Also, while the usage stats don't really reflect what's really good in the metagame, it does reflect the ladder really well. So, it's not like PS is just making up these stats out of nowhere, the stats actually show what people are using, at least from what I've seen laddering the past week or so.

That said, I am surprised at how low Gothitelle is. I told SV this, and I think it's true. imo it suffers from Wobba syndrome: everyone's in the opinion that it's a "cheap" mon to use and therefore won't use it on the ladder. Which coincidentally makes it hard to determine if she's broken or not.

Also, Escavalier at #33 makes me absolutely sick. Escavalier is ridiculously bulky, checks a good deal of common threats, and hits like a truck. Escavalier in conjunction with Thunder Wave speedy Uxie is one of the HARDEST things for offensive teams to handle, as once their Fire-type gets paralyzed, Escavalier can just 2HKO on the switch. Honestly, I get that the 4x Fire-type weakness is a bit hard to stomach at first, but its excellent defenses allow it to survive random Hidden Power [Fire]'s anyway, and Entei / Moltres / other Fire-types get slammed by CB Return and are Stealth Rock weak. Ffs, DUSKNOIR GETS MORE USAGE THAN ESCAV.

Smeargle at #31 is equally depressing, as is Lilligant at 22.

Good thing we made the real top 10 list, because honestly these usage stats are awful. Is there any way we can get a 1700+ list or something?

These are pretty weird. You would think that with a ton of more good players on the ladder, the stats would change. I saw way less Cofagrigus this month than I did last month, no idea why it's still #1. Smeargle being #31, Manectric being #37, Crawdaunt #40, Absol #55, and Tauros #76 is just crazy imo. All of these Pokemon deserve a lot more usage. Anyways I don't think that these stats are any better than last month's.

DittoCrow pretty much summed up my opinions. Manectric is one of my favourite pokes to use at the moment-the Expert Belt set has great coverage and surprising power(at least enough to break through common defensive cores), and a great speed stat. The Scarf set is one of the best revenge killers in the tier as well-outspeeding Omastar after a Shell Smash is incredibly useful. Agreeing with August about Escavalier as well. He obliterates everything apart from Steelix and Poliwrath with his Megahorn, and I can't even begin to imagine him with paralysis support.

Well it's not too much of a surprise that cofagrigus is #1 with it being such a great pokemon in RU but things like Kabutops and Nidoqueen derserve to be at #1 because of how the define the tier.

Oh god how wrong can one poster be... You had a lot wrong in your post but this tops it, poison offense is only seen on nidoqueen, roselia, and drapion (barely used on drap) in RU there is no reason to say this is why not to use Rotom-C. Also by your logic having a weakness means you should not be using the pokemon, I guess the only viable pokemon in RU are spiritomb and eelectross. Don't forget Rotom-C does get job of checking or harrasing all of the top 10 with trick, leafstorm or volt switch. Rotom-C is a great pokemon in RU with lower usage than it should have, research and learn before you make some ridiculous comments.

Just what I've noticed thus far about the stats (early in the morning, so I'll probably have to edit this with other stuff I notice when I'm more awake)

Cofagrigus just isn't even the best Ghost type in this tier. It's actually a bit better in UU where they lack bulky Ghosts (Dusclops is terrible up there) Won't be surprised to see this thing leave the tier next month. As Molk said, it'll be well deserved.

Slowking above Lanturn.... Don't think I need to say anything here as everyone here should know my feelings about these 2. Lanturn does a better job in general of taking the special attackers in this tier right now, especially Moltres. It even forces Nidoqueen to use Earth Power or risk taking a massive hit, thus making it easier to predict. Cleric, paralysis, and status absorbing support (not all in one set obviously) are also great things. Slowking isn't bad, but it shouldn't be above Lanturn imo.

STOP USING SANDSLASH. Gawd, Cryo's better than Sandslash. smh.

Druddigon creeping into the top 20 is cool. The lack of defensive Steel types really helps its offensive endeavors while Glare is a cool move that paralyzes anything it touches, no questions asked. Good set of resistances for a defensive set as well. Great mon in general.

Seriously, how the heck is Rotom-C down at #30? I'll admit, I don't use it since it usually just doesn't fit into my teams (love Sceptile too much) but it's a really solid mon right now. Needs to get used more.

