SS OU AV goodra with wish support

hey guys, just wanted to share one of my favorite teams that I've made. its been successful so far reaching me new heights, even though I love this team I must say its not the best but its not the worst either, I think I can make it better with some help. I´ll be keeping calcs down below to further explain what my team counter and what it doesn't. (English isn't my strongest language Im sorry if i make any errors)

Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 200 HP / 252 SpA / 56 Spe
Modest Nature
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
- Draco Meteor
- Rock Slide

let me start with saying I love goodra, goodra has helped me through so many games, where i was made really bad plays but still won. it also has the best match-up against sun teams; being able to single handily counter against sun staples such as charizard, hatterene and venusaur isn't something to sneeze at, it also can counter every volcarona, ammongus, gengar, toxtricity, tangrowth and ferrothorn. it can check a lot of things such as every dragon type even with specs in OU (if clefable goes down) other then physical dragapult and physical kommo-o and kuyrem draco meteor is a role thats highly in your favor. it can also check magnezone, adamant crawdunt, ditto, and lastly physically defensive clefabe (it 2ohkoes but it forces the oppenent out as moonblast from clefable is a 4 ohko) this pokemon can get a lot of surprise ohkoes with its massive move pool both physical and special. unfortunatley the good things end there, for starters goodra physical defenese is awful, and you need wish support for goodra since it needs a way to heal up. and lastly the biggest point is that it really is vulnerable to knock off or trick since after that it wont be able to counter the pokemon it originally checked.

234.png

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 44 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect
- Teleport

clefables mainly here to deal with urshifu and to wish support to its teammate. clefable and goodra go well together since they mostly counter their counter parts, such as magnezone and urshifu being an example. Nothing much to say its a standered set thats able to live a life orb wicked blow + iron head/poison jab combo. It with toxapex can counter band urshifu, it can also counter hawlucha since it gets 3 ohkoed by it. but its mainly here to heal up its team mates, overall a great pokemon for the team.

812-0.png
220.png

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- U-turn

rillaboom band the orignal threat is still amazing its the power house of the teams and helps deal with a lot of pokemon such as clefable, crawdunt, primarina, tyranitar, excadrill and hippowdown. and can get momentum for the team with u turn and with its priority move it can be really destructive in late game with spamming grassy glide and sealing the game away. it also helps form a nice duo with zerora as they have really good synergy and can both get momentum with volt/turn problem with this rillaboom choice banned is sometimes u needs to hard predict what your opponents gonna do since u cant just uturn out after getting some chip damage
807-0.png

Zeraora @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Volt Switch

zeraora is the fastest pokemon in gen8 ou without a scarf, it makes it a nice check to dragapult; after taking chip damage. it also helps against the flying types such as mandibuzz, corvi and skarmory which rillabooms struggles with, it ideally forms a unit with rillaboom being able to switch around and get momentum it can counter the pink blob as well with close combat and with heavy duty boots it doesnt need to worry about hazards if corvi fails to remove them and it doesnt allow many switches since it can volt around without many counter play to it sure u can have excadrill to stop the volt but if it predicts that and goes for close combat you wont be in the best positions and same with hippo with grass knot especially since its with rillaboom so many players assume its grass knot which u can play with that.
823-0.png
295.png

Corviknight @ Shed Shell
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 200 Def / 60 SpD
Careful Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Body Press
- Brave Bird

my defoger and my rillaboom semi answer it forms well with zearora if magnezone want to come in i basically get free health on my zeraora which is always nice it can get surprise ohkoes on volcarona since fiery dance and flamethrower do not ohko but fire blast does and overall just to keep hazards away from my team members its also my answer to excadrill and to potentinally pp stall a move or all of your opponents moves and make u win the game such as pp stalling toxapex to win the game overall a good check to some of the most popular pokemon this meta

748-0.png
281.png

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 180 Def / 80 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Scald
- Recover
- Haze

toxapex is another important member to counter urshifu since if its band it can pivot in with not to many thing to worry about its also nice for getting burn on scizor and many other threats that it can sit on i did run haze instead of knock off because i feel like its necessity for toxapex to have haze so things cant demolish ur team such as stopping scizor and gengar and primarina also stopping hawlucha from getting too scary is nice overall a pokemon that can break top threats with toxic and stall them out it can also be able to stall rain turns which is nice and counter most sand teams since most sand teams have physical attacker and while they do have earthquake they cant ohko you

toxapex is here but i think i can make it something better since its only role on the team is to form a core with clefable to beat urshifu and be an answer to scizor that dont have sand tomb and deal with physical aeigslash and be annoying id love to know what u guys think would be more more suiting pokemon on this team

the most threating pokemon to this team

firstly kuyrem i dont have any reliable answer to choice specs kuyrem since even corv cant wall it decently and diffidently the biggest threat to the team
crawdunt is also a good pokemon against this team if it switch in on the defensive cores ill have to somehow pivot into rillaboom which isnt the best way to counter a pokemon
rotom heat is also a threat since my only answer to it is goodra and goodra can lose against the pain split set or trick so thats not the best

the highest ive reached with this team is 1700, but Ive been hard dropping recently and would very much appreciate some tips!

i changed my team with the tips that i got and here is a replay because why not

Hey, I'm here to rate your team

First off I just wanna say I really appreciate the effort you put into this RMT. You provided a lot of insight to your thought process, as well as including a bunch of calcs, so good job on that front. The team has decent synergy, but the first thing that sticks out is Goodra. As fun as Goodra is to use, in OU its just outclassed in whatever role it tries to fill. As a Special Attacker you're better off using Dragapult, and as a Special Wall, you're better off using something like Blissey or Tyranitar. I also noticed your team also lacks entry hazards. Despite Heavy-Duty Boots being very popular, Stealth Rock is still one of the best moves in the entire game, and should be included on pretty much every competitive team. So my first suggestion would be to replace Goodra with SpDef Tyranitar. Not only does Tyranitar take on Pokemon you mentioned such as Volcarona and Charizard, it also provides Stealth Rock support for your team, and shares decent synergy with the rest of your team.

The second thing that stands out to me personally is a lack of gameplan. I'm not exactly sure what the team is trying to achieve, but overall I think it leans more towards a defensive team, which is by no means bad, it just makes me question the inclusion of Rillaboom and Zeraora. These are by no means bad Pokemon, but its always a good idea to ask yourself "what is my gameplan and how do these Pokemon help me achieve that". I think
replacing Rillaboom with Tangrowth would benefit your team, as I feel this team suits a more defensive approach.

There are some other changes that might be worth looking into, but hopefully this helps you both in your games, and in your thought process when building teams. If you take anything away from this advice, its that you should always have a gameplan, and the team will naturally fill itself. Hope this helped, feel free to ask me any questions :toast:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

- Thunder Wave

Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet

first of all thanks for the tips! I switched goodra for tyranitar it definitely helped me with crucial rock chip. but made me weaker to ammongus since it can spore freely and tangrowth cant really do much against it and venusaur while not as common anymore i defiantly struggled against and lastly toxtricity which I really struggled beating while twave is an amazing i decided to change it to eq because i lost to a lot of toxtricity and didnt know how to beat it. but overall it has helped through more matches then my previous pokemon did. Thank you!

ok so I did reach to where I was at in the ladder but I cant really find a way to beat toxtricity reliably really struggled against that pokemon and idk how to deal with it. I usually have to play around it if its LO by constantly switching between tyrantar and tangrowth so if you could help me with this problem id appreciate it.
