Attack type combination

Basically I wanted to put together a list of the best combinations of attack types in terms of type coverage in order to help pick movesets for Pokemon with deep movepools.

Obviously things like Boltbeam, Normal+Water, Normal+Fight, Dragon+Ground are considered for most purposes neutral against most things.

However beyond that what type combos are useful? Also beyond having combos that are only just neutral against anything, are there any combos that hit SE against several types?

I tried making a list of types and while I ended up with the ones I knew were right like Electric+Ice, my list seemed way to long and had things like Dark + Electric popping up, so I figured I must be doing something wrong.

Fighting/Dark is always good. Same with Rock/Ground. Fighting/Flying hits everything but Rotom and Zapdos at least neutral IIRC.

So basicially any two types that aren't resisted by any single type work together well, with the obvious problem being steels huge number of resists?

grass/rock is resisted only by bronzong/metagross, pure steels, toxicroak, so that seems to be decent.

Fighting/Rock is only resisted by Claydol, Toxicroak(strange how he keeps popping up), psychic/fighting types. On a similar note, Fighting/Bug/Rock is only resisted by Toxicroak, which seems to be why a lot of teams have heraweak.

The best type combination in existence is Fighting + Ghost, which hits everything (yes, everything) for neutral at least.

Ice + Ground is the best type combination that hits the most supereffective iirc, and is only NVE against lol Surskit.

EDIT:

Fighting/Bug/Rock is only resisted by Toxicroak, which seems to be why a lot of teams have heraweak.

Nidoqueen and Nidoking also resist Fighting/Bug/Rock.

I know Ghost+Electric hits everything neutral except for Magnezone and Steelix in Standard, Dialga in Ubers, and Cacturne/Shiftry in UU

Wouldn't a list of all the attacks combos and what they hit super-effective/neutral be abit more organized and maybe quicker than randomly calling out attacks combo(though some of them are pretty well known)?

Fire/Fighting= Resisted only by Slowbro, Stamie, Lati twin, and few other pokey I'm forgetting.

On this post, I will make a list of all the previous attack combinations that hit neutral or super-effective to most types, and the ones that resist them as they are mentioned. Quote this and I will fucking cut you.

NOTE: THESE ARE ONLY THE ONES MENTIONED ON THIS FORUM SO FAR.

Key: UU OU Uber

Not Resisted:

Ice / Electric
Normal / Water
Normal / Fighting
Dragon / Ground
Fighting / Ghost
Rock / Ground
Rock / Grass

Rock/ground and dragon/ground are both resisted by bronzong with levitate and ghosts are totally immune to normal/fighting without foresight (who the hell would have foresight?) Furthermore, Rock/Ground is resisted by claydol and flygon.

the only nothing so far...

rock/ground=
bronzong, breloom

rock/grass=
breloom, steel types.

eh, your not resisted list is not very accurate.

PS, there are more resistances, these are just off the top of my head

I like how Toxicroak resists all of Heracross' standard moves. (Night Slash/Pursuit/Stone Edge/Megahorn)
Ice + Ground is the best type combination that hits the most supereffective iirc, and is only NVE against lol Surskit.
Bronzong is immune to Ground and Ice is NVE against it. Water and Rock is a pretty decent typing, with only Empoleon being able to hold it off.

Theres too much wrong and missing with that list...

As mentioned all of the flying dragons resist fire/fighting along with Charizard, Mantine, Gyarados, Slowking, Pelliper.

Fighting/Dark is resisted by Heracross.

The day ROTOM is a OU will be the day Kyogre becomes the crappiest pokemon in the game.

Bronzong is the most obvious Ice/Ground resist and yet its dissappeared...

Ice/Electric is stopped dead in its tracks by Lanturn and Magnezone.

Normal/Water is stopped by Empolean.

Normal/Fighting is stopped by any Ghost.

Dragon/Ground is stopped dead by Bronzong again.

Rock/Ground is stopped by Claydol, Flygon, Breloom, Bronzong, Torterra.

Rock/Grass is stopped by Breloom and anything Steel.

Poliwrath and Water Absorb Quagsire fend off Water/Rock as well and, durrr, Breloom again. Add Torterra to the Rock/Ground resistor list.

Nothing resists Fighting/Ghost and there are many other dual-type combos that have only one or two resistors.

Fighting/Dark is only resisted by Heracross and Toxicroak.
Ice/Electric resisted by Magnezone.
Fighting/Flying resisted by Zapdos and Rotom.

And so on. There's actually quite a few combos like that, so it's really not that big a deal finding them. For pokemon that don't stat boost, it's more about hitting weaknesses than avoiding resistances anyway. Starmie doesn't Boltbeam to get around things that resist its STAB attack(s), it uses them to exploit the common Ice and Electric weaknesses of many standard pokemon.

And yes, Shedinja "stops" quite a few combos. That's about as relevant as Surskit resisting Ice/Ground, though.

The most useful type combination would be that which can get STAB on both moves or hit most things SE and would be resisted by very few. Ground/Ice and Rock/Ground are good candidates.

And yes, Shedinja "stops" quite a few combos. That's about as relevant as Surskit resisting Ice/Ground, though.

Except that Shedinja isn't an unevolved form of a worthless and completely NU dude. And, to add insult to injury, Shedinja doesn't resist said types, he's immune. Not being able to hit your enemy's Shedinja when the time comes == throwing the match.