The unloved that should be loved: Escavalier, Mesprit, Absol, Manectric, Poliwrath, Zangoose, Crawdaunt, and Rotom.

Roselia and Qwilfish dropping shows just how bad defensive Spikers are with Goth around. Goth may not be used much, but just the threat of it turns people away from otherwise decent Spikers.

One last thing. Electivire used more than Manectric? What is this sh*t??!!?

@Bigblue: That comment was made before Rotom C became fashionable and I have to think twice about it now. I saw 3 in one day recently. I'm not saying Rotom C is bad either, I've used it in RU (it might have actually been OU or 4G UU, I've forgotten) to great effect.

@EonX: Since when did Moltres suddenly become so good? I agree, there's something that has made it better, I think it's Hurricane but I'm not sure. It used to be walled by Entei and now Moltres 1HKO's it (if Entei has Life Orb). Before I used to just think "oh, moltres, better switch in entei" and now I think "damn Moltres, it'll probably 6-0 me"

Escavalier is not "unloved", I've seen it quite often and it's gaining in popularity. As for Druddigon, well... Only true Dragon in the tier and all that. The combination of typing and ability makes it pretty fearsome: most special attacks are weak against Dragon, most physical attacks (with the notable exception of Earthquake) are contact moves, contact moves on Druddigon hurt the user.

And I haven't actually seen Sandslash recently, it's definitely not as big as it used to be.

Agreed with you about Lanturn and Slowking. What with Moltres suddenly becoming an absolute terror and all, it's pretty hard for me as I don't personally use Lanturn (for some reason I never seem to use water types correctly) and 4 team members are weak to Flying. Slowking, on the other hand, is incredibly weak to opposing defensive Pokemon. Even Entei can make a dent on it with Toxic.

And finally, Electivire and Manectric are different Pokemon and should not be considered together. Just because they are Electric types with a secondary Fire doesn't mean they play in the same way. One's a bulky physical attacker, the other's a frail but immensely powerful special attacker: sort of another Moltres really, minus the Earthquake immunity.

Entei has actually never walled Moltres, considering Air Slash 2HKOs it regardless of Stealth Rock, and Entei's priority CB Extreme Speed will not KO Moltres after 2 Life Orb recoils.

Druddigon is also not the only "true dragon" in the tier. In my personal opinion, Fraxure is far more threatening than Druddigon thanks to Dragon Dance. It also tops out at 361 Attack with an Adamant nature, and can handily beat Steelix without resorting to using Flamethrower. I fail to see how Fraxure is not a "true dragon". Also, any offensive Druddigon set probably shouldn't even be using Rough Skin, as Sheer Force boosted Fire Punch is excellent on the Physical Life Orb Stealth Rock set.

Regardless of whether or not you see Escavalier on ladder, it still does not get enough usage overall, as opposed to what it should get. Escavalier has excellent defenses, only 1 weakness, 405 Attack and 2 solid STAB attacks. It is also arguably the most difficult pokemon for offensive teams to switch into (alongside probably Rotom-c and LO Kabutops), and its bulk allows it to be a makeshift check to anything not strong enough to flat out OHKO it (because Swarm boosted Megahorn will fuck them up)

Aaaaaand we'll be keeping all of our Spikers thank you very much. Roselia is a great Spiker that won't drop now, and Ferroseed will continue to be one of the top defensive Spikers as well. Scolipede was never really that good since Smeargle and sometimes Accelgor are the only used offensive hazard setters. Can't really comment on the rest of the stats since I haven't played too much this month, but PS is still producing awful stats. Hopefully Absol will still make it up to RU, and Golurk deserves to be RU as well because of its amazing tank set.

Ignoring the comment above your question, people dont use fraxure because, if you havent noticed this yourself yet. The PS ladder is a joke, there are a lot of things like fraxure who are amazing (toxic boost zangoose, for example) and should honestly have RU status, but people just pass them over simply because their tier says NU and not RU. Meanwhile people are using shit like sandslash and evire over things like linoone, zangoose, fraxure, and absol.

