[SET]
Bulky Swords Dance (Scizor) @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 128 SpD / 20 Spe
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off / U-turn / Sand Tomb
- Roost
[SET COMMENTS]
Mega Scizor functions as an excellent late-game wincon due to its access to strong priority in Technician boosted Bullet Punch, as well as being an excellent defensive piece, being able to switch in reliably on threats such as Iron Valiant, Kartana, and Rillaboom. Knock Off can be used in order to cripple would-be switch-ins such as Gholdengo, Zapdos, and Moltres. U-turn allows Mega Scizor to pivot out and gain momentum on threats such as Heatran and Mega Charizard Y switching in as well as defensive Pokemon such as Corviknight, Ferrothorn, and Alomomola. Sand Tomb is a more niche option that can be used in order to deal large damage to non-Air Balloon Heatran, as well as trapping Pokemon such as Toxapex switching in. 112 Defense EVs allow Mega Scizor to live 2 Mega Lopunny Close Combats after Stealth Rock and 20 Speed EVs allow Mega Scizor to outspeed uninvested Heatran.
Mega Scizor fits well on offense, bulky offense and balance teams due to its defensive capabilities as well as ability to clean up in the later stages of the game with Swords Dance and Bullet Punch. Mega Scizor is extremely vulnerable to Fire-type moves from Pokemon such as Heatran, Volcarona, and Mega Charizard Y, meaning switch-ins such as Heatran, Toxapex, and Alomomola are appreciated. Mega Scizor also struggles to break through Steel-type Pokemon such as Kingambit, Melmetal, and Ferrothorn, making Fighting-types such as Urshifu-R and Zamazenta excellent partners. In return, Fighting-types benefit from Mega Scizor breaking through Fairy-type Pokemon such as Clefable and Iron Valiant. Mega Scizor provides an excellent switch-in to Psychic-types such as Tapu Lele, making teammates that benefit from this such as Great Tusk and Toxapex great partners. Mega Scizor also appreciates Stealth Rock setters such as Landorus-T, as they chip switch-ins such as Heatran and Corviknight, while Mega Scizor can help setters by removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon such as Moltres and Zapdos, making them vulnerable to Stealth Rock.
