[OVERVIEW]
After Gen. 7 was released, Psychic suffered many losses in the form of every single one of its megas that were permitted within the Meta. While Mega Metagross and Mega Alakazam are still available for use, Mega Alakazam plays a very minimal role in the Monotype meta, and Mega Metagross may not have very much time until it is banned from Monotype once again. Physical offense is something not very plentiful within the psychic type. All those Psychic Pokemon who /do/ possess strong physical attacking prowess are completely demolished by Ghost types. The introduction of a Pokemon who can hit hard physically, and bounce all over Psychic's weaknesses is something that would make up for the lack of Megas and Physical 'mons within the type. Assault Vest Relic Song Meloetta fills that role perfectly; sponging up Ghost attacks, demolishing Dark types, and sweeping a huge chunk of the monotype metagame away.

Moves
========
Relic Song, being the given of the set, is what is used to change Meloetta into its Pirouette form. When paired with Serene Grace, this move is also a wonderful means of dooming your foe to sleep, which can be used effectively to get rid of hazard damage from Stealth Rock or Spikes by using Drain Punch, or hazard status, like Toxic Spikes by swapping into a teammate with Heal Bell or Aromatherapy. Drain Punch is Meloetta's primary means of recovery, and hits the Dark types that the rest of it's team would have difficulty with. As an alternative to Drain Punch, Power-Up Punch can be run instead, making Meloetta more of an attacking monster as time goes on, and making U-Turn more powerful in the event that it is needed. Fire Punch is used to deal with the hazardous brute that is Scizor, and many other Steel types. Zen Headbutt can be used for flinch abuse through Meloetta's Serene Grace and for added coverage against Fighting and Poison types. Stone Edge is really used to hit Volcorona, who Psychic teams tend to struggle with, and any other Bug that wants to try to get in Meloetta's way. Return is Meloetta's most powerful STAB attack, at a BP of 153 after STAB is applied, and is used to torment most every 'mon, however, it isn't the best move in the face of a Ghost-type. Shadow Claw fixes this problem, at the price of weaker BP, and little coverage against dual Normal-Flying types, like Staraptor, and, on some occasions, Braviary. U-Turn is what Meloetta primarily uses to pivot between 'mons it has a hard time transforming on, or that it can't hit exceptionally hard.

========
Meloetta-P is an underappreciated 'mon, mostly for the fact that it is frequently cornered by Ghost-type Pokemon and it takes up a turn to transform into the speedy Pokemon that it is, and the fact that it becomes its Aria form once more after switching out of battle. However, once it does transform into its Pirouette form, it can hit extremely hard, 4HKO'ing Skarmory, 3HKO'ing Defensive Torkoal, Specially Defensive Mandibuzz, and Toxapex, 2HKO'ing a very large amount of bulky 'mons, like Bulky Mega Charizard X, Shuckle, and potentially Toxapex, and 1HKO'ing a slur of other Pokemon,
252+ Atk Meloetta-P Fire Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 102-122 (30.5 - 36.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Meloetta-P Drain Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Shuckle: 102-121 (80.3 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Meloetta-P Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Torkoal: 136-162 (39.6 - 47.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Meloetta-P Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 180 Def Toxapex: 118-140 (38.8 - 46%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Meloetta-P Return vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Mandibuzz: 174-205 (41.3 - 48.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Meloetta-P Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 100+ Def Charizard-Mega-X: 180-214 (50.1 - 59.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
