Hello and welcome to my first RMT of the generation. I've never been one to use conventional mons, and today I've got some aurorus hail to share with y'all. This may be a bit more concise than my past teams due to time constraint, so without further ado let's get right into:

Teambuilding Process
Aurorus is my favorite mon ever. Like, all time. I wanted to try and find some use for it in ou. Sadly, it seemed to be outclassed by basically every single hail setter in existence. For the longest time, I gave up assuming aurorus would never have any use. But then I realized that I was looking at it all wrong. While aurorus may be a mediocre weather setter, it does have a niche as a weather setter for an arctozolt HO team. As opposed to landorus, for example, who simply sets up rocks and dies, aurorus sets up rocks and hail and then dies.

And the rest of the team I pulled from my ass basically

Team Members

Aurorus @ Focus Sash
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Blizzard
- Earth Power
- Dragon Tail
Lead off, get up hail, get up rocks, chunk things with blizzard. It hits surprisingly hard and, most importantly, keeps defoggers off of the field. Earth power one shots unsuspecting magnezone and heatran leads. Dragon tail phases out setup sweepers, spreads around rock damage, even blocks trick room. Usually aurorus can apply enough pressure to the point where your opponent has to kill it and let you bring in arctozolt in hail. Against melmetal you might consider leading urshifu instead.

ninetales-alola.gif

Ninetales-Alola @ Icy Rock
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Hail
- Hypnosis
Sets hail for arctozolt, spams hail, is semi-fast with freeze-dry. For the most part, it just sets hail. Setting aurora veil is usually not worth losing the momentum gained from switching back out, although an exception would be setting up for a late game sweep with celesteela. I might even consider running grudge over veil after seeing mimikyu stardust's sick rmt. Can also chunk dragapult and urshifu if needed.

arctozolt.gif

Arctozolt @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 20 SpA / 236 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Blizzard
- Low Kick
- Freeze-Dry
Make things disappear. He forces an ungodly amount of 50/50's, just play it safe with him and slowly wittle down their ferrothorn so you can clean up later on. Low kick is good damage against the steels, although blizzawrd is usually the preferred option against ferro so not to take too much contact damage. +Atk nature helps secure a good amount of kills, with the downside being that dragapult outspeeds you. That only comes to be an issue in the lategame though, as it will usually switch out anyway and from full hp you'll tank a specs shadow ball or unboosted dragon darts. Sadly, I have long since forgotten what the evs do.
blaziken-f.gif

Blaziken @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- Thunder Punch
Complementary breaker to arctozolt. Plop him in on whatever steels dracozolt doesn't like and smash things. You can either play blaziken as an early game breaker with swords dance or a late game speed boost cleaner. Usually not both though because he dies in like 3 turns.

urshifu-rapidstrike.gif

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Protective Pads
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet
- U-turn
Somewhat of an offensive pivot. Comes in on weavile, heatran and some others. Protective pads let you spam surging strikes and u-turn with utter impunity. Aqua jet combined with hail can be essential to whittling down fast offensive sweepers.

celesteela.gif

Celesteela @ Power Herb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 88 HP / 196 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Meteor Beam
- Autotomize
After your offensive power is exhausted, celesteela comes in and cleans up. The ev's help it better check kartana (eat a +2 non-lo sacred sword). Air slash cheese is always a good last resort plan.

Aurorus @ Focus Sash
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Blizzard
- Earth Power
- Dragon Tail

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Protective Pads

Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Meteor Beam
- Autotomize

ban dragapult and lele

Conclusion
Good to see hail is finally gaining traction this generation. Had a ton of fun playing this team around high ladder then tilting back to hell. I've only been back at it for a couple months but so far gen 8 has been pretty fun - hopefully I'll peak with an even worse team sometime soon. Although currently grinding elo has really burned me out. Anyhow, enjoy the team and get hyped for gen 9!

I like how you show the back models, that’s kinda cool. Also Aurorus is a very respectable choice of favorite mon. It has my favorite design of anything in the game.

I think you have the right idea in replacing Aurora Veil. In my experience Veil without Light Clay just doesn’t feel good, and Grudge is a slick way of really neutering some threats.
