Proof Of Peak

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1782404151-luj6hcvrdvlh9ikcvhkdpum9dqut8dgpw Didn’t save a pic, but this is obviously no 1.

Teambuilding
:Chien-Pao: :Garchomp: Original 2 mon core I wanted to use, very solid offensive core and destroys fat really easily while still being decent vs offense.
:Masquerain: Originally this team was webs and masquerain did the thing of setting webs up.
:Gholdengo: Solid mon added for stopping hazard removal the majority of the time with balloon.
:Kingambit: Added as specified late game cleaner who abused webs well.
:Great Tusk: Masquerain likes to let mons set up hazard, this removes them. Also removes items, take physical hits and threaten damage.
Eventually after reaching no 1 with this, I had the genius idea of what if I didn’t hinder myself with webs, thus :meowscarada: entered as a spike suicide lead who can launch off fast knock and taunts and after some minor moveset/Ev changes the team became what it is now.

The Team

Chien-Pao @ Black Glasses
Ability: Sword of Ruin
Tera Type:
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Spinner
- Sucker Punch
- Crunch
- Sacred Sword

The main breaker for this team, It just abuses hazards and does 2 million damage. Ice spinner is for all those psyspam people running around and black glasses is a good midground between hdb and band so you still do damage. Adamant also is the only ability on this ever worth running because I’m trying to break with this. Tera dark is because sucker punch/crunch ends up ohkoing every mon In the tier

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Rash Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast

Chain chomp is back this gen too and he’s better than ever. We got rash on this because only hydreigon really outspeeds rash but not naive, and as our secondary breaker we want our draco to kill things. It also sets up rocks when it isn’t in the process of forcing switches and doing 70-110% on the whole tier. Also the main anti-stall mon as knock spam+this is fun. Tera fire combined some defensive buffing with powering up fire blast though I hardly click Tera on this. Also since it’s still a garchomp, it’s defensive profile is decent too.

Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 192 Def / 60 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Bulk Up

Next we got even more standard boring stuff with bulk up tusk. Knock is insane this gen because there’s no good absorption and he spins those pesky hazards away. Also takes physical hits from kingambit which otherwise 6-0s us. Bulk up keeps this offensive and Tera fire stops wisp but mainly is our wisp volcarona counterplay because volc is scary. Speed creeps 224 with evs.

Kingambit @ Lum Berry
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

I’m a big fan of winning, so this wins games. It’s the cleaner of the team which does mean you want to minimize the hits this takes early. Standard Sd moveset but Lum let’s you deal with rotom/pult better and Tera fairy let’s you take hits from tusk and is a generally good defensive typing. Evs are a part of the fun game of king and Skeledirge speed creeping each other. This also has amazing synergy with pao, pao breaks through and weakens dark resist or forced Tera into fairy types for this to have an easier end game.

Meowscarada @ Focus Sash
Ability: Overgrow
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Spikes
- Knock Off
- Taunt
- Leaf Storm

The cat is here for 2 reasons. Set up spikes, and remove some items from fatter teams, it then dies. Leaf storm ohkoes tusks so we just don’t have to deal with it if they leave it in for some random reason. Also is just strong in general. Taunt shuts down glimmora well and let’s you annoy those recovery guys. Tera fairy is for dragon darts since I don’t click Tera ghost on this. Tera itself is rarely used on this.

Gholdengo @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain
- Recover
- Nasty Plot

Those hazards we spent 3 turns spamming? This guy keeps them up. Balloon gholdengo is very good at that. But it becomes better when you realize it adds a switch in to those status spreaders, is an insanely threatening sweeper, has amazing bulk, and an amazing typing and then can Tera into fairy to remove weaknesses and become an even nastier defensive typing. Really can’t explain this more, it’s easily the most important part to hazard stacking teams and let’s you not get 6-0d by that pex spamming toxic so that’s nice. Usually works as a way to slow the game down and it’s more threatening answers like kingsmbit have switch ins on this team.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1781894719-bn4stf5irg9bm8vwcjms5p06qft1myspw Misplayed early but pulls it back. Meow gets a kill and hdb tusk proves a touch mu

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1781874622-9jn5q8bt1c8gkyzrbceexk8i25ydhs1pw Really offensive balance vs ho matchup. Pao proves too threatening for the defensive core.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1781455059-z3965dix6jqepns2s53y0m5py065btapw Shows the good mu vs psyspam which is spammed right now

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1780326146-wqfyw58mkzz5k6xl7eisgy2kp8ozgevpw Garchomp breaks through a slower team

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-1779627776-o8qw8fuvqakditm5kfbhdjnxjr4x216pw Lum gambit stays insane in these lategame scenarios.

Threat List

:Iron Treads: :Toedscruel: Both threaten rapid spin and deal with Gholden far better than tusk
:Chien-Pao: not an issue in a vacuum but forcing defensive Tera for another threat can be very powerful
:Breloom: Tera fire Tera blast loaded dice can be very scary
:Quaquaval: No water resist can easily snowball
:Skeledirge: Hard to kill without taking tons of damage, usually knock/force it out for better positioning
:Hydreigon: Defensive Tera Of some sort can be insanely threatening because np 3 attacks ohkoes everything.

Chain chomp is back! nice team, gratz on the peak. Lum berry on kingambit is very interesting, how would you feel about tera fire with lefties instead? While you do lose out on the amazing defensive typing of fairy, fire isn't bad in a meta with chien-pao and gholdengo, and you can run an item since you can't get burned. Only problem is that it makes the washtom matchup a bit more prediction based.

How do I deal with Chien-Pao
Not the team creator, but chain chomp can get rocks up early game to keep non HDB out, the teras of each mon are able to take on Chien Pao, Chien Pao and Kingambit soft check other Chien Pao, and none of the mons let in Chien pao super free (it’s forced in with doubles so you can play aggressive to try and keep it out). Ultimately nothing really wants to take a hit though, but that’s how Chien pao is
