Best users of Hypnosis

As we all know, Hypnosis is back to 60% accuracy again, sadly. Who are the best users of Hypnosis with it's once again dropped accuray?
While Gengar had Hypnosis as it's signature move of sort since R/B/Y, it's still one of the best users of it!

Gengar is a very unique Pokemon; a Ghost/Poison type with many elements of Psychics and Darks-in-game psychics also use Gengar's evolutionary family very often now. Gengar's wonderful speed and great coverage it the main reason it makes a great sleep inducer, beeing able to strike hard any predicted status absorber switch-in.
Even until this generation, I was originally using Psychic; but as Pursuit is of much more use than before, I preffer Hypnosis now as Gengar "Psychic niche", as I wouldn't want to be even more of a Pursuit bait.

What about you? What Pokemon make the best users of Hypnosis, and sleep inducing in general, in your opinion(s)?

Personally, I use Purugly. Its good speed surprises some people. Plus, when battling my brother and cousins, I use a Hypnosis Purugly lead that annoys the fuck out of them.

Bronzong, in my opinion, purely for the fact that it has so many turns available to use it.

Gengar is actually probably one of the WORST users of Hypnosis in the Platinum metagame - he's so frail, he can't afford to take a hit if it misses.

Honestly, the only really viable user anymore is Bronzong, but that slot on him just seems like it would be better as Explosion, a secondary Attack move, or another support option (SR/Screens). There's a reason Gengar's usage has fallen from like #2 to what it is now, why Bronzong is becoming an increasingly less common lead, and why both Yanmega and Milotic have fallen out of OU.

Seconded.

This may sound N00by, but surprise them with dream Eater

I doubt that the opposing battler would leave the sleeping pokemon in for you to eat any dreams. It's certainly possible, but unlikely, thus ultimately a waste of a move slot. Even if all pokemon stay in when you put them to sleep, Dream Eater is still a waste of a moveslot; Genger isn't particularly bulky, so the healing isn't useful and Dream Eater's typing can be replaced with a move with better type coverage.

Then again, you were probably just making a joke. But I took it seriously because that's just what I do.

And I would agree with Bronzong with 60% hypnosis accuracy; he's got the bulk to survive a miss. And can put up SR the following turn.

Don't bother with Hypnosis. 40% chance to miss is too much, even on something as bulky as Bronzong. If you really must have Hypnosis, then at least stick a Wide Lens on the pokemon to reduce the miss chance.

With Wide Lens, it only becomes 66%, so it's not that notable.

Hmm ... yeah ... but what about giving slower Hypnosis users like Bronzong Zoom Lens? Because Bronzong will pretty much always be going last, Zoom Lens will boost Hypnosis' accuracy to 72%.

Then again, Hypnosis is pretty much deadweight nowadays anyway.

Why do we need to talk about Hypnosis? Why not sleep moves in general, like Spore, Sleep Powder, and the rarely used Grasswhistle?

Why do we need to talk about Hypnosis? Why not sleep moves in general, like Spore, Sleep Powder, and the rarely used Grasswhistle?

Because Hypnosis is the only one that changed in Platinum. Spore is a much better way of causing sleep, but the fact that very few pokemon learn it means it usually doesn't see much use. I believe the same is true of Sleep Powder, and Sing and Grasswhistle are even worse than the now-nerfed Hypnosis.

Zoom Lens raises Critical Hit chance, not Accuracy.

unless the in-game flavor text is incorrect.

and for sleep, the only three that are really viable in my mind are Breloom, Roserade and Jumpluff. and Smeargle of course.

if i'm forgetting another reliable Sleep Powder user, please correct me.

Alright, these "what is the best x" and / or "what is your favorite y" etc need to stop. They never have led to anything, nor will they ever. All in turns into is mindless PC++ posts such as "I like surskit because it's great." These type of questions are entirely team-dependent so it doesn't make any sense to have discussion about them since it leads virtually no where, as indicated by the posts above me.

Being overly general can be a massive downfall to discussion, but being overly specific can just as easily lead to poor discussion.

To give you an example, recently (approx ~ 2 month ago; but I can't find the thread currently) there was a thread that discussed the implications of the reduction of accuracy in hypnosis. That was worth while because it covered: why certain pokemon do well with Hypnosis where others don't; the use of other sleep moves ; the effects on the metagame ; etc. In essence, that thread was able to cover the artificial stuff that this thread does as well as discussing the larger picture of Hypnosis and sleep-moves in the metagame. Threads with a broader range of discussion almost always end up already covering anything that specific threads like this could cover; while still promoting more intelligent and useful discussion in a broader sense.
