Whirlwhind
- Slack Off

Hippopotas is the physical defensive of the team in addition to the Stealth Rock Setter and the one who places the sand on the field to be taken advantage of by Stoutland and Sandslash, I do not have much to explain since his set is quite standard but it can vary a bit, Smooth Rock allows that the sand is used much more since it lasts 7 turns in the field instead eviolite allows Hippopotas to be a little more Bulky and increases its longevity in the field, Toxic allows to give a status problem to some pokemon that want to enter before Hippopotas in Whirlwind change allows you to remove some Setup Sweppers from the field such as Throh, Klingklang and even some Lilligant or Bellosom.

sandslash.gif

Sandslash @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin / Knock Off

Sandslash seems to me a good pokemon currently in the tier, the combination of Earthquake + Stone Edge and Swords dance make it a very good setup Swepper also in the sand its speed increases twice, Sandslash has problems vs Bulky Grass-Types like Tangela , Appletun, Leafeon, Trevenant and Gourgeist That is why Butterfree is necessary in the team to check most of the Grass-Types that annoy Sandslash to be able to do a Setup-Swepp, Sandslash does not have much to vary perhaps Life orb instead of Leftovers to having a little more power in their attacks instead Leftovers helps to have a little more longevity in the field, Knock off can help to hit pokemon like Gourgeist or Trevenant although it does not help much since most of the time they carry Colbur Berry instead Rapid Spin helps to remove hazards from the field in addition to increasing its speed which can help after the Sand finishes.

stoutland.gif

Stoutland @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Retaliate / Strength
- Superpower
- Facade / Strength
- Crunch

Stoutland is the second advantage of the sand after Sandslash, since this generation lost Return does not have a very powerful normal attack in addition to Retaliate or Strength, also Band + a very good movepool make it very fearsome Retaliate is more than everything to enter Revenge Killer since it doubles its power from 70 to 140, Strength can be used too but to make stoutland more like a Swepper, Superpower helps to hit some Steel types like KlinKlang, Mawile and Pawniard, Facade is for when you get paralyzed or you They poison and bend power, Crunch is mainly because without Scrappy we cannot hit Ghost-Types like Gourgeist, Trevenant or Dusknoir.

klinklang.gif

Klinklang @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Shift Gear
- Gear Grind
- Wild Charge

Klinklang is mainly to not have problems with Appletun, Lilligant and Rapidash-Galar besides functioning as Setup Swepper, Klinklang can have problems with Stunkfish so it is important to keep Sandslash healthy in order to check him, This particular set I like very much for him substitute to avoid burns or paralysis of certain pokemon and even avoid Lech Seed, Wild Charge helps with certain bulky water-type pokemon like Mareanie.

kadabra.gif

Kadabra @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Counter

Kadabra is here to check the Fight-Types together with Butterfree, This set especially is my favorite since it can be taken to 1 or 2 pokemon if the Counter, Dazzling Geam is played well to hit Dark types like Pawniard or Thievul, Shadow ball allows to hit Type-Ghost and Psychic pokemon that can be problematic like Drifblim, Gourgeist, Trevenant, Beheeyem, Musharna and opposing Kadabra.

butterfree.gif

Butterfree @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute / Roost
- Sleep Powder
- Quiver Dance
- Hurricane

As I said before Butterfree is the main Check of the Grass-Types and Fight that can also serve as a Setup-Swepper if used at the right time, the truth is that Butterfree does not have much to change in your set besides Roost that can help increase your Longevity on the other hand Substitute allows to avoid state problems like Toxic or thunder wave, the combination of Quiver Dance + Hurricane and Sleep power can be very good if used at the right time since it can make a clean Swepp if a good Boost is obtained.

Thanks to all for reading! I hope you liked the team and excuse me a little for my bad English.

hello RahelGamer03 - cool sand team you have here! I'll make this a quick rate since your team is pretty solid as is.

Minor Changes:
:klinklang:
This isn't totally necessary, but since Klinklang is generally faster than most pokemon after it sets up shift gear, you could consider allocating 64 evs into hp to augment bulk and take on passive pokemon like mareanie more comfortably. 192 speed evs would allow you to creep adamant lycanroc, while outspeeding virtually everything at +2 speed. Alternatively, if you wanted to opt for more bulk, a spread of 140 HP / 176 Atk / 192 Spe would give you a pretty good chance to survive mr. rime's focus blast at full health.
Klinklang @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Shift Gear
- Gear Grind
- Wild Charge

Major Changes:
:butterfree: :ninjask:
Given that butterfree was banned recently, I would suggest replacing it for Ninjask because its a good offensive pivot, set up sweeper, and revenge killer that retains a solid secondary grass and fighting check for your team. Additionally, it improves your rain match up and synergies well with sandslash and klinklang since they wear down each others checks. In order for ninjask to be effective, it should run at least enough Speed to outspeed Unburden Drifblim and +1 Liligant after protect, but you can give it a little more speed for creeping opposing ninjask if you wish.
Ninjask @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Dual Wingbeat
- Swords Dance
- Protect

:kadabra: :lilligant:
Finally, if you do end up swapping butterfree out for Ninjask, I think replacing Kadabra for Lilligant could work well here since Pokemon like Golduck and Drednaw look very potent versus your team due to the lack of water resist. If Lilligant were to be used, it would give you another wincon that could break down bulky grass-types like appletun and tangela for your sand sweepers and improve your stall match up if you opted for Aromatherapy > Sleep Powder.
Lilligant (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Giga Drain
- Pollen Puff
- Sleep Powder / Aromatherapy

cool team, hope my suggestions helped and good luck in the remaining rounds of pu open! :toast:
