[OVERVIEW]
Azumarill is a strong Pokemon despite a mediocre-looking base 50 Attack stat, as with its access to Huge Power, Azumarill becomes a threatening attacker. Thanks to its stellar defensive stats and Water / Fairy typing, Azumarill has plenty of opportunities to set up with Belly Drum and sweep with Aqua Jet, making Azumarill a premier offensive wincon in Doubles OU that can make quick work of teams that are weakened or unprepared for it. Azumarill is let down by its poor Speed, however, though this can be an asset with the use of Trick Room. This makes Azumarill rely on Aqua Jet to KO faster Pokemon, which is not reliable because of Tapu Lele's Psychic Terrain. While Azumarill does have good bulk that allows it to use Belly Drum in a variety of situations, it typically needs support in the form of redirection or Fake Out in order to create a situation in which it can sweep the opposing team. Azumarill is also able to be worn down by Intimidate and burns, which can quickly reduce its ability to threaten a team.

Moves
========
Aqua Jet lets a boosted Azumarill pick off specific threats and break opposing teams without the risk of getting outrun. Knock Off is used to allow Azumarill to hit Pokemon that resist Aqua Jet, such as Amoonguss and Ferrothorn, and those that can possibly survive Aqua Jet, even at +6, such as Celesteela and Aegislash. Play Rough is a nice option to hit prevalent Pokemon that resist Water-type attacks such as Tapu Fini and Tapu Bulu as well as hitting Dragon-types such as Mega Salamence and Zygarde hard even before a Belly Drum boost. Belly Drum turns Azumarill into a sweeper powerful enough to OHKO a large portion of the metagame after just one turn. Protect is essential,(AC) since it lets Azumarill stall out field effects such as sun, Psychic Terrain, and Tailwind.
Set Details
========
Sitrus Berry is used to minimize the cost of using Belly Drum, which means Azumarill has more time to sweep after a boost. Maximum Attack investment with an Adamant nature gives Azumarill the most offensive presence, while maximum HP investment and 4 Defense EVs give Azumarill the best overall bulk. A Brave nature can be worthwhile on a Trick Room-oriented team. If there is Tailwind support on Azumarill's team, 160 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed Mega Metagross under Tailwind.
Usage Tips
========
Due to Azumarill being an all-or-nothing Pokemon with Belly Drum, it is best saved for late-game when your opponent's Pokemon are sufficiently weakened so it can successfully sweep their team. You don't want to use Azumarill that much beforehand, or it'll be too low on HP to use Belly Drum. You should also only use Belly Drum when the biggest threats to Azumarill are removed, most notably Tapu Lele, whose Psychic Terrain makes Aqua Jet mostly useless. Using Fake Out or redirection gives Azumarill a much easier time setting up by incapacitating one of your opponent's Pokemon, since due to Azumarill's good defensive typing and solid bulk, most Pokemon are unable to do enough damage on their own to stop a Belly Drum if Azumarill has full HP. Protect is very useful to help keep Azumarill free from harm when the threat of Belly Drum forces your opponent to target it. Protect also lets Azumarill bait attacks when boosted because its +6 Attack stat is almost always the most immediate threat to the opponent, forcing them to attack or double attack Azumarill.
Team Options
========
The island guardians, with the exception of Tapu Lele, make good partners for Azumarill because they can cancel out the Psychic Terrain that stops Azumarill's Aqua Jet. Tapu Bulu makes for a solid partner for Azumarill by removing troublesome Water-types that would otherwise check Azumarill, while Azumarill can remove Fire-types that threaten Tapu Bulu. Tapu Koko is also a solid partner for Azumarill because it threatens the Water-types that Azumarill can't break easily, and it also appreciates Ground-types being removed by Azumarill. Redirectors such as Amoonguss make setting up Belly Drum much easier by making your opponent target the redirector instead of Azumarill. Fake Out users such as Scrafty also make setting up Belly Drum easier, since Fake Out means Azumarill only has to worry about one of the opponent's Pokemon while setting up; this strategy has a shared weakness with Azumarill in Psychic Terrain, however, since Fake Out fails on grounded targets in Psychic Terrain. Pokemon such as Transform Mew and Psych Up Metagross can copy and utilize the +6 Attack boost from Azumarill's Belly Drum. Mega Gengar's Shadow Tag can trap foes that are setup bait for Azumarill while also taking on potential checks such as Tapu Lele and Shaymin-S. If Azumarill is running Knock Off instead of Play Rough, it's crucial that it is partnered with a Pokemon that can deal with Tapu Fini and Tapu Bulu, such as Mega Gengar or Amoonguss.

Other Options
=============
Normalium Z allows Azumarill to use Belly Drum even after its HP drops below 50%, but it comes at the cost of Sitrus Berry's HP boost after Azumarill uses Belly Drum.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Psychic Terrain**: Psychic Terrain gives Azumarill a much harder time sweeping by nullifying its main attacking move in Aqua Jet and making Fake Out less effective in aiding Azumarill's setup.
**Opposing Weather**: Sun makes Azumarill much less effective, as it halves the damage of Aqua Jet and can force Azumarill to attack with one of its secondary moves, leaving it vulnerable to faster Pokemon.
**Grass-types**: Reasonably bulky Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tapu Bulu and resist Azumarill's primary STAB attack while inflicting heavy damage to Azumarill in return.
**Intimidate and Burns**: Intimidate users are annoying to Azumarill before a Belly Drum boost, since -1 Azumarill isn't threatening. After a Belly Drum boost, +5 Azumarill is still very threatening, but it can miss out on some KOs on bulky threats such as Ferrothorn, Alolan Muk, and some Mega Charizard-Y that +6 Azumarill can achieve. Burns halve Azumarill's Attack outright, which Azumarill hates. Pokemon such as Gengar and Rotom-W threaten to burn Azumarill with Will-O-Wisp, while users of Scald and Steam Eruption such as Politoed and Volcanion can also threaten to burn Azumarill.
**Electric-types**: Pokemon such as Tapu Koko and Zapdos threaten Azumarill before it can set up a Belly Drum with powerful Electric-type moves, and some Zapdos sets have enough Defense investment to survive a boosted Aqua Jet.
**Poison-types**: Pokemon such as Mega Gengar and Alolan Muk can threaten to KO Azumarill before it can set up Belly Drum, with Mega Gengar being especially dangerous because it prevents Azumarill from switching out.
**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Mega Salamence, Mega Metagross, and Kyurem-B are able to outspeed and do enough damage to Azumarill to either prevent it from using Belly Drum or KO it outright.
**Tapu Fini**: Tapu Fini resists Aqua Jet, completely shuts down Azumarill sets that lack Play Rough, and can fire back with Moonblast, KOing Azumarill after a bit of prior damage.
