Introduction:
I haven't really made too many teams before and I've never made an RMT before,
but I thought that blacephalon and kartana hit a lot of the metagame for decent damage and synergize well with each other since blacephalon beats a lot of the mons that wall kart and vise versa. I decided to build a team around them, because of that.
The team:
Blacephalon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Psyshock/trick
I made blacephalon specs, because I want the damage and I have a few ways to get it in safely.
I'm running psyshock to hit blissey, but you can easily change this to trick. I just like to keep my specs.
The ev spread is pretty standard. Nothing to say about that and I have flamethrower since I don't like missing. If the opposing team doesn't have a ghost resist you can go to town with this easily.
Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off
The second pokemon to complete my core. Without the scarf on kartana my team gets destroyed by lele and like this I can at least switch it in once.
The moveset is pretty standard. I don't really know about many other options for scarf kartana. I'm running adamant over jolly for additional power and I don't think you need to speedtie with other scarfed kartanas, because they are checked by buzzwole/lando.
Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Hurricane
- Defog
Tornadus is the defoger for the team. Blacephalon appreciates rocks getting removed.
It's going to be your lead most of the time since it's great at scouting and it can bring in one of the breakers with u-turn.
I chose knock off, because it is very spammable and removing the item of some pokemon can cripple them a lot.
I'm running max speed to speedtie with opposing tornaduses and to outspeed adamant barraskewda outside of rain.
You can calc how much barraskewda does to one of your pokemon to find out if it's adamant.
Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 232 HP / 76 Atk / 88 Def / 112 Spe
Impish Nature
- Ice Punch
- Close Combat
- Roost
- Thunder Punch
This pokemon is your weavile, barraskewda, dragonite and urshifu check. If your opponent has any of these pokemon you need to make sure that buzzwole stays alive.
It also checks other physical attackers that lando also checks like zeraora, garchomp, kartana and melmetal.
The ev spread allows you to almost always not get two-hit koed by banded weavile triple axel and banded urshifu surging strikes with no rocks up.
I must say that I just dragged the evs until they looked pretty, but they've been working quite well for me. I've had my buzzwole live on 1-5% a few times already. I'm running thunder punch to hit corviknight and ice punch to hit landorus. Roost is there to keep buzzwole at 100% when it needs to not get 2 hit koed by things.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off/Toxic
- U-turn
I'm running spdef landorus as a check to lele. As you can see the team is very weak to lele. And it's the rocker for the team.
The ev spread is pretty standard again. It gets my breakers in with u-turn and removes the items.
I'm running knock off over toxic, because I like knock off, but you can easily run toxic, if pokemon like landorus are annoying you a lot.
Eq is there for stab and to do decent damage to lele.
Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled
- Teleport
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
My last pokemon is blissey. It can get blacephalon or kartana in with teleport and it checks special breakers such as dragapult, nidoking, blacephalon and offensive zapdos. I'm running thunder wave, because it can cripple fast pokemon a lot and your opponent can get punished, if they switch one of their strong physical attackers into blissey. You can also hax opponents with this. Seismic toss is there for reliable damage.