Fraxure is also good because it pulls off dragon dance very well, better than anything else in the tier bar maybe Crawdaunt. It has just enough speed to beat sceptile and swellow at +1 with a jolly nature, and with eviolite and a great typing in mono Dragon fraxure doesnt find it that hard to set up. Taunt allows fraxure to even get extra boosts off of things like lilligant and uxie that might try to cripple it with status or steelix, who may want to phaze him out. People also often forget that fraxure has 117 base attack. That is not just over the top for a NFE, its also among the highest attack stats known to the RU tier. Counting all the pokemon who are usable in RU, Fraxure ranks #20 in sheer attack power. Fraxure also got many coverage moves in B2W2, making it significantly better than in BW1 (it was good back then too, js).

TL;DR Fraxure is a strong and ladder sucks

I still view Gothitelle as a better Shadow Tagger than Chandelure, even though both of them are heinously slow even by UU standards. Gothitelle can still do something useful without being completely Choice-locked, due to having Trick. It's also a bit alarming that people aren't using Whimsicott in tandem with Gothitelle for Memento and Tickle shenanigans.

Let this thing fall, and let it fall hard. Seriously. If you want to encourage Molk with something staying promoted, why don't we keep Mew in OU or something inherently more worthwhile? Keeping dead weight in a tier with other dead weight is just absurd. I don't even care that this whole Metang thing is a joke anymore; it used to be funny, but RU is one of the most broken tiers imo and the reason I find it broken is because too many things in the tier end up being deadweight in the long haul (Munchlax and Sandslash are bad examples of Pokemon in RU, and they're higher in RU than Metang and just as unhelpful).

I will readily trade having Musharna in RU over having Metang, since the former is just as hard to kill as the latter. Musharna trades doing nothing for being bulky offense, which is what RU is mostly centralized around anyway. Musharna's also a reliable check to Nidoqueen, which is something RU needs and needs desperately.

If one is to require my aid in helping these RU stats, I will also be trying to keep Abomasnow in OU.

I think the stats are "awful" because RU has a comparatively small player base when compared to OU or UU. OU and UU both have very weird stats because of the huge amount of bad players skewing the usage stats, however because RU has a smaller player base, which is mostly made up of good players, and low amount of battles you would expect the stats to represent that, but they don't. For example, sandslash who is widely regarded as a pretty bad spinner is being used more than every single other spinner, all of whom have far more variety. Also Zangoose is very low despite being a terrifying physical attacker.
To sum it up these stats are bad because good pokemon are lower in the usage charts despite the fact that allot of RU players are knowledgeable about the metagame.

Having rocks and spinning on the same 'mon makes room for more useful shenanigans. It's why Claydol was popular (and now it's even more popular, in UU), it's why Forretress and Donphan are OU, and now it's why Sandslash gets a lot of use despite being set up fodder for a lot of stuff. So when people use Sandslash, they never (or at least shouldn't ever) use it solely for spinning or rocks becase that would be a waste.

Sandslash can't spin against any of the spin blockers of the tier. Claydol sucks in UU as well. They can't spin at all, which is why Kabutops and Blastoise in their respective tiers are far superior.

A spinner should always be able to spin successfully first and foremost. Pokemon like Moltres, Entei, and Archeops MUST have the spinner on their team pull off a spin successfully in most battles to perform to their maximum potential. Moltres is 4x weak to SR, Entei already takes lots of recoil damage from abusing Flare Blitz, and Archeops is just a shadow of its former self once its below 50%. Spin SR away, and these top threats become harder to handle. That's why people prefer Kabutops as not only can it spin away hazards, it doesn't rely on team support to get rid of Ghosts whereas Sandslash must rely on team support to get rid of Ghosts. After an SD, it breaks every Ghost type in this tier. Slower Ghosts are wrecked by Stone Edge and Rotom-N is OHKOed by +2 LO Aqua Jet after SR. Once the Ghost is gone, it usually spins and sacrifices itself doing so, but it will have done its job successfully. Even Cryogonal can beat most Ghost types one-on-one. It may struggle against Spiritomb, but it handles every other Ghost type just fine. Tops and Cryo are just more efficient at spinning than Sandslash is as they generally don't need as much team support for getting rid of Ghost types as they can beat them on their own.

EonX: You're right about spinners, but you almost need Hitmonlee in particular, as it is the only spinner that also knows Foresight, and therefore beats every team without two ghosts - seeing as there are only two viable ghosts (Cofagrigus and Spiritomb) in the tier, that is very rare outside of Trick Room. I switched Hitmonlee for Cryogonal recently and am feeling the Spiritomb-induced pain.
