Metagross @ Choice Band
Name: Choice Band (Psychic)
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam / Meteor Mash
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
[SET COMMENTS]
With a Choice Band, Metagross becomes a devastating wallbreaker for Psychic teams thanks to its incredible Attack stat, immunity to Intimidate, and incredible priority move. Heavy Slam makes full use of Metagross's immense weight to deal with threats like Azumarill. Alternatively, Meteor Mash allows Metagross to OKHO heavier targets like Kyurem and Tyranitar along with getting a possible Attack boost at the cost of some accuracy. Bullet Punch provides a solid form of priority to deal with faster targets such as Flutter Mane, Alolan Ninetales, Weavile, and weakened Hoopa-U. Knock Off allows Metagross to force progress against targets that can otherwise handle it like Skarmory and Corviknight by removing crucial held items; it also threatens Ghost-types such as Air Balloon Gholdengo and Sinistcha. Finally, Earthquake hits Steel- and Electric-type threats like Hisuian Goodra, Magnezone, and Raging Bolt. The EV Spread used allows Metagross to outspeed Adamant Azumarill while surviving hits such as Modest +1 Raging Bolt's Thunderbolt.
Choice Specs Latios, when paired with Metagross, forms a devastating wallbreaker core; Latios cleanly removes physical walls such as Skarmory, Corviknight, and Hippowdon, while Metagross can remove threats Latios struggles against such as Hisuian Goodra, Blissey, and Flutter Mane. Deoxys-S provides solid entry hazard stacking capabilities, further increasing Metagross's wallbreaking capabilities. Choice Scarf Iron Boulder provides a solid form of speed control along with dealing with Fire-type threats such as Iron Moth, Volcarona, and Ogerpon-H. Assault Vest Hoopa-U can deal with problematic Ghost-types that handle Metagross like Gholdengo and Hisuian Zoroark with ease. Slowbro supports Metagross by dealing with Fire- and Ground-types like Cinderace, Great Tusk, and Mamoswine along with providing Thunder Wave support, allowing Metagross to outspeed threats such as Heatran and Cinderace. Choice Scarf Latias can support Metagross by dealing with threats such as Gouging Fire and non-Choice Scarf Dragapult and provides Healing Wish support to heal Metagross. Hatterene provides utility in Magic Bounce to prevent entry hazards along with dealing with Dark-type threats such as Sableye, Mandibuzz, and Roaring Moon, which otherwise threaten Metagross. Armarouge deals with Steel-type threats such as Scizor, Archaludon, and Skarmory that handle Metagross.
