Best Toxic Spike Counters

I have realized that the team I am currently working on revolves around a central strategy. There are few ways to really break it down if I play it right. However, one of these ways is the dreaded Toxic Spikes. I need to add a Pokemon or something that can counter it, whether it be by further Wish support, a grounded Poison-type, a rapid spinner, or some sort of Pokemon -- like Heracross -- to punish the opposing team for even using them, especially considering that most teams that use Toxic Spikes are generally based upon stall. My strategy eats stall for lunch with the sole exception of Toxic Spikes. Even using Heal Bell or Aromatherapy does not cure such horrid spikes. The problem with Rapid Spin support is that most of its users do not really fit into my team. Any ideas to conquer it?

i would suggest either tentacruel or forretress, each can resist/absorb them and blow them away, then set their own

Tentacruel and Foretress are really your best choices. If you plan to do massive switching Tentacruel just for the sake that it actually absorbs it and is not immune to it, while spinning away other crap.

You can also t
ry Roserade for more attacking power too. Or as stated any non levitating poison type

Wish and Heracross does not 'counter' Toxic Spikes. Especially Heracross, as if you don't even ahve Rapid Spin to stop TS, I doubt you'd be gettin rid of Stealth Rock/Spikes, and in conjunction with Sandstorm, you're pretty much dead after 2 switch ins, whether or not you get any attacks off.

Back on topic, it's kind of tough to suggest what helps a team to stop those if no one even knows what are on said team.

You might end up better off with a RMT.......................

Removing spikes has to be Forretress. Absorbing CBCross is best, basically any guts user that is non-flying/non-levitating benefits from Toxic Spikes.

I agree with Aero. People overestimate hera's ability to take advantage of toxic spikes, especially double TS (badly poisoned). With so much passive damage running around (as well as gliscor), if you're counting on a guts user as your main "counter" for TS (especially against a stall team), you're pretty much screwed. :/

Tentacruel removes toxic spikes nicely. I prefer donphan for removing generic spikes or stealth rock, plus it sets up its own.

You could try breloom with poison heal to benefit from toxic spikes. This way, you could give it another item, like focus sash or leftovers for even more recovery. Whats more, breloom uses spore/focus punch to great effect.

Non-levitating poison types are the best. The teams that use TS should have a spin blocker. I personally use Tenta or Venusaur. Tenta is a nice bulky spinner and Venu can switch in a lot due to it's good defences.

Tentacruel is one of the best that removes toxic spikes, and he can RS to get rid of the rest.

Venusaur works as well, Vileplume if you wanna take the risk.

Forretress can get in and Rapid Spin em off. Claydol can do the same since it has Levitate.

Breloom doesn't absorb Toxic Spikes, it just gets Poisoned by them normally. They still remain after Breloom comes in.

If you want something to blow the spikes away, your best off with claydol imo. It avoids toxic spikes, regular spikes, and is non-effective to stealth rock. Plus its good in some other ways. Tentacruel works decent too, spinning them away and laying them. And of course, guts users and breloom benefit from them

5 out of the 6 pokemon on my competitive team are either Flying-type, have Levitate, are steel-types, or are Breloom. An opponent who sets up Toxic Spikes against me has just wasted two turns.

Toxic spikes are an asset even if ALL it did were screw blissey (which of course, isn't the only thing it does). I mean, if there were a move that read:

This move kills blissey. It does not affect any other pokemon.

We would all STILL carry it, wouldn't we? xD

Best Toxic Spike Counter? A poison-type for sure.

Depending on the opponent's team, Roserade can come in and wreak havoc with CSpecs. Nido* can be good with a super-effective set. Tentacruel can come in and stop a lot of special attacks, Drapion can come in and stop a lot of physical attacks not names earthquake.

Noone has mentioned Starmie.. She's good because she's super fast, and she has natural cure to make sure she can simply recover off the dmg after rapid spinning.

Most of the good ones have been mentioned. (Roserade, forretress, etc. etc.)

One that comes to mind that hasn't been mentioned is Drapion. Decent defenses, very nice typing, plants spikes of his own and has good offense and support movesets. I'd think of him as a physical version of Tentacruel that can't spin or is forced to use Knock-off.

Decently versatile, and has the stats where they're needed.

In ubers I just switch in my [insert stallbreaker weapon not named Darkrai because Great Sage uses Fighting Arceus] into the first layer of TS so it does not get destroyed by other statuses.

If you're talking about Toxic Spikes alone, then the answer is really obvious.

What the hell beyond forretress sets up toxic spikes in ubers anyway? Forretress is very good at its job in ubers, but have you actualy seen it use Tspikes? (not asking like your an idiot, Is it actually a thesible idea? I'm curious.)

Doesn't have the Defenses to work. Sorry. Even Maxing HP and evening out both (as I did on my Acupressure tank set) won't keep it out long. Although if you pull it off, Acupressure-Taunt-NightSlash-Brick Break can rip teams apart.

You don't even out defenses >_>

You should focus all your defenses into a single stat. Specialists rule this game. If the opponent sends a pokemon who will attack your weaker defense, bring out your other wall specialist.

Drapion is pretty beefy.

The best absorbers are the poison-grass types, specifically, Venusaur and Roserade. Both of these are pretty awesome pokemon in their own right, so they'll work especially well if you can fit them in!

The first thing that popped into my head was Metagross. That is of course under the assumption that sending out a non-airborn immune Pokemon actually removes the spikes.

Things like Magenton, and Jirachi would work well too, there is a reasonable variety in Pokemon for the job, because Toxic Spikes don't need to be spun (I think, not sure) its not a very specialist role.
