SS OU Azumarill HO (peak 1600 and climbing)

Sooo I'm back with the belly drum Azumarill Hyper Offence team with a few adjustments that have led to me having more success. I just wanted to share the new team and see if anyone has suggestions I want to keep the identity of the team but am open to anything really. Currently just hit a career-high of 1600 so I decided to stop and post and then keep climbing.

The idea behind this team is to enable Azumarill as best possible without taking pressure off of the opponent to deny any setup of hazards, screens, or boost moves. To be able to do this I started off with a super underrated mon in Lycanroc. This guy for a leadoff hits the perfect speed tier to taunt pretty much any other leadoff and sniff out any scarfs on the other team specifically scarf Lando-T. As tempting as it can be it is important to deny hazards before going for damage with the small exception of 2 KOs with accelerock. Lycanroc is going to be a suicide lead with the exception being if the other team has a Tornadus/Landorus Therian or Volcorona in that case then you want swap Lyc out if you can.

Good Boi (Lycanroc-Dusk) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Accelerock
- Counter
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Azumarill is next and as the rock of this team, its job is revenge killer with Aqua Jet and to get off a belly drum late game and sweep. This thing murders any slower tanks except for Melmetal with either Knock Off or Play Rough depending on type match and kills all faster offensive threats with Aqua Jet.

Pika Pika (Azumarill) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

Azumarill is really only threatened by a few mons Melmetal, Kyuerem, Rilla, Tapu Lele (because of its Aqua Jet denial), and Dragapilt (sometimes). So I needed to find counters to these mons and the first that came to mind to do well was Kartana which at first I was using an LO variant but I was getting outsped too much so I decided to switch to a Scarfed variant.

Paper Cut (Kartana) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Smart Strike
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
- Sacred Sword

With the addition of Kart I still have a weakness to Rilla and no good counters to electric types so I decided to add Mamoswine a deadly late game cleanup with a 500+ attack stat after choice and band priority with Ice Shard.

Manny (Mamoswine) @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

At this point, my team needs some special coverage something that can kill fighting types sure I have Azumarill but I don't want to give up health on him if I don't need to so I decided to add a little RNG to my team in Galarian-Slowbro this thing is a menace with the quick claw/draw gimmick and with the exception to knock offs from kart or weavile this thing can live at least one shot from almost anybody and fire a shot off if he doesn't get the priority.

Menace to Society (Slowbro-Galar) @ Quick Claw
Ability: Quick Draw
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Sludge Wave
- Surf
- Flamethrower

The final touch for this team is a special wallbreaker and pivot in Zapdos. I could run defog but if I play the early game correctly it shouldn't be till late game the enemy team can set up hazards instead I decide to go for coverage to allow me to kill things like Ferro also surprisingly I find myself switching into Lando-T and using Hurricane to kill it in 2 shots when it goes to defog/stealth rock in the late game.

Killua (Zapdos) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Hurricane
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt

The hardest matchup for this team are rain teams its definitely possible to win against them but it's very tricky and if it isn't played correctly and can turn into a roll very quickly.

Hey man, I love Lynaroc but I was wondering - How have you been using Counter? I have been trying to fit him into a number of teams and to be honest, he just seems to get slapped around alot despite his speed!

He's my lead for this team so I'll send him in and if they send in a hazards setter I click taunt and then counter even if it's Ferro the trade is too nice not to take if it's an offensive threat i.e. dragapult I setup rocks and then accelerock till they kill me. You won't always get that to work sometimes they just click EQ instead of rocks and at that point you just have to get your own rocks and let him die.

If I get a match with what's supposed to happen I'll post the replay here.

Good job with the team. It works great, has a funny gimmick in slowbro, and does well against the current meta. Very well built.

for zapdos, it is advisable to play it with roost even with this kind of set, remove volt switch or thunder bolt, or otherwise remove hurricane, for the rest your team is fine
