I believe it is a very useful option because sometimes you may want to receive a sound confirmation if someone sends you a private message but you have the showdown in another tab and don't notice the tab turning orange, or even you have the showdown minimized or with another screen maximized watching or playing something, and it would be nice to have an option that enable you to receive a sound for each message sent.
This would be optional, that is, whoever doesn't want this just doesn't enable this option and whoever wants to enable it.
Furthermore, the fact that it is a hybrid, that is, two options, means that we can sometimes choose to use the notification with sound, and sometimes disable it.
